<27> coolbeing, you've already downloaded the nvida installer and run it right?
<16> I'm sorry, i don't know what you're talking about, ZephyrXero
<4> ZephyrXero: so strange, 2006 newest ubuntu and they dont have nvidia drivers default ?
<7> ubotu: you just did an advertisement for using Xgl
<16> ZephyrXero: Not a clue. Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<28> could anyone guide me in the correct direction to mount a lvm partition or restore my bootloader (using flight cd 4 ) ?
<27> coolbeing, ubuntu isn't allowed to by nvidia
<4> alpha254: yes, but when installing it i get an error : unable to load the kernel module .... something that it was done with 4 and i have 3.4
<9> zephyr its a BOT
<3> ZephyrXero: you do know that ubotu is a bot, right? :P
<26> alpha254, yes ubuntu is, but the drivers aren't 100% supportable (and against the ubuntu philosophy)
<4> alpha254: how come otehrs are allowed? most of the distors had the nvidia driver and not ubuntu ?
<29> Hi, I'm having trouble with glade in ubuntu
<9> lol
<7> coolbeing: ok, what you need to do is goto a command line and type in "sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf", then look for where it says "nv" and change that to "nvidia"
<3> ubotu tell ZephyrXero about yourself
<7> Madpilot: yeah, figured that out finally... :P
<29> when try to run autogen.sh in the source it produces, it gives an error saying glib is not installed
<1> tonyyarusso, hey man, i used symantec to get some new apps but they dont appear in my applications menu, do u know why this might be?
<4> ZephyrXero: you mean this : Section "Device"
<4> Identifier"NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce Go 6600]"
<4> Driver"nv"
<27> coolbeing, i don't know of any distro that includes the nvidia drivers... the nv yes, but not the nvidia one
<7> yeah
<4> ZephyrXero: but first i need to install nvidia-glx right ?
<7> just change the nv to nvidia
<7> yes
<29> however, I think glib is installed. glib is i know for sure
<27> yep, that's it
<4> ZephyrXero: ok and then reboot the laptop ?
<29> * i mean libgib
<7> yeah, or you can just hit alt+cntrl+backspace to reset your X server ;)
<27> coolbeing, that change is in the readme distributed with nvidia's software
<9> ya dont need to reboot for it
<9> just restart x
<30> shortjollio, I ***ume you actually mean Synaptic, but anyway. Only certain things will show up in that menu automatically. It has a predefined list, and shows them if they're installed. You can manually add things however, by right-clicking Applications in the panel and selecting Edit Menus.
<27> coolbeing, i think there is one other change that nvidia recommends, but it was already set when I setup the drivers
<31> hmm... I just brought all my packages up-to-date and firefox still says 1.0.x. ubuntu isn't up to ff 1.5?
<6> MrKeuner: hmm i think tpconfig isn't working in breezy.... i saw a reference to /usr/share/doc/xorg-driver-synatptics/README.gz for info on configuring tappad behaivor in xorg.conf
<4> alpha254: you setup the drivers? how just by getting nvidia-glx via synaptic ?
<32> chapium: a bit of a guess but try installing libglib2.0-dev and see if that helps
<30> !tell DanC_u about firefox1.5
<27> coolbeing, i downloaded the .run.sh file and used it that way
<29> bimberi, why?
<27> coolbeing, apt-get might be a better way though
<12> wastrel/ yeah I guess so, because it says no tap gestures no matter whichever mod I choose
<14> How friggin ridiculous.
<14> There is no kernel source on this CD.
<1> tonyyarusso, yes but some of the new apps dont appear in the menu editor, and some of the ones that do dont actually get added when i check them
