<0> made this commandline mpg123 script that makes me able to play entire directories
<1> skazi: What WM do you use?
<2> skazi: system > prefs > startup
<3> Bergcube no
<1> There we have it :)
<4> WM ?
<5> Hi All. Just lurking a bit:-)
<6> is there any barcode program for gnome
<6> ?
<0> KDE? Gnome?
<1> Windown Manager (fluxbox, gnome, kde, blackbox, etc)
<7> aarkerio: but I think you can configure aptitude to not do this either. And it has enough features that apt-get has not to justify using it.
<4> Gnome
<8> hey jason wanna chat
<4> Gnome > *
<9> aireson~ No to both? Or just the last one? If so, check the BIOS settings.

<10> xfce
<11> is anyone going to fix us.archive.ubuntu.com anytime soon? It's way behind on updates. still has 2.6.12-10.26 for breezy, should be .28
<12> Florob: as you wish, is a personal choice
<4> Hrmm..there is no startup in
<4> _jason skazi: s
<3> Bergcube i never set the bios yet
<1> amphi: fstab is all good
<4> system > prefs > s
<8> Hello
<2> skazi: sorry, i forgot a step, system prefs session startup
<13> naetrick: some udev madness?
<4> Oh :O Ok. thanks
<1> amphi: Didn't change anything with it...
<8> hey jason wanna chat
<6> howitzer:gnome
<1> liv: *cough*
<9> aireson~ Then I guess that might be it...
<6> Howitzer:gnome
<2> liv: ?
<14> amphi, udev with usb reboot (ooch but then sometimes that is the only way)
<1> amphi: I'm installing a custom kernel, by the way
<3> Bergcube ok im in bios, what should i do?
<7> aarkerio: as is sudo vs. root, but I think one should recommend the distributors recomandation to newbies...
<14> Florob, that was me shouting down someone on that subject - and it was not aarkerio
<9> aireson~ That depends on the layout of the BIOS. Find the entry for "boot order" or similar. And put your CD drive first in the list.
<15> Aireson: Find your boot sequence and set your cd/dvd drive as number 1
<13> ompaul: I'm still back with static dev
<16> hi folks
<16> is ubuntu already shippping with gcc 4?
<3> Bergcube there is none of that.... this is one of the problems i had with crimsun, its called "easy setup"
<14> amphi, 2.4 kernel .....
<12> Florob: yes, but the newbies should know what we, the experimented users recommend
<14> Frederick, yep but the kernel is 3.4x
<13> aarkerio: 'experimented'? speak for yourself ;)
<17> ola
<9> aireson~ Then I only have two suggestions... Read up on it. Or talk with someone face to face that knows about these things... Sorry.
<15> Aireson if you send me a private message over IRC i will help you.
<4> Ok, I have a problem with adding the DNS ip's in the system-->admin-->networking, there is some problem beause the default on my dsl modem is 10.0.0.138, now where the dns after i change it to the real ISP DNS (2 ip's) after like 5-10 min it changed back automaticly to 10.0.0.138...I don't know what to do next...(I tryed changing /etc/resolv.conf too)?
<18> skazi: when your dhcp lease renews it clobbers all that stuff
<19> hi
<4> hmm...so what do I need to do..couse i can't connect nowhere without the isp's dns's
<13> skazi: you can fix resolv.conf and make it immutable ;)
<20> any suggestions on a bittorrent command line client for ubuntu?
<4> How..? :/
<13> skazi: chattr
<21> fortran01, i think it already comes with it in command line
<22> hello all! Sorry for this simple question. I have a question; i've been looking for an option to desactivate HTMl in evolution and I couldn't find it; anyone knows how? Thank you
<18> skazi: dhcp should be giving you the correct dns information - maybe you have a rogue dhcp server on your network screwing you up?
<18> fortran01: btdownloadcurses
<19> hear about pele's son
<20> trappist: can i get it from ubuntu repo?
<4> I have no idia..I just know it says there search: lan, and dns ip is 10.0.0.138.
<23> skazi, "man interfaces", then edit /etc/network/interfaces and change your "iface eth0 inet dhcp" to a "iface eth0 inet static" and fill in the key bits like gateway/broadcast/subnet mask etc.
<4> never happened on linux..
<18> fortran01: it's part of the bittorrent package. you probably already have it.
<4> allright.
<4> Thanks
<13> skazi: or maybe you can edit your dhclient config not to update dns info via dhcp
<6> is there any barcode program for gnome
<19> hi

<4> ok i'll try all this
<13> skazi: that will let you use dhcp without it clobbering your resolv.conf
<19> what version of linux has every1 got here??
<23> richie_, Windows XP.
<19> lol
<4> Do i use it threw Chattr?
<20> thanks trappist

<3> i hate being computer illiterate :( tbis ****s
<20> thanks dell500
<24> richie_ : ubuntu 5.10
<19> kk
<4> Where exactly is the dhclient config?
<19> how do i get rid of evolution email client program
<25> skazi, /etc/dhclient3/dhclient.conf iirc
<14> aireson, so don't just consider it being the bottom of a hill there is some way to go but hey you will get there (every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step etc)
<25> richie_, apt-get remove --purge evolution
<4> ok
<26> When installing a piece of software with the make and install command. Will it automatically put the software in the right place rather than in the location of the downloaded files?
<23> ompaul, every journey of a thousand miles begins with a trip to the bathroom.
<22> richie wgy? I have a question about evolution; I guess you can get rid of it througt apt
<27> uh, guys
<28> im trying to set up apache2 using php to access a mssql database, and i get this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mssql_connect() -- all resources tell me that i must recompile php with freetds support, but I was under the impresseion that Ubuntu Just Works (tm) ... I already have dev-freetds and sqlrelay-freetds packages installed
<22> my question is that I don't find where to desactivate html on evolution
<13> ibob63: by default, make install will usually install under /usr/lcoal
<19> kk
<19> cheers
<27> how do I kill the background procesing ... can't access synaptic because get-apt is still running
<28> what is my next step?
<2> Ubugtu: tell mkrufky about lamp
<2> pfft
<4> skazi@ubuntu:~$ cd /etc/dhclient3/
<4> bash: cd: /etc/dhclient3/: No such file or directory
<4> skazi@ubuntu:~$
<13> ibob63: you can do make -n install to see what it would do
<10> kyo: killall whatever
<2> ubotu: tell mkrufky about lamp
<19> do i defrag hard drives in windows or linux
<26> amphi: thanks . I was worried that I was installing files all over the place :)
<19> i cant see this partition in windows

<2> janno: try xmacroplay
<1> What might cause this error: http://rafb.net/paste/results/AE1c5i99.html
<30> crimsun, having surround sound problems, can you help me out?
