<1> i mean, i got 5 boxes in this room... <1> none of them have ubuntu <8> does someone know where akregator files are stored? <9> how do I make my icon small ? <1> erxcept this oine... <10> brian_: what option did you choose when installing? shrink ntfs? <11> cyblivious: .kde/share/apps/akgregator <12> cyblivious: .kde/share/apps/akregator <1> did i? <1> i just went default whole way <3> can anyone else tell me, how can i put a script in system startup? <2> How can I report a bug in Dapper Flight 4 ? <8> thanks guys <4> brian_: it's more like XP didn't liked that ubuntu overwrited teh MBR or something like that <11> linuxboyfriend: man update-rc.d <1> StucKman, ah <11> linuxboyfriend: not as easy at editing autoexec.bat, mind you <4> linuxboyfriend: that['s distro-specific. <10> brian_: did ubuntu have free space on the drive to create new partitions before you installed/ <13> KurtKraut: http://www.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bugs <1> yes <1> 100gb drive with base xp install <1> so i guess it had 70 gigs available <1> and i know more then that <12> linuxboyfriend: if you want to run at gnome, startup, it si much easier <10> brian_: I mean partition-wise <1> yes it did <10> brian_: strange, the installer shouldn't touch your windows partition if you have unpartitioned space for it <1> jason, i think i am wrong and you are right, it DID resize my parition <1> er partition <1> the NTFS <5> StucKman: ubuntu security pkgs repo is no responding :-( <1> i wanted ubuntu to have 20 gigs of free space and for win32 to have the rest <11> linuxboyfriend: basically you need to create a script in /etc/init.d/, which can take a "start", "stop" or "restart" argument, and then use update.rc-d to register that script <14> hi, what's a good torrent application for ubuntu? <8> well, checked the akregator dir hoping there will be a way to customize the layout <15> azureus <1> i will brb everyone going to try something... <8> sadly found nothing <11> is *there* some way that nobody ever mentions to make APT ignore the fact that some installed package has missing dependencies? i know what i'm doing, really .) <4> ruby123: not my fault :-| <16> HEY GUYS <5> StucKman: i know. :-( <11> vlauzums: there should be one installed by default i think <4> vlauzums: azureus, but eats *lots* of ram. >300MiB here, with just 10 torrents <5> argh! i really want kdevelop!! <11> StucKman: well, azureus isn't really for ubuntu anyway <17> vlauzums: check out bittornado-gui <11> StucKman: at least it's not in the repos <4> LjL: isn't? I was sure... <18> vlauzums: do you want cli or gui ? <4> then... what? bittornado? is there ktorrent? <15> stuckman resident or allocated? <14> ohgood: gui <18> ok, nevermind :) <11> StucKman: it isn't. though perhaps they have ubuntu packages on their site, dunno, but it's definitely not in the standard reps <14> thanks for the suggestions everyone <12> ruby123: kdevelop3 <4> spikebike: allocated, but still a lot of memory (yes, I said ram before) <11> ktorrent would be nice and fast, except it keeps crashing on me <11> (hanging actually)
<17> vlauzums: aptitude search bittornado-gui to see if its on your apt-get mirror <15> allocated memory is free, I would compare using resident <5> robotgeek: argh. it keeps saying "Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/m/m4/m4_1.4.3-1_i386.deb Size mismatch" <19> Is it just me, or is the Linux version of Nvu a little buggy? <11> ruby123: try another mirror perhaps <5> LjL: how do that? <2> irvin: can you say me what is the name of this package: http://www.kurtkraut.net/ubuntu/flight4/ (pictures) - I want to report that. <20> anyone know how i use the gdm themes downloaded from gdm-look <11> ruby123: change "us." into something else in your /etc/apt/sources.list <21> i have loads of problems with the official mirrors <2> irvin: So I need the name of the package where this code is. <4> spikebike: well, actually is what top reports as VSIZE, which if not in real RAM, it's in swap <22> n/m figured it my self :/ <20> and the plashcreens <15> which seems insane <11> ruby123: like "ca.", or "it.", "fr.", whatever nation <15> oops <5> LjL: thank <21> LjL: most of the *.archive.ubuntu.com servers all point to the same machine (at least for me) <20> sorry, splashscreens <23> Where do I find the file there my webmin accout is? <15> stuck right, so use RSZ or similar <21> LjL: ah its different now :) <11> chromebuntu: well, the italian mirror is on an italian machine, i can ***ure you... also, i recall the romanian mirror is as well. don't know about the others <13> KurtKraut: that's a fsck <13> KurtKraut: a file system check if a drive is u/mounted 30 times <8> how can i set some apps to run at startup? <4> mAIJK: open a browser, goto http://localhost:10000/ and use your user and p***word <2> irvin: No, it is not. I've booted a LiveCD with Flight4 and in the first menu I asked it to check the integrity of the CD. <11> cyblivious: just open the apps that you want to open at startup, and then logout choosing to "save your session" <2> irvin: And when a file is not okay, he prompts the error 'mismatch'. But look carefully to those pictures. The word 'mismatch' in read is scrambled with other words. Ther e is a error in the prompting. <8> hehe, isn't there a more 'proper' way? <5> LjL: yaay! it workes :-) <5> mi beautiful kdevelop :-) <4> ruby123: enjoy :) <11> :) <2> irvin: do you know the name of that package ? I need that to report it in the URL you gave me. <13> KurtKraut: oh it's a livecd... better ask in -devel for the correct one. <2> irvin: '-devel' ? Where exactly ? <11> cyblivious: i don't think it's considered "improper", really <13> KurtKraut: #ubuntu-devel <2> irvin: ok, thanks. <8> but then, i have to always leave those apps open before shutting down <24> Hello! <11> cyblivious: no, if you don't normally save your session <4> cyblivious: you can save the session just once, and then never ever again <8> it's always set to save my session <4> cyblivious: gnome or kde? <24> Somebody knows why xedit isn't on ubuntu ? <8> kde <11> cyblivious: well, then i can tell you i have a ".kde/Autostart" directory. not sure about gnome, though"! <25> no idea, try gedit or kate <8> isn't there a startup folder or text file? <11> cyblivious: (anyway, session saving can be disabled if you don't need it) <8> i see. thanks <4> cyblivious: ah, then you have the Autostart directory. serach for it <24> gedit is heavy :| <26> Is it possible to connect to Microsoft's Remote Desktop, with Linux? <24> I'm using qemacs now :) <15> rdesktop <8> so, i should just place some shorcuts into that dir? <24> That's a very good small editor :) <8> so, i should just place some shortcuts into that dir? <25> :) <11> cyblivious: if you mean "symlinks", i guess so <4> cyblivious: yes, <27> having some problems with a broken JFS <28> what does ubuntu use as a cvs client ? <8> sorry, just been a linux user for less than a week <11> dutch: cvs? =) <28> yeah <11> dutch: i mean, i guess it uses cvs :) <27> I had to force-shutdown, and now it's hanging on boot... only mounts root filesystem as RO... anyone know what to do? <28> ...trying to get a cvs webcam driver..
