<1> munckfish: It hasn't bee disabled AFAIK. If you can't see it in gnome's logout it's because your machine is not known to be compatible with suspending.... i.e. won't suspend properly

<1> munckfish: "suspend" and "sleep" are the same.... "hibernate" is suspend-to-disk .... there has been some confusion, I'm not sure which is the most prevalent term right now. Anyway, you can try suspending.... in the worst case you'll have a hard freeze.
