<0> i was thinking i would have to use xaml
<1> http://www.noidea128.org/sourcefiles/16169.html
<1> error @ 662:
<1> I have a constructor that takes in an object of itselft
<2> Pfloyd that junk is too intertwined w/ MFC for me to try to figure it out
<1> ok...
<1> I almost have it fixed, like I said this is the first and last project i'll be doing with MFC
<3> don't construct an object from a pointer to the object
<3> just use the copy constructor
<1> ok
<3> T( T const& t )
<1> thanks
<2> Pfloyd and IF you're gonna pretend to **** w/ Hungarian notation, then do NOT name objects that start w/ p
<2> pElement5 is NOT a pointer
<1> I know, i just copied and pasted some code
<1> from earlier in my project

<2> "copy and paste" causes more programming errors than any single other thing
<1> ok
<2> so what's wrong with your copy constructor? though I notice you're tyring to make a CCl*** from a CElement
<2> god, I HATE those supid ****ing leading C
<3> me too :/
<4> yeah, that ****s. that and calling methods with a leading capital
<4> naming even
<1> well, i've been changing my Element cl***es from a single cl*** to a few derived cl***es and right now trying to add a real object to a pointer
<1> the pointer being the member function in my Dialog cl***
<1> ok, "an object
<0> hah
<5> everything is an object
<5> :)
<2> no
<1> what do I mean? L-value?
<5> why not
<4> functions are not objects in c++
<2> instances are, but there are also declarations
<5> functions are objects
<2> not in C++
<3> not really, heh
<2> there are function objects, but not all functions are
<5> functions are use and call by pointers
<4> technically, objects are stored in .data sections, and function are stored in .text :P
<5> pointers to sections in stack
<5> like an objet
<3> eh?
<5> cause
<2> bits0xfffe so?
<5> they are
<3> function code isn't thrown on the stack
<2> you're ***erting that pointers ONLY point at objects?
<5> exactly
<3> that's silly
<2> bits0xfffe I don't accept your definition
<5> objects are portions of stack baby
<2> bits0xfffe that's bull**** also
<6> hehe..
<2> what aobut objects on the heap?
<6> Even I know that much
<5> when u are manipulating portions of memory
<5> its call object
<2> bits0xfffe NO
<7> i have this 486DX@33MHz/8MB RAM/win3.11, i installed that update from microsoft for the tcp protocol and basicly what i wanna know is what is the maximum bandwidth that this computer will be able to support. i installed a ftp server on a computer in lan and i tried downloading something from there but the hdd on that 486 is very old and very slow (it's a 100MB hdd)... so go figure, the average speed was 97KB/s
<7> but this is not relevant, i wanna see how much it can get if it doesn't use slow devices like the hdd. does anyone know what tool i could use to do this? maybe win3.11 has something builtin and i don't know even though i doubt it. any help would be highly apreciated
<5> u tell me that a array is not an object
<5> ?
<1> sweet,
<5> u can reinterpret a function pointer
<5> as an array
<3> so?
<2> bits0xfffe SHUT THE **** UP
<5> lol
<3> memory itself is just a big array
<5> exactly
<5> now u see
<2> because you can like to your compiler doesn't mean that your ***ertions are correct
<5> everything is an object
<3> i don't see how that supports your statement
<2> yeah, that's you're so full of **** that youre eyes should be brown

<3> *shrug*
<5> lol
<5> object that u define is a another statement in c++
<5> how di u consider a struct
<5> or an union type
<5> ?
<2> what about them?
<5> not an object?
<2> when you instantiate them THEN you have an object
<5> lol
<4> yeah, those are types
<5> so what an object
<2> when you describe them then you just have a type
<5> an object is
<5> and i mean it
<2> I told you earlier, an instantiated type
<5> a portion of stack
<3> no
<5> agenced
<5> ok
<8> vawjr you are on a roll today!
<2> well, I mighta been a bit quick on deathmaster, but it looked to me like a "for sale today only" spiel
<8> well deathmaster just confused me
<9> Hi, in Delphi i would program the Help-About menu item like this: frm_About.Open
<8> What is there too log :p
<9> and in the About form, i would program the Ok button: frm_About.Close
<10> you don't wanna know how it's done in c++ :)
<9> i am using now C++ Builder, so in: unt_Main, i use an: #include "unt_About.h", then i create a variable Tfrm_About *frm_About, then in the main menu, for the ABout item:
<10> uninstall it
<2> you're waaaaay outside C++
<10> get a real compiler
<11> in irssi, your yello card is an orrange background with blinking redish text
<2> unt_About.h is NOT standard C++ header
<9> frm_About->Show; and in the About-Ok item: frm_About->Close()
<9> i called it unt_About when i saved it
<2> peterhu in my client, and mIRC it's red text on yellow
<9> not the prblem is that i am getting an error when i Close it, and you can see that Show is not the correct funtion, but it tells me that Open is not a memeber function of a form
<2> spades are you listening at all, or are you gonna just babble on
<9> i am
<9> but you are not helping me by telling me to uininstall
<2> then you understand that what you're doing has nothing to do with C++
<9> please don't critise me now :(
<9> i need help
<5> hello buddies
<2> well, if you were using C++ maybe we could
<9> ok, thank you anyway.
<10> change the compiler
<5> who here got .Net 2003
<5> or later
<5> ?
<9> i do not have another one
<2> vc2005 express is free
<10> visual c++ express is free
<2> "That's what we're here for" 1986 Victor A. Wagner Jr.
<5> ok
<2> hmmmmm
<5> for you
<2> try here for free stuff ... http://www.thefreecountry.com/compilers/cpp.shtml
<5> an integer
<2> there, about the 3rd link under compilers
<5> is an object or not
<5> ?
<10> yes
<5> ok
<5> so what are u telling me before
<5> ?
<5> u know that an object is a portion of memoy with a type ***igned to
<10> I wasn't present
<2> oh, I see you just wanted to talk, and not read, eh? you want another 5 min timeout
<5> is that alright
<5> ?
