<2> toma-: i read for the terminal that my openoffice suite will be removed if thesarus will be installed
<1> i mean i want the shortcut to run the program in terminal window and keep it open ..it seems wine wants to keep the terminal open
<3> irvs10tz: do you understand bbl?

<5> what does that mean?
<3> venky: ok, change the program getting run to "xterm -e 'wine ~/.wine/c/Program/and/so/on/woot.exe' "
<7> guerra_, /msg nickserv set p***word new_p***word
<3> damnit.
<3> why do people quit when theyre waiting for help

<2> toma-: the package to be removed are openoffice.org2 openoffice.org2-base openoffice.org2-calc
<2> openoffice.org2-common openoffice.org2-core openoffice.org2-draw
<2> openoffice.org2-evolution openoffice.org2-gnome openoffice.org2-impress
<2> openoffice.org2-math openoffice.org2-writer python-uno ubuntu-desktop
<8> hmm
<3> oh nos
<9> hello
<8> to install the nvidia drivers from the website
<8> i jsut exit x and install it right?
<7> irvs10tz, NEVER EVER paste in here
<3> irvs10tz: weird. give me a moment. youre banned at the moment so dont bother talking
<7> irvs10tz, and openoffice.org2 has been renamed to openoffice.org so that's normal
<10> irvs10tz: (don't paste here) and check this thread http://www.ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-95684.html
<3> Seveas: my bad, probably, sorry
<8> i used this guide http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=57368
<7> ok ;)
<8> and now x is not working at all
<3> :(
<10> lol
<9> i installed mplayer for the plugin in FF and now mplayer is my standard videoplayer. How can I set the standard videoplayer back to totem?
<3> wasabi[1]: did you stop /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx starting at boot like i said?
<5> why doesn't NVIDIA have X11 drivers?
<8> yea
<8> i tried to remove it
<3> wasabi[1]: and what does the Xorg.0.log say?
<8> and it said that file doesn't exist
<11> \j #ubuntu+1
<3> wasabi[1]: it might be /etc/init.d/nvidia
<8> it said failed to load glx
<8> failed to load nvidia-glx
<8> ... which si why i am confused
<12> wasabi[1]: are you on breezy?
<1> anyone has linux on external hard drive
<1> ?
<8> dapper
<12> wasabi[1]: thats why
<8> i should be in the other channel to ask this
<12> wasabi[1]: the enable command has changed for dapper
<3> *sigh* wasabi[1] goto #ubuntu+1
<8> lol
<8> sorry
<3> stop wasting my effort and time
<8> thanks for your help
<13> gtkpod : when i try to move video files (mp4) onto my ipod i get this message : "The following track could not be processed (filetype is known but analysis failed): '/home/pradeep/Desktop/untitled folder/file.mp4"
<8> lol sorry!
<9> i installed mplayer for the plugin in FF and now mplayer is my standard videoplayer. How can I set the standard videoplayer back to totem?
<1> toma: is there anyway to run progrmas installed in ur NTFS partitions using wine?
<12> wasabi[1]: if you join us in #ubuntu+1 someone should know the command
<14> venky: `wine <your_executable_windows_program>`
<5> I have a Greeter Application error on Ubuntu 5.10 amd64. Can Anyone help me?
<1> aslo i have installed ubuntu on the external USB hard drive and iam not able to see the files in my internal HDD
<15> anybody know how to remove totem-gstreamer so that I can install totem-xine?
<14> venky: Mount it
<1> even if the exe is in NTFS partition?
<3> venky: sort of. writing to ntfs is bad (iirc) so its possible that running a wine app on ntfs may not work
<12> Fatal73: sudo apt-get install totem-xine
<14> venky: Yes because all you're doing is reading from it.
<16> whats a good vms
<12> Fatal73: it will remove what it needs to
<14> venky: Make sure you've mounted the NTFS partition, though.

