<0> ic56: it just created the file, is taht ok? <1> leojstewart: "Selected video codec: [wmv9dmo] vfm: dmo (Windows Media Video 9 DMO)" quoth mplayer before displaying silent garbage ;) <2> facugaich: put a 1st line like this: "#!/bin/sh" and then the commands you told me about, one on each line. <3> guess what, we need to put, VMware available , in next, ubuntu release and breezy repositories, <2> facugaich: yes, new file is what we wanted. <3> because not only is it free, but people can run Windows or any OS inside ubuntu, h***le free :P <3> VMware Player* <3> ^_^ <4> since when is vmware free? <1> Clint-: there's qemu which is Free as opposed to free <3> and then, any user can run a fluxbox, adn then via vmware lOL and have a tightly secure infrastructure environment :P <2> facugaich: You might also want to put some comments (beginning with a # ) so later you'll know what this file is about. But the #!/bin/sh must remain the first line. <0> ic56: done <3> amphi, , VMware Player is free lOL <3> since a while ago LOL <5> leojstewart: that's a windows media DRM file. "Windows Media DRM is designed to be renewable, that is, it is designed on the ***umption that it will be cracked and must be constantly updated by Microsoft. The result is that while the scheme has been cracked several times, it has usually not remained cracked for long."
<3> I forget when player came out :P <1> Clint-: it is not free software <3> yes it is lol <3> www.vmware.com <6> Guys, take teh DRM, and VM stuff to #ubuntu-offtopic please. <2> facugaich: save but we're not done. there's more to do. <1> Clint-: you have the source? <3> it just don't have all the controls VMware Workstation, server etc does, howeve ri bought Vmware workstation from vmware llol <3> amphi, I can get it lol. <3> what do I need to prove to you ubuntu closed minded, that things alway shave tobe free lol... <3> :P <0> ic56: ok <3> 1 day, amphi , your going see me, flying p*** Bill GAtes :) <3> with my A.I. System :-0 <3> :_ <3> :) <6> Clint-: take it to #ubuntu-offtopic <3> I going call it.. Linux A.I. <3> :D <3> Flannel, , its summer.. :P <2> facugaich: next do this: "sudo chmod 755 /etc/init.d/net-module" finally, do this: "sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/net-module /etc/rc0.d/S21net-module" <6> Clint-: and this is a help channel, not for general discussion. <3> oh yes, I forgot to join the channel, where not too much negative energy goin on, oh yep my fault ;) <7> dooglus: thanks for the help :) <3> well, ubuntu site says otherwise o.o <7> dooglus: I'll see what I can do. <3> Flannel, , I having a bad day, I lost my dog :( <8> how can i convert .ogg's to .mp3 ? <0> ok <6> Clint-: where does it say otherwise? <2> facugaich: ok. To briefly explain what we did: /etc/init.d is where the reference copy of every startup script is kept. The scripts aren't actually invoked from that directory. That's just the central place where they're kept. The rc.d directories are where you put scripts that you actually want executed. Each of these directories is used for a different "run level". For example, booting in single-user mode, puts you <3> I show ya <3> ;) <6> Clint-: Lets take this to -offtopic <3> I talked with Mark once, <9> Clint-, no doubt it couldn't stand your "company" either. <3> :D <3> :( <2> facugaich: when you proceed to go into multiuser mode, without the GUI, you go into runlevel 2. When the GUI starts, you're in level 3. To ensure the fan is turned on regardless of which level you're booting to, we created links to the script from each of the directories. <10> please, im having trouble in sincronizing my palm zire 72 with ubuntu <11> Hello ,I am a Ubuntu user from China. When I start my computer,A wrong message appear. The message tell me that DCOP is wrong. <10> does anyone have some experience with it? <12> anyone got a debootstrap script for dapper? <11> anyone can help me. <0> ic56, one part of what you were saying was cut-off, after the "booting is single-user mode, puts you..." <2> facugaich: come to think of it, let's change that name to /etc/rc0.d/S34net-module -- "34" so it's run just before the S35 networking script. BTW, a better name than "module" would be good. Something descriptive like "wireless" or whatever it is that module is used for. <1> !cn <13> For Ubuntu help in Chinese, please join #ubuntu-cn or #ubuntu-tw <2> facugaich: cut-off part was: booting in single-user mode, puts you in runlevel 1. Then, <14> sss: What can I help you with? <11> MrRio: When I start my computer,A wrong message appear. <0> ic56: Thank you very much for the explanation and for your time, I really apreciated it! <2> facugaich: the initial "S" is for Start. a K is for Kill. In the case of your script, there's only a S action. To include a K action, we'd need a more complex script. The number after the initial letter tells the init daemon in what sequence to invoke the scripts. Numbers are 00 - 99. <14> sss, Can you write down the exact error message? <17> Excuse me <17> Im trying to play a .mpc file <17> Is there something i need so it will play <2> facugaich: you're welcome. good luck! <11> spikeb:Now the ubuntu-cn IRC no one is in. <16> sss: i'm sorry <14> Phoul: I think you need libmpcdec3 <6> sss: if you don't mind help in english, you're welcome to stay here, of course. <18> I'm trying to set up an account so a friend can use my rig to run his Java program. I know I need to set up SSH, but I have NFI how. Can anyone help? <19> hey, how come i can't find acroread in multiverse f/breezy? <11> MrRio: The message tell me that DCOP's communication is wrong. <0> ic56: one more thing though, this commands need to be run after another module is loaded. This module is loaded with the "modules" file <11> Flannel: I can read some simple English. <6> Opopanax: it's there. <19> masked somehow? <6> Opopanax: nope. acroread is the package. <1> sss: that's a kde error, you might have more luck in #kubuntu <20> back <20> ;] <21> Does Mark Shuttleworth every come in here? :) <16> Opopanax: are you on i386? <16> ian_s: yeah <19> no, x86_64 <21> ooo shweet <19> ah, that's it. <22> i've just installed ubuntu, how to update the kernel? <16> Opopanax: i dont think acroread is available for any arch but i386 <22> (i've forgotten :) ) <2> facugaich: hang on, I'm investigating <20> apt-get update kernel <19> argh. <11> amphi: How can I mend this problem? <20> :D <19> okie dokie <22> ok shadowman 10x <16> Opopanax: yeah im stuck without it as well (ppc here) <19> but stuff like xpdf and whatnot will work fine, no? <16> Opopanax: yeah it should <1> sss: I don't know.
