<22> altano, all that happened is that ubuntu missed XP. it overwrote the MBR with grub. after you install XP, then Ubunutu, if the same thing happens, all you'll have to do is edit one file.

<15> altano: another thought. If the XP CD hoses grub, when you reinstall ubuntu, try a manual installation. There may be an option when it installs grub to leave windows in the boot sector.
