<0> though, i'll never go back to native for UI development
<1> peterhu how come/
<1> ?
<2> Native > .NET but....
<2> It takes so much time
<0> because it ****s
<2> (for UIs, that is)
<1> ohoh, nm, this is something I nkow nothing about..ignore
<3> yeah, it's ugly, you have to take care of everything
<4> i haven't coded UI in such a long time
<4> I might code one for my thesis presentation
<0> ****ing kitten
<0> she needs to learn to jump HIGHER
<4> kittens > *
<0> jumped on my lap, and figured out she didn't jump high enough

<4> lol
<0> so she dug her claws into my leg to try to lift herself up

<0> back to the south park news blurp on headline news
<0> how is it "freedom of speech vs. freedom of religion"?
<0> they showed a defecating jesus
<0> that won't stop you from worshiping him
<0> christ
<0> there is no "freedom to not be offended"
<0> Quantum``: my wife will
<0> we cut the cat's claws every few weeks
<4> thats funny
<2> Hey Q``, I just tried to die on the highway, 10000rpm
<2> Didn't work
<4> when the cat will get bigger
<4> it will kill you
<4> when you try to do that
<2> Cat?
<4> khan's
<2> How can the poor cat kill mice without claws
<4> exactly
<0> pfft
<0> they're indoor cats
<0> no mice in this house
<4> mine, runs into the garden, then brings back mice in the house to play with
<0> ours would bring back fleas
<0> they stay inside always
<4> sometimes the cat and the mouse just sit together staring at each other
<4> but most of the time the cat chases the mice until they die
<2> Evil mouse trying to seduce your car
<2> s/car/cat
<4> I will come to your funeral one day
<2> Mine?
<4> yes
<2> Sure, bring popcorn
<2> Uppercase hostnames should be illegal
<4> and the tombstone will say, here lies Michael, aka Ashe, good programmer (although not as good as his psychic link) who died due to a biking accident although his psychic link told him he shouldnt drive bikes
<4> its a big tombstone
<2> Or a small font
<4> no its a big font
<2> Unless you put the motorcycle in the tomb
<2> Or whatever remains of it
<4> LINQ is nice
<0> i'm still on the fence
<0> but i haven't used it
<4> I like the type inference
<0> yeah, that's cool
<0> specifically DLINQ i'm on the fence for
<4> DLINQ?
<4> explain
<0> database queries should be done on the database, not in code
<0> my preference
<4> ah yes

<4> delegate the task to the optimised app idea
<4> type inference will be part of C++ too in the future
<4> I mean standard C++
<4> good times
<5> ask!
<4> you crazy mofo
<5> :p
<6> how do I get info from a Slider Control that is in one of my dialogs?
<6> what is that thing you do when you make it mapped to a data member or something?
<6> i don't speak visual studio very well
<6> or c++ for that matter
<3> any idea why intelli sense wouldn't detect that I've included a boost header?
<3> it worked in vs 2003
<6> not me, ask someone smarter
<6> is there a function I can use to retrieve the integer from a slider control?
<3> mfc?
<3> if it's mfc use GetPos
<6> ok lemmie try
<6> should I map the control like this?
<6> DDX_Control(pDX, IDC_STARTPM, m_DropList1);
<6> one of those?
<3> it would help you
<7> It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood
<7> Where is everyone?
<6> aint no one here 4 u 2 talk 2

<6> not working
<7> ?
<7> What's not working?
<6> I just added a sliding control to my dialog that is supposed to add the color of the rectangle
<6> the rectangle didn't even show up when I ran it
<6> wow, worked that time
<6> ok thanks neway ;)
<6> brb gotta smoke to successs
<8> Hi Hex
<8> Doh
<9> Hello - i am using fopen successfully in one procedure, then i use fclose. I try to use fopen of the same file name in another procedure but this time the fopen function returns NULL
<10> maybe it's already open
<10> use file streams, anyway
<10> fopen is quite C
<9> the file name is stored in a global variable, when i debug it i see like: C:\\Documents and Settings\\..
<9> ok - can you please give me a function from that stream library?
<10> do you have any C++ books?
<10> because that's really the best place to learn this stuff
<10> by best I also mean easiest
<9> the file is closed because i have used fclose, but i think it has something to do with Windows XP: if you use an application to open a file from a Dialog control, then file cannot be deleted (not all reference done) until you close the app
<9> rdragon - yes i do but i need to rip an example now from the C++ help lib, which function do you use?
<10> that doesn't make any sense
<10> there's no 'function'
<10> you use [o/i]fstream objects
<9> rdragon - ok, then by declaring the file it's already open - ok ty
<9> do you have AutoCAD?
<10> no
<9> ok, then i cannot "show you" what i meant by Windows closing all references, ty for the fstream - i am trying it now
<11> if anyone remembers there geometry

<11> havin a little trouble
<12> does anyone know how i can get thread id,if i have the thread handle ?
<13> pthreads?
<12> normal win32 threads
<13> "normal" ? heheh
<13> ah ok
<12> CreateThread etc
<12> :p
<13> I've only really worked with POSIX and Solaris threads:/
<12> oh
<12> i will check msdn, maybe they got new apis or something to do it
<12> i cant find any api to get thread id based on his handle at my msdn here
<8> jose, what's the trouble?
