<3> Corey: well. sol.exe will probably work, something else might well fail
<4> Frogzoo: not working :(
<1> when I do ctrl + alt + f1, it goes to text mode! but after that when I do ctrl + alt + f7, it shows blank scrren with ony mouse pointer? what is problem
<5> so do i need that and aircrack in order to crack networks?
<6> where is the automounting of usb sticks handled?
<2> Corey: 'wine notepad' works?
<3> LiQuiD8468: you don't crack networks around here
<2> phreeza: it's called hotplug
<0> LiQuiD8468, cracking network encrypting is illegal
<5> o ok
<4> Frogzoo: no
<2> DBO: not if it's your network :D
<4> Frogzoo: it like goes the next line in terminal and does nothing

<0> Frogzoo, well yes... which is why these tools are legal =)
<2> Corey: well wine's broken - did you install the sourceforge deb?
<5> ya i was just using my own network, just trying to gain information, not use it for anything else
<5> trying to learn stuff
<4> no ?
<5> not use for illegal purpose
<7> HI
<0> LiQuiD8468, I suggest running ethereal at the same time then, that way you can view the logs of what went on
<1> help me! when I do ctrl + alt + f1, it goes to text mode! but after that when I do ctrl + alt + f7, it shows blank scrren with ony mouse pointer? what is problem
<3> Corey: are you actually giving the right executable as the argument for wine?
<2> Corey: wine --version 0.9.12?
<3> Corey: give it the full path to the exe
<0> LiQuiD8468, but aircrack is more offensive, kismet is more defensive, but both work on wireless networks
<6> Frogzoo: is there a specific script? theres a bunch of them in /etc/hotplug
<4> i am and its not working !
<8> tach
<3> Corey: then it's not working
<5> so, lets say that i was wanting to crack my own wireless network key, what program would u recomend that i use?, what do you think would be easier?
<2> LiQuiD8468: I rec'd kismet
<1> help me! when I do ctrl + alt + f1, it goes to text mode! but after that when I do ctrl + alt + f7, it shows blank scrren with ony mouse pointer? what is problem
<3> LiQuiD8468: i would suggest you should know your own network key
<9> hehe
<9> wput is opposite of wget
<9> whod'a thunk it
<1> I am noob
<0> topyli, hehe... good point =P
<8> LiQuiD8468, aircrack? airsnort? wepcrack? the list is nearly endless
<5> ya i forgot what it was
<5> i w*** just wondering what you guys thought was the best
<5> i just ***umed aircrack since i have seen that one the most
<3> no help here
<10> hey all, can anyone tell me if it's possible to get firefox/xchat opening on startup? They can't be saved with the rest of the session for some reason (which is annoying)
<0> LiQuiD8468, we are crossing over to a rather grey area, if you wish to persue aircrack you might be better off doing so privately
<6> Frogzoo: ok found it
<3> ph8: they're not gnome-session compatible apps. you need to add them to the session
<2> ph8: system -> prefs -> sessions - startup programs
<10> thanks
<11> nevermind, I found what I was looking for
<12> Is it possible to have an operating system run off an external hard drive?
<13> !repositories
<14> To enable Universe and Multiverse see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/AddingRepositoriesHowto - Official sources.lists here: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/6047 (Breezy) or http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/6666 (Dapper) see also !easysource
<3> benoy: i would guess it is, as long as your bios knows about it
<2> topyli: benoy don't know if lilo/grub support usb...
<12> oh
<3> yeah it will run just fine but something has to boot it :)
<3> anyway there are linux distros that boot from usb flash memory so why not a hard drive
<15> files list file for package `libuuid1' is missing final newline
<16> #ubuntu-legal
<15> this appens every time i try to install a program in ubuntu
<17> anyone tried xubuntu? is it any good? is it fast?
<18> is there a way to mount a windows share on the live cd?
<15> how can i fix this?
<18> icheyne - it's just like ubuntu or kubuntu with a different desktop
<19> icheyne: it's ok enough if you like xfce. Personally I'd really rather not confine myself to xfce
<19> (or gnome, for that matter, really)
<17> I might use it on my wife's P3 256RAM
<17> i quite like xfce
<19> it's better for lower-end systems, yeah
<18> icheyne - i think that gnome should well with that much ram - it does for me
<17> if it's solid like Ubuntu and has the same hardware detection
<18> it's the same thing...

