<0> from now on, if there's some real asians in there I'm not going in
<1> you won't find one without asians
<0> real asians
<0> not people of asian descent
<0> people who came for a taste of home, etc
<2> well there are always lots of asian clientell at this place
<2> guess they're used to raw meat
<3> Chicken is a no-no raw
<3> no matter what culture.
<3> Beef is a different matter
<2> exactly
<0> e coli is no joke
<2> if I get sick from this I'm getting an attorney
<4> http://linkdirectory.com/paulillsley/sableisland/031.html
<3> impatient: Or an undertaker, whichever comes first :)
<2> I have a date this weekend, I can't die until after that

<2> (depending how it goes)
<4> [16:50] <2> at least you know if you like cat now
<4> [16:50] <0> haha NOT REALLY
<4> Haha
<2> :)
<2> hmm who were the javascript fanatics in here?
<2> ashe, solamente... anyone else?
<3> what do you need to know?
<2> wondering if anyone has developed a custom 'inheritance' model
<5> Moo-Juice: raw chicken is eaten in Japan
<5> according to a friend of mine from Tokyo
<2> other than blah.prototype = new feh;
<3> impatient: There was one, but I forgot it's name. Did all the stuff you'd expect in JS inheritence.
<4> http://linkdirectory.com/paulillsley/sableisland/046.html
<3> impatient: I believe Ashe has used it.
<6> what would an error like this mean: "error: parse error before '*' token" ?
<7> cl0ud yave you studied ditching at sea? have you ever been taught _how_ to do it properly? I astonished at your knowledge
<3> corstan: it means you typed it wrong.
<7> impatient ltnt
<2> ltnt?
<7> long time no type
<2> ahh definately
<2> how've you been?
<8> corstan: usually, in say xxx * yyy, it means that xxx is not defined.
<3> vawjrwrk: you best get the most out of your convo with him. He has food poisoning and will not probably last the week...
<7> impatient reasonable. you still thinking of coming out next month?
<0> vawjrwrk only in non-military commercial applications with planes involving over 150 p***engers at speeds over 400 knots
<0> with a non-trained crew
<2> I wanted to, starting to look like a no-go now :\
<7> yeah, ditching would be a problem
<2> current project I'm on is taking vast quantities of personal time
<7> impatient we're getting some very nice snow now
<2> if I came out now it would probably be in early march
<8> Anyone here who ever used spirit.sourceforge.net ?
<7> cl0ud but an ***umption that a plane would be travelling 400kts when it ditched is somewhat irrational, isn't it?
<6> what's the keyword for getting into #c ?
<3> vawjr: I have put my resume in to a company in Phoenix.
<7> Run I used it before they put it on sourceforge
<0> vawjrwrk only if it ***umes the pilot is in complete control of the plane
<6> I am doing a C version of the code, so I need some comments
<8> corstan: main
<6> ok
<2> any of you relatively good with asp.net?
<8> vawjrwrk: it looks cool, I wonder if I can use it to parse C++ function declarations.
<0> vawjrwrk let's talk about something else, I'm not a pilot and I don't care to argue with one
<7> Run there's an EMail list I subscribe to for it... it's also part of boost, so I test it
<2> actually... efnet may be the place to ask this
<7> Run if you happen to have a reliable syntax for it... I haven't seen a good EBNF for C++
<7> EBNF -> Spirit is very easy to do
<7> and they've managed to write an ISO conformant preprocessor using it... called "wave" iirc
<9> I don't know
<9> Spirit isn't always so easy
<9> Spirit is actually kind of a h***le if things start getting complex
<7> I've always preferred recursive descent parsers though <shrug>
<10> spirit is a recursive descent parser, iirc
<7> yes
<8> Ok... I'm trying once again to use boost
<8> :/
<8> help!!!
<8> I have to install boost somewhere, right?

<10> yeah, then add it to your include path, but you only have to h***le with bjam if you need something that's not headers-only
<8> Ok, there is a boost rpm. Doesn't have any header files though.
<8> My harddisk is VERY slow :/
<11> Oh
<12> good night all
<11> http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&description=raptor&Submit=Go&Category=0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=0&Go.y=0
<11> Your solution to a slow hard disk.
