Comments:

<0> is it possible to mount an smb:// url
<1> kasuko: ``lsmod''
<2> juanca7777, so most likely you don't want it, ubuntu-desktop is a meta package resinstall it before you upgrade its rather useful as for the other that is your call
<3> it tries to mount the root file system and hangs
<4> how can i kill an x session in ubuntu?
<0> ctrl alt backspace?
<5> oezguer, you should download gyach-enhanced (rpm or source) then installed it by hand
<6> Tommy2k4: yes, but only if not not in a active directory
<7> DarkMageZ: so if I am trying to compile using ant then I want to install 3 packages right? sun-java5-jre, sun-java5-jdk, and sun-java5-plugin?
<8> I mean totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin
<9> does anyone know how to backup my evolution emails before I upgrade..or is that not necessary?
<4> Tommy2k4, thanks
<1> RamiK***ab: no, you probably only need sun-java5-jdk
<10> jani_ : thanx
<11> is there no way to bring up the application meny with the keyboard ?
<12> crimsun_: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/15722

<13> Tommy2k4: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently
<5> oezguer, http://www.phrozensmoke.com/projects/pyvoicechat/
<0> how do i do it because sudo mount says "cant get address for smb"
<7> crimsun_: oh, I don't need the plugin?
<7> for firefox
<14> Dreamglider: alt-F1 in gnome
<7> ok I enabled the damn multiverse in synaptic but it still can't find the package, what the heck is wrong here
<5> oezguer, download the rpm package then convert it to deb using alien
<6> Tommy2k4: omit the smb: part
<6> use just the //server/share syntax
<1> kasuko: ``lspci -{n,}v''
<14> RamiK***ab: doid you update your package list ?
<3> hollowlife1987 how can i fix my problem
<14> RamiK***ab: apt-get update or synaptic equivalent ( reload? )
<6> ompaul: I don't get you, should I install cpudyn or not?
<15> Hmm...is Automatix or Easy Ubuntu better?
<16> i dont even know what your problem is
<17> h080j03, reinstall the boot loader?
<9> does anyone know how to backup my evolution emails before I upgrade..or is that not necessary?
<0> btw i meant to a specific directory eg //server/share/subdirectory
<7> thoreauputic: yeah synaptic did it automatically when I enabled multiverse I believe
<16> dont just go around asking random people
<18> !automatix
<3> its not the boot loader
<3> grub works
<17> i dunno then
<18> oh.. no public bot answers anymore :(
<19> zxc - Automatix does more, but easyubuntu will load ati drivers and automatix won't
<16> whats the problem?
<3> it just hangs every time it trys to mount the root file system
<1> RamiK***ab: you need -plugin if you plan to use the firefox plugin, yes.
<12> crimsun_: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/15723
<15> What I was really wondering if I could use both back to back?
<3> i thought it was trying to mount somethig that wasn't there
<7> thoreauputic: wow, I just did a manual apt-get update now and I still can't install 'sun-java5-jdk'
<15> Since I noticed the ATI driver thing
<13> RamiK***ab: what architecture? i386?
<3> but i checked
<7> yep
<3> lol
<7> bimberi: yeah
<3> no i didn't check
<3> hold on
<19> zxc - both will allow you to select or deselect packages - I used automatix for most, then had easyubuntu load only ati drivers
<0> i have a serious complaint about ubuntu
<0> why doesnt it turn on num lock when i boot up?!
<3> i forgot i check the fstab on the livecd
<20> hi, ive just installed xubuntu on my laptop, but im having trouble with my wireless connection, its an intel 2200 B/G, it can see the AP, when I choose mine, click connect... i get a pop up window that says " activatin eth1 ( wireless)
<20> and it dont connect
<21> zxc333: personally i'd choose Easy Ubuntu, but a couple here seem to say Automatix is safe now.
<14> RamiK***ab: then your sources.list is probably wrong - ***uming you are using 6.06 (dapper)
<7> yep
<7> here let me paste what I have in sources.list
<21> boolka: do you have an excryption key? do you use 'restricted mode' to access it normally?
<22> Tommy2k4, some people don't like numlock enabled by default, there is bound to be a way to fix that tho
<15> Haven't got much to lose since it's pretty much a fresh install so I'll do cstrippie way
<9> anybody? does anyone know how to backup my evolution emails before I upgrade..or is that not necessary?
<13> RamiK***ab: use the pastebin :)
<10> ompaul: jani_ good night ,, good night to everyone byeeeeeeeeeeeee
<7> bimberi: how do I do that?
<0> does ubuntu have a default browser type thing

<13> !paste
<0> i want links to open in opera
<23> Please do not flood the channel! Use http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org for pasting long texts as it does not distrupt the channel. You might also want to install the "webboard" package from Universe.
<13> RamiK***ab: ^^^^^^^
<7> thanks
<20> delire yes i put the correct p***word in the property menue, but it still wont connect :( .... wired connection works fine, and i deactivated it whne trying wireless..
<7> !paste
<2> Tommy2k4, you can do that - system preferences preferred applications
<21> boolka: try toggling restricted mode if there's an option. also try 'sudo ifdown eth1; sudo ifup eth1'
<24> How do I set the PC to defrag every 30th shut-down?
<25> what is the best method to go .avi -> dvd
<13> RamiK***ab: Open http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org in a web browser and paste the contents in there. Then tell us the url.
<25> without Wine :)
<12> crimsun_: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/15723
<1> kasuko: how new is this motherboard?
<3> k i think i sloved my problem
<22> andreasdk, ext3 & reiserfs don't need defragging :)
<20> delire, whats toggling?
<3> bye
<21> andreasdk: man tune2fs. i think it's the -C option
<21> boolka: 'switching' (sorry)
<26> Incase anyone cares, and I know you don't, my font problem came from the fact that gnome thought I was running at 96 dpi and X was running in 75 dpi. I told gnome to run at 75dpi and it's all gravy now.
<7> bimberi: thanks, ok here's the url: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/15725
<12> crimsun_: Not new at all its an intel D865GBF
<8> how the heck do I put a plugin on firefox? apt-get installing it doesn't seem to be enough
<21> boolka: any luck after a 'sudo ifdown eth1; sudo ifup eth1' in the terminal? this will help diagnose.

<27> yo les gens

<21> userone: good question, re backing up mail. i don't know whether it's automatic.
<2> !fr
<23> Allez a #ubuntu-fr ou #kubuntu-fr pour de l'aide et de la discussion en francais.
<0> i cant find where to set preferred applications :(
<7> bimberi: see anything weird?
<28> Yo Hommie Gees!!
<21> userone: i would back them up manually regardless. you might want to ask in #evolution to be sure (if that channel still exists).
<20> delire what am i looking for when doing the ifup/ifdown
<29> anyone know a manual for airsnort
<21> boolka: errors. any output with "failed" or similar?
