<1> hi
<1> how do i get my AC97 audio working correctly?
<2> kr0ntab ?
<1> please
<0> scifi, sorry mate.. are you trying to browse from linux to the windows share?
<3> calgar download drivers from realtek page!
<0> or the other way around?
<2> kr0ntab: yes
<3> what is "/dev/dsp: Broken pipe" because it appears when i try to run quake 3
<4> no, don't download drivers
<5> what are these entries for any way ? ive netstat -n shows 97 of these, /tmp/orbit-techone/linc-1d62-0-5c25279a97b15 , what are they for ??
<3> why?
<4> because it's build into the kernel?
<1> pastorius: uh... really? thats it? they have linux drivers?
<3> yes

<2> kr0ntab: yes linux to windows
<6> rohan007: i have to go soon....
<4> sigh
<4> pastorius, how long have you been using linux?
<0> ok... then you don't need to worry about configuing samba. the common samba libraries should be enough to do what ya want.
<7> If i wanted to get all my copies of Stargate ripped then Compress them and throw more than 4 episodes per disk, Create a custom menue and Remove the stupid intro from Every episode ,what would be a good program to get me started?
<3> few time why?
<0> but there are networking considerations that need to take place first...
<6> Calgar: my ac97 works fine
<4> because you don't "download drivers" on linux for common sound cards
<6> exactly
<4> they are modules build from the linux kernel
<3> ok
<7> alsaconf?
<1> orbin: ok
<6> Calgar: define not working
<2> kr0ntab: ok what do i ned to do ?
<0> 1. ip addresses of both linux and windows need to be using the same network id and subnet mask. 2.) windows firewall needs to be off or at least be allow file sharing. 3.) you need to make sure that you have the netbios compliant protocol installed.
<1> well, standard sounds are working, but some of the games ect isnt working
<1> i think
<8> why aren't all resolutions supported by my monitor shown in Screen Resolution?
<1> perhaps im just reading too much into it
<1> is TuxTyping supposed to have sounds?
<8> the biggest I see is 832x624
<8> even though it supports up to 1600x1200
<6> ubotu: tell Ponijs about fixres
<9> ponijs, you probably need to either manually add more resolutions to xorg.conf or sudo dpkg--reconfigure xorg-server
<10> Ponijs: they weren't correctly configured, open a terminal and run: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
<8> ok, thanks
<1> uh, another question, how do i tell if my ati mobility radeon 9700 pro is configured correctly for openGL ect?
<11> I have a problem with kacpid waiting for io (kernel 2.6.15-22-686) hardware is an a22p ibm thinkpad. Here we have som output from lsof and ps
<11> lsof: kacpid-wo 20312 root txt unknown /proc/20312/exe
<11> ps aux: root 20312 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? D< 13:49 0:00 [kacpid-work-1]
<11> The problem seems to arise when I have pressed the volume buttons for a while. Any clues?
<0> scifi, number 3 refers to the windows box. 4.) you ned to make sure you have a share defined with appropriate permissions on it to allow connections. 5.) you will need to most likely need to provide a username and p***word when prompted. that shoud be in the format of windowscomputername\localwindowsusername and the p***word
<12> hi
<2> kr0ntab: ok they both use same subnet mask, what is network id ?
<11> Thanks
<12> anyone know how to have antialiases shapes in pdf preview ?
<9> calgar, what does flgrxinfo put out?
<12> I mean a good circle and so on ?
<11> btw. my ubuntu installation is dapper
<1> samuli: command not found......
<13> banan: try in #ubuntu+1
<9> calgar.. hmm.. glxgears -info?
<0> scifi lets take this one in a query
<11> gnomefreak: ok thanks
<13> yw
<2> sure im there thnks
<0> more off topic than anything
<8> I get "sudo: timestamp too far in the future" when I do that, though
<1> samuli: a animation of some gears and alot of text
<9> what's at few first lines.
<9> is there something about mesa?
<13> Ponijs: you have to change the time in your bios
<1> samuli:
<1> GL_RENDERER = Mesa GLX Indirect
<1> GL_VERSION = 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.2.1)
<1> GL_VENDOR = Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
<2> kr0ntab: pressing accept but nothing sends/receives
<8> change it to what, gnomefreak?

<9> then you haven't configured it properly.
<13> Ponijs: the correct time
<14> I think someone vandalized the wikipedia page for Canonical...
<8> oh, ok
<0> scifi, register with nickserv
<2> ok :P
<13> gumpish: link please
<1> samuli: i havnt configured it AT ALL!
<15> hiiiiiiiiiiiiii
<1> samuli: i thought it was automatic.....
<14> http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Canonical_Ltd.&diff=53135351&oldid=47688877
<9> calgar, Hehe :)
<13> ty brb
<1> samuli: so, how do i configure it "correctly"?
<9> is it an ati or geforce card?
<1> ati mobility radeo 9700 pro
<16> ati trouble?
<9> !tell Calgar about ati
<16> Calgar: follow the wiki page ...
<1> slavik: ok, thanks
<1> wilco
<17> guys, little question, is there some announcement mailinglist for the packages being updated through breezy-updates ?
<18> I have trouble with the xorg ati driver and dri, it crashes my comp
<1> thanks alot samuli
<18> if thats the case, just disable dri, or use the commercial driver.
<16> D1: you can disable it ...
<9> Calgar, I got my 9200SE working just by simply.. sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx && sudo sed -e 's/"ati"/"fglrx"/' -i /etc/X11/xorg.conf
<9> but better make sure you have the restricted-modules though.
<1> "simply" eh
<9> well.. for one line in command line it's pretty simple :)
<19> gumpish You can probably just delete that line
<1> well, thanks for the help, will look into it
<2> already register kr0ntab :P
<2> registered*
<18> !tell D1 about ati
<0> scifi, join #Kr0ntab
<13> gumpish: its all better now
<20> hi; i tried to find the new cookie installed but can't seem to find it, where should i search for it?
<21> greetings
<21> I have a pretty serious non-ubuntu-specific problem here, and would like to know if any of you could help me / point me to a channel where I would get some help: my MP3 harddisk (with a single 80GB ext2 partition) is corrupted, complaining about a bad superblock. as I would not like to lose it all, I am looking for guidance. Help, anyone? :)
<22> how can I turn off the 'reverb control' in timidity for good?
<15> oral yuk
<15> yukk
<11> bye bye
<5> what are these entries for any way ? ive netstat -n shows 97 of these, /tmp/orbit-techone/linc-1d62-0-5c25279a97b15 , what are they for ??

<26> greetings
<27> how to check how much cpu/ram the server is using?
<20> how can i seet cookies not to expire?
<23> hey how can I watch mpeg, avi ,mp3
<8> lol it's xserver-xorg not xorg-xserver
<28> irc.freenode.net
<27> how to check how much cpu/ram the server is using?
<16> !tell oscar about restricted
<24> oscar, thats a very good question, well first your going to need to pick a media player, one that is already installed, like xine, or one that is not, like mplayer. Then your going to need codecs, special instructions to play each kind of file, including a dvd decoder if you need it.
<27> how to check how much cpu/ram the server is using?
<27> anyone, cmon?
<29> weise ich habe einends
<27> how to check how much cpu/ram the server is using?
