<FLSimpsonKPT_Lin> keanan@ubuntu:~$
<Xenguy> logical_mark: back...
<thangog> it's pissin me off man
<bur[n]er> !pastebin
<ubotu> somebody said pastebin was a site where you can post large texts and screenshots so you don't flood the channel. You can find it at http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org
<Xenguy> logical_mark: why are you changing the location anyway?

<logical_mark> Xenguy; The problem is that I almost had to reinstall today and I hated that I had not made it so that everything I had was on another drive
<thangog> i just get linux tonight, can't use email, my isp doesn't support linux or tbird
<rich0rd> oops (Need to get 571MB of archives.)
<kbrooks> thangog, look. stop swearing
<thangog> only supports outlook express
<logical_mark> Xenguy: When I ran windows I just made my My Documents folder on another drive
<kbrooks> thangog, thats not true
<thangog> IT IS
<kbrooks> thangog, your isp has a smtp and pop server
<rich0rd> thangog: use webmail until you find the POP and SMTP settings for your provider
<logical_mark> Xenguy: Fixed it by the way, but still would like to know how to change it...
<kbrooks> you connect to these servers
<bur[n]er> thangog: ask your ISP for your pop mail server and smtp server addresses and user/p***
<thangog> i have it.
<bur[n]er> thangog: then you have your mail server, wtf
<j1> burner, can you help me?
<Shadyman> thangog: Then you can set up firebird
<thangog> i can't find out where to put my pw in
<Shadyman> thunderbird*
<Xenguy> logical_mark: linux has a particulr file structure, and you probably should mess with that scheme. But I'm still hazy about your exact situation
<kbrooks> thangog, THE smtp/pop server knows NOTHING about your OS, ever
<rich0rd> you'll be asked for your PW
<bur[n]er> j1: i can't... i know jack about NEC's, check the forums or wiki
<thangog> it doesnt
<adub> cpu MHz : 529.866 my cpu info has that for cat /proc/cpuinfo whereas windows says its 1.5 ghz ?? im clueless to whats going on here
<Xenguy> logical_mark: jeez, shouldn't*
<bur[n]er> thangog: tbird? it prompts you for it when you first attempt to get mail
<j1> burner, can yo usend me a link to the wiki?
<Shadyman> adub: Is it a laptop?
<bur[n]er> j1: http://wiki.ubuntu.com
<adub> shadyman yes
<thangog> i'm tellin u burner, it doesn;t
<logical_mark> Xenguy: My directory right now is tied to the partition and drive that ubuntu is on, so If I ever have to reformat for whatever reason I would for everythin in my home folder to be on another drive so I dont have to worry about backing up. So I wanted to make the location of the my home folder another drive
<Shadyman> adub: Processors use frequency scaling, so when you're not doign anything, it lowers the processor speed to conserve battery power
<bur[n]er> thangog: hit "get mail" :
<thangog> i have
<FLSimpsonKPT_Lin> thanks burner
<Shadyman> adub: When you use processor-intensive things, it goes up to 1.5ghz
<Xenguy> logical_mark: OK, I see
<Shadyman> adub: Same as windows does
<bur[n]er> thangog: check your saved pws in thunderbird
<adub> shadyman i see i was kinda wanting a command that would show the specs of my hardware
<thangog> how?
<thangog> thats the problem
<adub> also i want to be able to view my rpm
<Shadyman> adub: Oh ok :) just letting you know what was happening.
<logical_mark> Xenguy: Yeah its nothing fancy. So what I did was set my home folder path to /dev/sda1 , but that made it so the folder woudl never load. Was I doing something wrong or does that sound right?
<bur[n]er> adub: cat /proc/cpuinfo && cat /proc/meminfo
<adub> shadyman definitely good education
<Shadyman> adub: You're using Gnome?
<adub> yeah i know those commands
