<Stuart1> I have a dual boot Windows XP and Ubuntu machine. Both partitions were booting properly until just now. When I try and boot the Ubuntu Partition I get told "Can't access tty; job control turned off", it also mentions that /dev/hda2 does not exist. Can anybody tell me what this means?

<martin__> Hi guys. I have a simple question... How do I edit my /etc/hdparm.conf file with Root previliges??? In Kubuntu I could rightclick and choose edit as root but I don't know how to do it in Ubuntu :(

Im getting the message: You must log in to access..." And i am asked to insert username, domain, and a p***word. I never inserted something before but it was working good. <Apoll013> Stuart1: I'd need more info to really help u.... maybe try a Live-CD and check, if ur Linux partition is still intact. If u didn't change something, maybe the Linux-Partition broke

<j2daosh> dl a copy of grub just to make sure you have a good copy... well then again... hey seveas... you can get to the grub off the install cd without having to completely reinstall ubuntu right?
