<3> er
<4> no ndiswrapper-utils
<0> hi
<3> ****, do .run files work with ubuntu?
<5> sh whtever.run
<6> diso: sh filename.run may work
<7> tonyyarusso, ok i folder with the app names on them but inside the folders i only find .gz and text items
<5> same as every other disrto, or chmod +x whtever.run ./whatever.run
<0> diso, uhm... sure it should
<8> i'm guessing it's nvidia drivers
<9> wastrel/ it looks like there is no synaptics word in my xorg.conf file

<10> Is there a way to read FAT32 partitions in Ubuntu?
<4> apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils
<9> wastrel/ or touchpad
<5> !vftat
<11> Do they come in packets of five. Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, Dr_Willis
<12> I think I got it.
<13> ubotu: tell _6ix_ about vfat
<7> tonyyarusso, i found folders is what i meant sry
<4> if youve got that your ok
<8> _6ix_, yes, you should just be able to mount it
<14> shortjollio, No files in /usr/bin?

<17> diso: wtf?
<0> uhh

<3> sorry for caps
<3> im a moron
<7> tonyyarusso, i only find the programs that im not having problems finding in the user/bin
<0> (lol)
<1> LaMatita, that is not a standard repo, you got it from some page. Read that page - it explains this error.
<18> c
<19> Hello, does anyone know how to run .m4a and .wma files in RhythmBox?
<12> ....
<12> Argh.
<18> ZephyrXero the nv was supposed to be changed to nvidia or NVIDIA ?
<15> ok... but for set my resolution at 1280x800?
<4> frod yeah get w32codecs
<20> coolbeing: I don't think it's cap sensitive there
<1> frodrigu, install w32codecs and gstreamer0.8-pitfdll (or use totem-xine or mplayer)
<1> !tell LaMatita about fixres
<14> shortjollio, Okay, try running 'updatedb', then try 'locate programname' again.
<18> ZephyrXero well i changed nv to nvidia and now the whole thing doe not load at all.. i get a graphical error and catnt do anythign now
<18> alpha254 can you help ?>
<3> omg
<21> there 714 people here no ones on 64 bit
<20> coolbeing: what kind of error messages does it give you?
<4> merp you get that netowork going yet
<22> wdy... do i have to uninstall firefox 1.07 before downing and installing 1.5? tia
<18> ZephyrXero one sec
<22> howdy
<13> jjjjjjj: no, keep 1.07
<14> jjjjjjj, No.
<23> flodine, what about 64 bit?
<13> jjjjjjj: are you following the wiki for 1.5/
<7> tonyyarusso, how do u run updatedb?
<22> no, as in do not install 1.5?
<4> short type it
<4> into terminal
<21> 64 bit people wake up i need help
<14> jjjjjjj, You can, but don't uninstall 1.07
<7> tonyyarusso, im sry im such a noob, man
<13> jjjjjjj: no you can install 1.5, but you should keep 1.07