<8> question, if the command lines change from version to version, how do you guys keep up to date with all of them?
<1> ok..i can see the partition i mean my laptop HDD but iam not able to see the file
<2> hey, am i still banned yet?
<3> irvs10tz: no
<10> irvs10tz: no :) - did you check that ubuntuforums link?
<15> gnomefreak:I dont have access to repositories so Im doing it manually with dpkg
<12> wonders if your banned how are you in here :(
<1> i mean in gdisks i can see the partition as /dev/hda but iam not able to see the files
<12> Fatal73: no internet access?
<1> i mean nothing happens if i try to enable it
<8> anyway, sorry about wasting your time earlier
<8> thanks for help though
<15> gnomefreak: thats the price of owning a winmodem
<12> oh no not those :(
<10> gnomefreak: it was a quiet but xchat just says '... sets ban on ...'
<2> bimberi: i have already checked it. can i download the thesaurus from the link in the 2nd post?
<12> oh ok
<3> anyone know if letting qemu see /dev/hdb which is vfat formatted, is safe enough to transfer files from the virtual drive to the physical drive?
<17> Oh bother... I gone bad to geek mode... I blame Ubuntu!!! LOL
<17> How is everyone
<18> Hello ppl. Running breezy on an amd64, and trying to install ati drivers while using the installer from their homepage. I can't make a distribution-based package, as the list is simply too long to be on my screen, and the regular install just puts the files on /usr/X11R6, which is useless. Any suggestions?
<3> Gecko: are the ati drivers 64bit?
<18> Toma-, yes
<12> !ati
<19> ati is, like, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI or http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=24557&page=1&pp=10 or http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=423589
<1> i mean i see my drives as /media/hda1 /hda2 etc but iam not able to see whats there inside it
<10> irvs10tz: i reckon you'll have to, i'm actually doing so as i type, if you wait a couple i'll let you know how it goes
<14> venky: What do you mean you're "unable to see"?
<3> Gecko: make a link between /usr/X11R6 and the dir that they need to be in?
<20> hi
<14> Any specific error, or whatnot. What is that you *do* see?
<1> i mean i can see partition 1 partiton 2 partition 3 in disk manager
<2> bimberi, thanks.. i'll just wait a couple minutes after i downloaded this
<1> but when i enable it nothing happens
<5> I got errors when running 'sudo dpkg -reconfigure xserver-xorg' it says conflicting actions --control and --remove
<14> venky: No, when you do `ls /media/hd1` what do you see?
<20> can some body help me with installing of acerhk, ?
<14> err
<14> hda1
<3> venky: put your /etc/fstab file up for inspection on pastebin
<1> wait
<3> !pastebin
<19> somebody said pastebin was a site where you can post large texts and screenshots so you don't flood the channel. You can find it at http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org - Install webboard for easy pasting from the gnome taskbar
<15> so does anybody know how I can get rid of totem-gstreamer?
<21> I've installed ubuntu on my laptop, but although it has an S3 savage graphics card, the "vesa" driver is loaded in xorg.conf. What I want to do is to modify xorg.conf to load the s3 driver instead. Does anyone know the name of the s3 driver (is it "savage")?
<1> nothing
<1> nothinghappens i get the command prompt
<22> #kubuntu
<10> irvs10tz: heh, "depends on openoffice.org-core (>= 1.9); however: Package openoffice.org-core is not installed."
<3> dpm: running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" will let you select any driver you want
<23> dpm: yes, "savage"
<1> my /media/hda2 is NTFS hda1 and hda3 r vfat
<9> i installed mplayer for the plugin in FF and now mplayer is my standard videoplayer. How can I set the standard videoplayer back to totem?
<21> Toma-, void^ Thanks
<3> dpm: np
<1> dont know what it means
<20> can somebody help me?
<1> what is pastebin toma
<23> !pastebin
<19> pastebin is probably a site where you can post large texts and screenshots so you don't flood the channel. You can find it at http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org - Install webboard for easy pasting from the gnome taskbar
<2> bimberi, what does that mean?
<1> i dont have a fstab directory
<24> nickrud, around?
<14> fstab is a file.
<14> It should be /etc/fstab
<23> venky: surely you have a regular file /etc/fstab
<12> dreckslord: qhat type of file is it?
<24> venky, open it in gedit or nano or something
<1> ya got it
<1> how to paste it in the pastebin
<10> irvs10tz: that debians naming is different to ubuntu's which calls it openoffice.org2-core
<25> Noob question - do I need a firewall running linux?
<12> dreckslord: sudo apt-get install acerhk doesnt work?
<10> irvs10tz: i have force installed it (which is never a great thing to do) a quick check shows that it does appear to be working