<8> It's too late
<8> zbo: Looks nice, I guess, but a bit expensive... I consider $1 per GB reasonable.
<8> I need several hunderd GBs, can't get there with disks of only 36 GB.
<11> I seriously question that you need several hundred GBs of 10000 RPM disk space
<13> who is/are the owner(s) of #C++ and http://www.noidea128.org/ and may I PM you?
<11> Unless you are running a server
<8> zbo: I mainly need that speed for compilation stuff...
<11> How large are the things you are compiling?
<8> /dev/hdg1 41G 30G 12G 73% /usr/src
<8> I guess you're right.
<11> You can store your personal videos, etc. on a seperate drive
<14> use distcc
<11> really, you will notice a nice difference in some tasks if your hd is on the same partition as your faster hd
<11> er, if your OS*
<8> I wonder if I can put 4 of those disks in a RAID and put them in another room (via a 100 Mbits/s link?) without a big penality... I don't like the noise 10,000 rpm makes.
<11> Raptors are fairly quiet.
<11> They've been virtually the same design for like, what, 5 years now? Only recently are companies like Hitachi producing somewhat viable alternatives
<8> Do you own one of those?
<8> What is the actual transfer speed you get, in MB/s?
<11> I don't own one, but when I built my friend's PC with him he got one to put his game programming related stuff on it.
<14> speaking of HW stuff, anyone know I can find out for sure what clock speed I'm currently using for my DDR RAM? I'm pretty sure it's PC3200 but I built it a few years ago and I don't remember
<11> Knoppix I believe has a diagnostic utility for that
<14> hm
<11> I know Knoppix can at least test to see if your memory has any leaks in it
<14> yeah, memcheck, some of the liveCD distros have that
<11> Depending on where you got your RAM from, there should also be a product label on the stick of ram if you open it up. Just type in the PIN on google or a9.com
<11> the only way you wont find it on the Internet is if it was especially manufacted wholesale ram
<11> manufactured*
<14> ah, hm
<11> for instance, I recently bought a UPS wholesale, and its not visible on the net, tho through some digging i found out what it's comparable model was
<14> I wonder if it would be listed in my BIOS setup
<11> it could be
<11> but your bios may not detect it correctly
<14> true
<14> I've decided 512MB might not be enough anymore since I tend to accumulate like 7 firefox windows with 3-5 tabs each
<11> by the way Run, unless its changed, Raptors have very long warranties as I recall
<8> says 5 years
<11> The speed of the memory is the real difference if you want better performance from Firefox.
<8> they better - I don't make backups :p
<11> Think in terms of programming what Firefox does.
<11> They page out ridiculuous amounts of ram
<11> if you want a real performance difference you want higher clock speeds on your memory, not necessarily more memory
<14> hm
<8> I have 1 GB of ram, just to be able to normally work from cache.
<14> well, the performance is usually pretty good up until I hit that 7 windows or so heheh and then it starts getting pretty slow
<11> Depending on what else you are doing, 512 should be enough. I have 1 gig of memory but I think I typically only use 200 megs of non long term processes memory.
<14> hm
<11> That might be your gpu.
<14> oh, hm
<11> I experience similar problems from time to time, and its because of bad drivers for my ati radeon 300x (on linux) which is also incidentally the critical bottleneck point on my pc never mind the bad drivers
<11> Try updating your graphics cards drivers first before you buy anything
<15> can any1 help me on c?
<14> right, I probably wouldn't have bought my ATI card if I knew it would have been such a bitch to work in Linux
<14> (All in Wonder 9000)
<14> aaronski, try #C
<15> they wont help me.. instead they will insult
<14> ?
<15> they will insult me
<14> why do you say that?
<14> you can always go to #programming
<14> C is really off topic here
<11> yeah, i didnt think it would be such a big deal either. =) I know now someone shouldve smacked me for even thinking of buying this gpu. But when i bought it I was tight for cash and just wanted something to take the load off the motherboard. Then I learned I couldn't even get this card to properly 3d accelerate.
<15> okies
<14> yeah
<11> I also can't do RNR with this gpu.