<23> flodine, how about if you ask your question?
<14> shortjollio, Applications > Accessories > Terminal, then type it just like that.
<24> what kind of help floodline?
<25> soundray: gee that's radical idea :P
<20> jjjjjjj: you'll want to keep ff 1.07 as some things in Ubuntu are coded to just work with it (unless you're running dapper)
<22> wheres the wiki for 1.5?
<24> sorry flodline
<22> gotcha
<13> ubotu: tell jjjjjjj about ff1.5
<23> bimberi, the world needs them :)
<25> soundray: :)
<21> need help with nvidia 64 bit drivers apt-get command
<26> hmm... dist-upgrade to dapper seems hosed
<14> jjjjjjj, A lot of other things depend on Firefox and the Gecko engine within, so they'll still be looking for 1.07 and would break if you remove it. Adding 1.5 is entirely safe, but you'll need some launcher/symlink magic to run it easily, thankfully all described on the wiki.
<18> ZephyrXero failed to star X sever and then that there is an error in the xorg.conf
<22> oopes
<7> tonyyarusso, it says im not authorized to create a default slocate database
<26> maybe it'll just take 2 phases
<13> shortjollio: sudo updatedb
<20> coolbeing: does it have a line number or anything telling you what's wrong with the xorg.conf, when I did it somehow an odd extra character got added into mine that I had to go back and remove to get it to work
<14> shortjollio, Right, sorry. Use sudo.
<21> ok i asked and now what
<27> hi
<28> If someone uses the disk manager (system->administration->disks) and removes his boot and home partitions, and immediately realises his error, is there a way to undo it?
<18> ZephyrXero one sec
<27> has anyone managed to get the audio in flash in firefox to bbe *completely* in sync?
<1> bobbyd, no
<23> flodine, come back when you've snapped out of it and are able to give a precise description of the problem.
<27> Seveas, it's a pain in the *** :(
<1> bobbyd, poke macromedia if you want it fixed - long live closed source...
<20> Speaking of Firefox 1.5, anyone know why the Ubuntu edition of it in dapper has automatic updates disabled? Does Ubuntu really think they need that much damn control over what we're running?
<9> wastrel/ thank you very much for your help. that did it. I created a touchpad input section and added that to the server layout. thanks again.
<29> hi all, do you know guys how can i get direct rendering ON with X.Org 7 and Matroc G400 dual head
<19> Does anyone know of a player that will organize playlists by artist and id3 tag (kind of like rhythm box)?
<27> Seveas, it's crap for google video, but I her the new version of flash is quite different...
<20> bobbyd: I'm hoping that that'll be fixed whenever they finally release Flash8 for linux :/
<13> frodrigu: amarok
<22> woah... 1154KB/Sec
<16> MrKeuner: np was a learning experience for me ;]
<7> tonyyarusso, ok am i looking for a .deb file?
<9> frodrigu/ did you try quod libet?
<18> ZephyrXero (ww) warning (ee) error (NI) not implemented (??) unknown
<30> how do I make it so that my other partitions don't mount or show up on the desktop on startup?
<4> does the audion in gnash stay in sync?
<14> ZephyrXero, Might be because of issues with guaranteeing support. (?)
<13> mattwestm: app menu > system tools > config editor: apps/nautilus/desktop/volumes_visible unchecked
<20> This is why I hate the repository system.... bleh
<14> shortjollio, No, and executable binary if it's already installed. A .deb would be what it installed from.
<13> mattwestm: that's to make them not show up, if you don't want them to automount, use the noauto option in your fstab
<20> they should just install a general purpose gecko library in the distro and let FF do what it wants
<18> ZephyrXero I guess i just have these options left: SUSE PClinuxOS or back to damn Windows xp
<20> well, do you have to have 3D acceleration?
<7> no executable but there is a .deb
<31> the last one is not an option!
<31> :P
<30> where do I put the noauto option in the fstab?
<32> Why did Ubuntu's packagers break cups and lpr?
<13> mattwestm: in the options column
<32> mattwestm: In the 'options' column
<20> coolbeing: I would suggest going back to Ubuntu Breezy since Dapper's still testing and may be at fault here too
<18> ZephyrXero not really, but I REALLY want to make it so that my laptop fan will stop working as if I am playing a game in full 3D mode, that is the problem with UBUNTU
<13> mattwestm: put your fstab in http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/ if you want
<4> im using cups just fine
<4> what version
<18> ZephyrXero breezy does not work with my hardware hotplug issue
<20> hrmm....
<14> shortjollio, Okay, well maybe you found a freak package. You can install a .deb with 'sudo dpkg -i /filepath/filename.deb'. I think you can open them in Archive Manager too so you'll know what file you're looking for.
<18> ZephyrXero I am doomed
<20> I would suggest perhaps taking your problem to the ubuntuforums then, you'll probably get better help there than in this chat ;)
<33> Do I have to login as root to install something I downloaded?
<4> its funny the things people cry over now
<4> remever back in the day whatit was like
<20> coolbeing: http://ubuntuforums.org
<16> setuid: #ubuntu-devel folks might have more insight on your question :]
