<LiteHedded> you're the man
<pianoboy3333> I need file copying help!
<common> man dp
<pianoboy3333> ubotu: hola
<ubotu> dag, pianoboy3333
<common> cp
<Seveas> LiteHedded, take a closer look at your sources.list and you'll see why I knew this :)
<Eleaf> Are there any other control panels for nvidia so I can really configure my card besides just "brightness" o.o.. = (!?
<LiteHedded> yea I noticed you in there
<Raerklegler> W: GPG error: http://kubuntu.org breezy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A506E6D4DD4D5088
<Raerklegler> thats what I get with apt-get update
<Seveas> Raerklegler, look at the top of http://ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic
<Eleaf> Are there any other control panels for nvidia so I can really configure my card besides just "brightness" o.o.. = (!?
<Seveas> that explains what to do in case of gpg errors
<aridese> hey guys, how do i troubleshoot crashing when X loads? what log file would i look at?
<Raerklegler> Seveas, Ok. Checking it out
<pianoboy3333> I copied my My Music folder from my windoze partition, now it has a red x on it and a yellow lock, worse, i can't access it with the file browser, and i wanna take files that are in it out to the folder that it's in, it's in My Music, in MyMusic
<tk> ok I figured out my problems with KDE vs GNOME and my NTFS partitions... I just dont know how to fix it permanently..... unless I sudo -i I cant view my NTFS partitions because of permissions but I cant chmod them because they are read only....
<Eleaf> pianoboy3333, can you access it from the terminal?
<nickrud> Eleaf, the only one I know of is nvidia-settings , do you have that one
<Eleaf> nickrud, yea I do, but I want more stuff ;)
<Seveas> tk, put your /etc/fstab on the pastebin
<pianoboy3333> Eleaf: yes
<tk> ok
<tk> !paste
<ubotu> from memory, paste is please use http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/ or #flood to paste large amounts of text
<Eleaf> pianoboy3333, you could take the stuff from there
<_jason> pianoboy3333: did you copy it using sudo because your windows partition's permissions aren't setup correctly?
<FLSimpsonKPT_Lin> well
<FLSimpsonKPT_Lin> i have success
<Raerklegler> Seveas, I think something went wrong here, it added some other dude's key: key DD4D5088: public key "Jonathan Riddell <jriddell@ubuntu.com>
<navarone> pianoboy3333, make a folder in same directory that the copied folder is and copy the contents of MyMusic into it. Because you created folder you should be able to write to it...the files will have same permissions thought I think
<nickrud> Eleaf, what do you think this is, an operating system that hardware manufacturers actually care about?
<FLSimpsonKPT_Lin> thank you everyone
<Eleaf> nickrud, yes
<pianoboy3333> _jason, i did sudo -s to get a root term and then went to /media/sda2, my windoze partition
<Seveas> Raerklegler, that's the correct one, dd4d5088 are the last 8 characters of the other one :)
<nickrud> Eleaf, I agree it should be
<Eleaf> nickrud, I'm pretty happy with the linux nvidia stuff right now, I just want more settings ;).
<_jason> ubotu: tell pianoboy3333 about mountwindows
<ratm`> how to play encrypted wmvs under ubuntu?
<Eleaf> nickrud, I'm very happy with linux and how it has recognized all my hardware wonderfully.
<Raerklegler> ok
<_jason> pianoboy3333: read the second part of that page if you want to set up your permissions correctly so that you don't need sudo.
<jbzz> FLSimpsonKPT_Lin: Glad to see it worked.
<Eleaf> nickrud, I'm just trying to get video out working on my card right now..
<Seveas> pianoboy3333, as normal user do this: sudo chown $USER:$USER /path/to/new/My\ Music
<nickrud> Eleaf, thank the developers, not the manufacturers in general
<tk> Seveas, http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/7754
<Eleaf> nickrud, yes
<corza> hey guys, yesterday i installed my Nvidia drivers they were working properly but when i restarted my computer it couldn't load them again it came up with configuration errors so i just changed it back to "nv".. any one run into this before?
<pianoboy3333> _jason, read the wiki file?
<Seveas> tk, I see no ntfs partition there, is it /media/usb0 perhaps?
