For now they are doing the work for free, but in the future I plan to pay them. The only thing I'm worried about is this. <EtherSniff> Who controls the ownership of the article if they *give* me the article... also, how to I make sure that I own the rights to an article when I pay them for it. <EtherSniff> Any help appreciated. <skwashd> EtherSniff: spell it out in a contract <skwashd> get them to sign it and snail it to you <skwashd> make sure that they ***ign full copyright to you <skwashd> then you are covered <EtherSniff> Happen to know a good site that would already have a contract written on such an issue that I could use? <skwashd> EtherSniff: nope ... but i do know a lawyer or 2 :) <EtherSniff> A buddy of mine works for a major article site and had to sign a similar form... Is it illegal for me to edit his form to fit my company and just use that? <EtherSniff> Eh, guess I'll have to go "official" and get a lwayer on this one. <larrywells> Anyone in here using any MVC for developing there web apps? <piratepenguin> anyone know the maximum length of an email address? <hax> yes <hax> larrywells: i use rails <hax> larrywells: its very very good <larrywells> I am on a ruby server for my web host <larrywells> How can I start using rails <hax> umm <hax> you might want to try #rubyonrails <hax> larrywells: but... pretty much, you just kind of have to bootstrap and learn it <hax> steep learning curve <hax> larrywells: some books can help, but its mostly just ****ing around until it makes sense <larrywells> I figured that part <larrywells> You can make robust web apps with PHP right? <Munter> larrywells: you can <larrywells> I just keep hearing PHP is for lightweigt use <Munter> larrywells: How is that a contradiction? <larrywells> just keep hearing if you have a web app that is large and robust, php is not the tool to use <r0b> Just wondering what i would google to find information on how to dynamically i guess change html on a website. For instance, I want to click a link, and below the link some text that was hidden appears that previously wasnt there <deltab> piratepenguin: there is no maximum length <deltab> piratepenguin: SMTP does set some limits in section 4.5.3.1 of RFC2821 <MACscr> anyone around to help me with a javascript issue? <MACscr> http://maximstudios.com/proposals/ss/install/index.php?page=create_admin <MACscr> you wont get any errors until you try entering a p***word <MACscr> says verify is not defined in the javascript console <MACscr> but it is <skwashd> MACscr: try var verify = new verifynotify(); instead of verify = new verifynotify(); <r0b> Just wondering what i would google to find information on how to dynamically i guess change html on a website. For instance, I want to click a link, and below the link some text that was hidden appears that previously wasnt there <MACscr> odd, same issue <skwashd> r0b: look at dom scripting and display <MACscr> http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/verify-notify/example.html <MACscr> thats the example code <MACscr> only difference between that and my code is that i changed the input names <MACscr> but i made the correct changes AFAIK <MACscr> another odd thing is that in the example they have the inline js after the form <MACscr> but if i do that, i cant even see my form <skwashd> MACscr: they put the js at the end of the document <skwashd> MACscr: also getting your page to validate is a good start - http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmaximstudios.com%2Fproposals%2Fss%2Finstall%2Findex.php%3Fpage%3Dcreate_admin <skwashd> ah ha <skwashd> found it <skwashd> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="javascript/p***word.js" charset="utf-8" /> <skwashd> change it to <skwashd> <script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/p***word.js"></script> <MACscr> btw, my page does validate <skwashd> it didn't when i checked it <skwashd> MACscr: and it still doesn't validate <MACscr> odd, for some reason my FF validator extension validates it <skwashd> i am using the w3c validator
