<2> a MXML tag is a representation of an Object hax, <mx:DataGrid> is a mx.components.DataGrid object, all attributes on the tag are properties of the object which are set when its created

<2> hax, in the IDE the debugger is outstanding, but thats $500. Flex 2.0 was just released in June, so I imagine people will have third party debuggers and such soon enough (since the compiler is free now, and the standard library is open source) :P