<17> and most ubuntu problems can be fixed with the same tools
<17> then I'll try it
<17> cool
<17> sounds good
<17> thanks!
<18> ubuntu = kubuntu = xubuntu
<17> :)
<18> gnome/kde/xfce
<19> icheyne: it's ubuntu - gnome + xfce and some tools
<17> superb
<19> see #xubuntu for others using it :)
<17> will do
<18> is there a way to mount a windows share while using the live cd?
<2> !tell icheyne about enter
<15> files list file for package `libuuid1' is missing final newline <--?
<15> how to fix this?
<18> sc0ty - google anything?
<15> nop
<4> laggg
<2> sc0ty: uninstall/reinstall pkg?
<18> try it then..
<20> Hey, I'm trying to install some applications, but I need to insert my Ubuntu CD (which I can't find :S). Why is that so? Can't it download the needed archives from the net?
<15> i can reinstall or uninstal any package
<18> Mortal` - using apt-get it asks for the cd???
<2> Mortal`: in synaptic, disable the cd repo
<20> Iam8up|lpy, I'm using the Applications>Add Applications>Advanced thing.
<18> oh..
<3> Mortal`: i think that's synaptic :)
<20> Hehe, topyli, I see it is
<20> I tried running 'synaptic' from console, and it said it was already running :)~
<21> holaaaa
<22> I was following the quick start guide on the website and am having trouble installing Real Player 10. This is the error I get when I type ./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin ---> ./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
<22> . Any suggestions?
<23> hi to all!
<23> i am testing the ubuntu livecd, but as i plug in my modem pcmcia card, it freezes...

<4> dreamweaver 8i s working in wine :O
<24> Can somebody help me with Evolution please?
<25> hi
<25> my screen gets blanck and system frozen with nvidia driver, in dapper
<25> is there a way to fix this?
<2> fulldisclosure: #ubuntu+1 for dapper
<26> um, anyone else having trouble initializing hal?
<26> nautilus will not run cus hal is hanging on me
<4> flash mx works in wine :O
<22> I figured out my problem in getting RealPlayer installed. The newest version of Ubuntu has libstdc++ version 6...the RealPlayer10GOLD.bin is looking for version 5. I installed version 5 (6 is still installed too) and everything seemed to work.
<27> Is a kernel rebuild required for SMP support on Ubuntu or is there a kernel package pre-built?
<28> gdb: there's an smp kernel available
<29> is there a final release date for dapper?
<30> im guessing wma. files wont play on linux?
<28> search synaptic for linux-image and pick the one that matches your hardware
<28> |mp|: 1st june
<29> ok
<28> disinterested_pe: they should if you install the windows codecs
<28> !tell disinterested_pe about RestrictedFormats
<31> hello
<30> ok ty
<24> Ng: Hello again :)
<27> Ng: apt-get install kernel-smp (I ***ume?) heh
<31> on the site:
<24> Ng: It seems that Evolution doesn't allow SSL
<31> shipit.ubuntu.com
<28> gdb: no, mor elikely linux-image-686-smp or something like that
<24> So no Gmail
<24> Ng: Is there a wayto get an old version of it?
<28> Celestianpower: it most certainly should do
<31> I can order up to 10 CDs, why not more?
<24> Ng: Hmmm
<24> Ng: Then how and where?
<28> Celestianpower: in the preferences for the email account, where you select that it's a POP3 account there should be an option to use a secure connection
<24> Ng: OMG
<24> Ng: It's worked
<24> :D
<28> :)
