<15> Alex_C: I looked at it. No idea whatsoever.
<16> ff1.5 will be the default in dapper?
<8> Unity: yes
<2> Mabus06, you use apt-zip on the computer where you want to install it (transfer /etc/apt/sources/list and /var/lib/apt/lists/* to that computer first)
<17> !ndiswrapper
<3> well, ndiswrapper is a way to support Windows wireless drivers, but it is buggy compared to native support. More info at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HowToSetUpNdiswrapper
<4> Alex_C, it is a bug in the program
<12> Alex_C, because auto-package ****s? (or so I'm told)
<10> oh it seems this is the max resolution, 1280x102
<10> 4
<13> nickrud, compling it doesn't work either!
<18> Mabus06: sudo aptitude reinstall package-name -d
<14> Seveas: so I put the apt-zip deb file, and the two source files, there, as well?
<19> nickrud: I pasted
<8> what is auto-package
<2> autopackage is a spawn of the devil - it doesn't get much more evi than autopackage

<2> gnomefreak, ok, compared to automatix autopackage is holy
<8> lol
<19> gopi sorry
<13> nickrud, -> http://pastebin.com/572406 - thats the complie error, any ideas?
<21> Are '-dev' packages the ones required to compile certain programs?
<14> Seveas: but you're still unsure on how to use apt-zip? It says to use a mount point but I dont know what that means or what to use, and everything I try seems to be the wrong syntax.
<18> Mabus06: clean the apt cache out first so can find the package aptitude clean
<8> Chyx: yes
<5> gnomefreak: dont find it
<13> erUSUL, http://pastebin.com/572406 - can you help?
<8> brainlessbob: on breezy?
<22> Goldfisch: how do you burn a iso with k3b?
<5> gnomefreak: yep
<23> Alex_C: you have all the development headers for X and GTK installed?
<12> gopi, that's a problem with a font, possibly not installed. Other than that, I can't say much.

<7> pianoboy3333: Burn Image File
<14> You know what, all? Thanks for your help but I am not going to lose my hair over this. I have been trying for 2 hours and needed to leave an hour ago. And I'm no farther than when I started. My friend can help himself.

<19> anyone suggestions ?
<7> Take care Mabus06
<12> gnomefreak, no, 4.0.2 (3.4 for the kernel)

<19> Or can I install a better and advanced one like mythtv ??
<24> sorry for the away message.
<13> biovore, what packages do I need?
<8> wait why are you compiling wine?
<12> gnomefreak, it has 2.95 as well
<5> gnomefreak: World of Warcraft...

<8> nickrud: he said he needs gcc 2.something to compile wine on 64
<12> oh, and 272 (shades of oh my god)

<10> i installed the xfce-goodies package for ubuntu but, they don't show up when i try to add them to the xfce-panel
<12> Alex_C, try installing gtk2-engines-clearlooks
<15> gopi: You may to run it with an argument like "xawtv -c /dev/video0". First of all, do you have a /dev/video0 (or 1 or whatever) created since you loaded bttv? Check "dmesg | grep bttv"
<12> gnomefreak, I though it said > 2.7 or something
<8> brainlessbob: did they say why?
<13> nickrud, alreay installed
<5> gnomefreak: Well I read a how to make wow work guide and the author said he tried pre compiled but it didnt work

<16> anyone good eye doctor or something can tell me if 1280x1024 will damage my eyes more than 1024x768?
<25> hi all
<26> Unity: It will
<5> gnomefreak: Well I use it only since i got a AMD athlon 64 cpu. Can it run the 32bit version also?
<15> Unity: Last I checked, I'm not an eye doctor.
<8> brainlessbob: yes
<16> CryoTox: and would 800x600 be significntally safer?
<15> Why go to all the trouble of loading an AMD64 CPU, if your not going to run full-blown 64-bit system on it?
<5> gnomefreak: well might get it next time. Well I try to use the precompiled Wine versions.
<27> What is the name that comes up when you boot that has the Ubuntu nanme and the loading status bar going left to right?
<8> brainlessbob: im not sure why they say compile using that low of a version
<21> Is there any way to easily fetch all commonly used -dev packages? Trying to compile Anjuta, but I have to manually apt-get a lot of libs it seems (gnomeui-dev, orbit2, libgtk etc.) so far.
<19> Goldfisch: Please see http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/9329
<27> Sorry, name of the screen.

<25> i installed ubuntu on a system, it has a serial mouse, connected to USB port through a convertor, and this mouse is not working, and in /etc/X11/xorg.conf it is mentioned as ImPS/@, can anyone tell me how can I make this mouse work?
<25> ImPS/2*
<4> Chyx, sudo apt-get build-dep anjuta
<8> Chyx: sudo apt-get build-dep anjuta
<13> nickrud, so do I
<8> and sit backa nd relax
<28> i have a problem with skype and keep getting a "problem with sound device"
<21> Almost. E: Unable to find a source package for anjuta
<2> !info anjuta
<3> anjuta: (A GNOME development IDE, for C/C++), section universe/gnome, is optional. Version: 1.2.4-1 (breezy), Packaged size: 872 kB, Installed size: 2124 kB
<8> Chyx: you need the src repos enabled
<2> Chyx, enable a deb-src repo for universe
<12> Alex_C, no I don't. I'd have to look at the config & make files, and I promised mother I'd give those up :)
<5> gnomefreak: thanks for your help :) I try to do what ubotu says.
<19> Goldfisch: Actually FYI my system is Athlon64 and also Ubunto for AMD64 I am using....
<8> ok i wouldnt be me if i didnt ask why are you compiling anjuta?
<25> can anyone tell me the solution of mouse?
<13> nickrud, lol
<28> i have a problem with skype and keep getting a "problem with sound device"
<8> brainlessbob: give it a shot if he was using gcc2.anything it might be too old now and they fixed wine since than?
<15> gopi: My mythtv is athlon64 (debian64). Okay, you may not have the parameters correctly set for bttv, so it may not actually finding your card. Check /etc/modprobe.d for a bttv file.
<16> CryoTox: and would 800x600 be significntally safer?
<29> I'm struggling to make my fglrx driver 8.22.5 to work on dapper. I get stuck because of a weird message "did you mean tab instead of 8 spaces" when doing module-***istant. Has anyone expercienced this?
<30> Unity: if you're that worried about your eyes, maybe you should see an actual eye doctor, rather than a random IRC channel...
<31> fglrx?
<32> spiritz, how is that weird?
<5> gnomefreak: Will do
<12> Alex_C, sorry I can't help you with that
<15> gopi: My system has one with an entry like this ---> options bttv card=78 tuner=2 audiomux=0
<29> foampeace: fglrx = ati driver
<16> Madpilot: eye doctors don't know about computers...
<13> nickrud, it's ok
<31> spiritz: doesnt everyone have a problem with ati drivers
<18> linuxboyfriend: have you tryed to setup the mouse as usb in xserver.xorg ?
<8> tab=8spaces
<33> Unity, Crank up your refresh rate, turn down the brightness :P
<32> tab!=8space
<29> slide: actually I want expecting my driver to get compiled, no see such a funny message....
<30> Unity: these days, they probably do...
<26> Unity: 800x600 is my size and it's working fine.. I used to to get eyestrain at work from 1024x768
