<2> Viper2026, they're suggesting you use Synaptic or apt-get in a terminal, whichever you're more comfortable with instead of downloading individual files and then manually installing yourself each time.
<0> pero da igual

<0> el administrador es insoportable
<4> erm... so W is save am i right ?>
<5> ok, thanks for the heads up
<3> ok
<6> Hey guys, I am having some trouble with wpa_supplicant. I have wireless properly configured, works with WPA. I followed a howto on the ubuntu forums, created by wpa_supplicant.conf file, but when I test it says "Failed to read configuration file '/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf'"
<7> its better for u not to speak in spanish in the channel
<1> zjyong; Yes.
<8> Viper2026: where'd you get the deb file anyway?

<6> Hey guys, I am having some trouble with wpa_supplicant. I have wireless properly configured, works with WPA. I followed a howto on the ubuntu forums, created by wpa_supplicant.conf file, but when I test it says "Failed to read configuration file '/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf'" Could someone more knowledgeable help me debug?
<12> Goldfisch: thnx for ur help i sorted it, one thing tho i must have set one thing wrong when i reconfigured it as the screen is not the right size, is there a way to set this in the graphical interface or do i have to go back to command line and reconfig again?
<7> Karmander im sending u private msgs are u getting them?
<8> Viper2026: *nod*. you shouldn't need to hunt things down anymore. like cdubya said, use synaptic or apt-get. the main advantage is doint it that way will grab dependent packages for you. installing manually won't.
<13> whats a program that can join mp3's together?
<1> ideaone: Resolution? Yeah. Preferences -> Screen Resolution.
<3> i have two
<0> brenner dint work this
<11> hm can anyone hear me ?

<14> sup brains
<15> Viper2026, type gcc in the console
<7> Karmander answer
<3> yes
<5> i mean it's giving me "bash: gcc: command not found
<5> " now
<3> firstent yes i answer
<0> ok
<8> Viper2026: did you install gcc, or build-essential?
<6> Could someone please help me with wpa_supplicant? I am getting an error, fairly simple one, but I don't understand what I amd oing wrong.
<1> Viper2026: Close your current terminal, and open a new one. Then see if you can "gcc".
<5> ok
<15> Viper2026, try gcc-3.4
<7> Karmander answer in the private window
<5> ah that did it
<1> Viper2026: The command to see if you can reach a command is "which <command". In this case "which gcc". If it can find the command, it will give you the full path. Otherwise, it reports an error message.
<5> i installed 4.0
<5> so gcc-4.0 works
<15> there should be a link to it via gcc tho Viper2026
<16> I'm trying to point LD_LIBRARY_PATH to where the Gnome shared object (so) files are, but I don't know where that is! Can anyone help?
<5> well regular gcc isn't working
<5> but gcc-4.0 is
<17> how do I install a new theme?
<17> !theme
<1> Viper2026: Where is your gcc-4.0? /usr/bin? Type "ls -l /usr/bin/gcc*". Do you see a /usr/bin/gcc pointing at anything?
<15> Viper2026, sudo apt-get install build-essential
<7> Karmander no se abre una ventana nueva?
<0> brenner please give me some info about how can i see my windows files by making the changes on the terminal with mount
<3> no
<17> ok well I want to install this specific them called xpde, and I have it unzipped and not as a .tar anymore, and when I go into the themes under system and try to install it says filetype not supports, that filetype am I looking for?
<5> -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 89208 2005-10-01 10:16 /usr/bin/gcc-4.0

<5> -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 16339 2005-10-01 10:06 /usr/bin/gccbug-4.0
<17> !themes
<3> i can't receive your messages
<15> Viper2026, sudo apt-get install build-essential
<7> Karmander let me try again

<5> well after the build-essential installation, regular gcc works now
<9> Goldfisch: what are you attempting?
<19> !tell Goldfisch about build-essential

<1> I wonder why not. I guess I was a little surprised to not see gcc installed by default. Hmm.
<15> firstent, nah
<19> !tell JimJty about w32codecs
<8> MOEBIOUX: so what's the problem? the livecd should actually automount your ntfs partition iirc. otherwise, follow the manual instructions.
<15> i found this awesome program for installing all the win32shiz..
<7> fluxt what else should i do if i just installed ubuntu?
<15> firstent, i gather you got java and flash installed?