<_jason> pianoboy3333: yeah to set it up correctly, but seveas' command will give you access to your folder
<tk> its not listing them in fstab, but I have them enabled and configured under the disk manager
<tk> under Gnome they work fine
<tk> under KDE I can see them but not read them
<urbaninfected> hey all
<tk> unless I go under diskmanager and click "browse disk"
<LiteHedded> anyone know the syntax to make irssi auto identify this nick?
<Seveas> tk, that's because the disk manager runs as root ;)
<decaf> corza: you installed directly from nvidia instead of packages, therefore you need to add nvidia module to boot
<Seveas> tk, id /media/usb0 your ntfs partition?
<urbaninfected> how do i keep my lan connection from turning off..i keep my dsl on all the time
<tk> but why would just switcing evironments kill my ability to read em?
<_jason> LiteHedded: it's in the irssi documentation startup howto
<tk> Seveas, no, its /media/storage and /media/data
<corza> decaf: what do u mean by a nvidia module? the wiki didnt say to do anything else..
<rixth> I love my new connection. dist-upgrade to Dapper needs 554mb. It is going to take 40 minutes.
<decaf> corza: give me address of the page
<LiteHedded> yea I know but it's not working I think I'm typing it wrong or something
<Raerklegler> Seveas, I have the sources list. Do I just save it?
<Seveas> tk, if you simply put them in fstab correctly, both environments will see it
<tk> storage is my old windows data drive, and data is my USB drive
<_jason> LiteHedded: you replaced 'p***' with your real p***word right?
<tk> hmm
<corza> decaf: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia?highlight=%28nvidia%29
<Seveas> Raerklegler, sources.list?
<urbaninfected> does it have anything to do with the lease expiring
<Raerklegler> Uhm, yeah, with the source-o-matic thing you sent me
<tk> Seveas, ok, I've never had to jack with fstab before, guessing man fstab maybe?
<LiteHedded> ;) yea
<Seveas> Raerklegler, you don't need a sources.list from there, I sent you there for the gpg instructions ;)
<kalve> bort apache and apache2 is installed, but it's apache that starts when i boot the computer.. how can i change this to apache2? :p
<_jason> LiteHedded: does it show up when you do '/network' ?
<Raerklegler> Lol. I really don't have a clue. You might as well send me a trojan and I would be screwed... lol
<Seveas> tk, if both these partitions whow up in sudo fdisk -l you can use my diskmounter script
<Raerklegler> Seveas, I went to that url. Copied those two commands in Terminal, however it gave me the same error.
<corza> decaf?
<tk> Seveas, they both do
<Seveas> Raerklegler, hmm, does the key show up in sudo apt-key list?
<Seveas> !tell tk about diskmounter
<decaf> corza: unfortunately this is the best way to install nvidia, you may have another problem
<Seveas> tk, use that script, you can change the paths in /etc/fstab after the script has added them
<Raerklegler> Seveas, yes, it's there.
<tk> searcher`, thanks, downloading now :)
<tk> err
<Seveas> Raerklegler, then apt-get update should no longer complain about missing keys
<tk> Seveas, thanks
<rixth> How 'unstable' is Dapper?
<Seveas> quite unstable
<decaf> corza: check version of linux-restricted-modulesXXXXX with output of `uname -r`
<rixth> I shall stay away then.
<nickrud> rixth, beautifly so
<Raerklegler> Seveas, it does. Is it safe or useful to post sudo apt-key list results here?
<Seveas> Raerklegler, both :)
<Seveas> Raerklegler, put the output of apt-key list and apt-get update on the pastebin

<Eds> Is there a easyubuntu homepage?
<Seveas> !+easyubuntu
<rixth> easyubuntu?
<ubotu> easyubuntu is probably now a ready-to-use script that'll install several problematic packages, such as Java, NVidia/ATI drivers & more. By nature, it's not 100% safe, but the developers have done their best at minimising the risks. EasyUbuntu does not touch apt setup. More info at https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/ or #easyubuntu
<rixth> Matt is a ****...

<rikai> Well, i'm having a problem removing a package, it failed removing it, and now i cant remove it with apt, as it tells me i need to do an apt-get -f install, and i cant do an apt-get -f install because it fails to remove the package, any tips?
<poningru> it most likely saved it to the desktop
