<1> i cant get my dwl 122 wireless to work... Althought ndgtk says the driver is well installed and recognised, it wont show up in the networking window... Any ideas where to find help, or where the problem is? (yeah, somewhere between the chair and monitor lol)
<0> the development version is dapper 6.06
<2> on the cd it say 5.10
<3> lestat: Is it for 64-bit?
<2> yes i tried booting from d
<2> cd
<2> no it says for your pc
<3> lestat_: You haven't downloaded it and burnt it yourself?
<4> saskia: Perfect. Thanks
<5> lol... that was quick...
<6> guys, when i install ubuntu on a system with a ati card an soundcard, will ubuntu work when i use it in a system that has amd instead of pentium and no ati or soundcard?
<7> errpast-wc: what was the file? :D
<8> How do I get rid of unused packages?
<9> gnome rocks here's my screenshot.....http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/12171
<6> i want to install a new server without having to stop my running server

<2> no i ordered the disk
<10> can someone please help me?
<11> guys, can i ask again, is anyone acquainted with libdvdcss2 being relevant still or not. I don't see it in repositories is all, thx!
<12> hola alguien puede ayudarme ?
<13> hello
<14> a good grafhical reader for pdf? xfce4?
<8> pashminet: What's the deal?
<14> !pdf
<15> well, pdf is Pretty Dumb Format, or the Portable Document Format created by Adobe to replace PS for use with Acrobat or viewable with xpdf/kpdf/gpdf, adobe reader (free download, but closed source) or gv/gnome-gv. use ps.gz instead!
<7> maxtor: inglesh, comprende?
<8> pashminet: ask instead of asking for help...
<16> gnome... braff oooowwwgaaghaha... :P
<12> ok
<16> barf*
<9> Xaero_Vincent, check out my screenshot... :o)
<10> well, when i try to run the livecd, it says that it fails to load 'x' or something
<17> Anybody? How would I go about setting up a printer so that output goes directly to the printer instead of being spooled? Is that possible?
<12> i have a install ubuntu
<12> 5.04
<11> oh, common
<16> when I can do everything that I can with KDE then we'll talk. :).. but hey its still Ubuntu anyway :D
<12> and how to configure ddclient for start
<18> MrKubuntuUser: you could do it by hand - print to a file and then cat /tmp/whatever.ps > /dev/lp0
<13> ah did u guys read that bunk on windows vs linix
<19> Xaero_Vincent
<19> What can you do in KDE, but not Gnome?
<8> pashminet: What live-cd do u have and what computer are u using?
<20> MrKubuntuUser: it should be printed right away even though it's spooled
<8> How do I get rid of unused packages?
<9> Jimmey__, good ?
<16> lots..
<8> Xaero_Vincent: That's not an answer...
<21> Hey, where can i change which programs are used for specified files? for example i'd like to use xmms for music..
<10> beruic: pc (intel x86) and i'm using a pc
<19> w3d, very.
<7> beruic: you should've "purge"d it when removing it
<9> Jimmey__, (smile)
<12> i have ubuntu 5.04 and , install apache is my home webserver
<22> livingdaylight: you need libdvdcss2 to watch DVD's
<8> saskia: ?
<16> goto the control pane; and u'll see what I mean
<17> mwe: Hmm... I'm getting a big delay on a raw printer I have set up. It's an Epson receipt printer getting plain text from a Java program called Innovative Millennium. On Windows, I got a constant stream and preceipts printed very fast. On Ubuntu (using CUPS), it frequently stops and it takes many times longer to print.
<8> pashminet: What hardware?
<6> beruic, sudo apt-get --purge remove package
<7> beruic: dpkg --purge remove thispackage
<12> but how to configure ddclient for running from start ubuntu
<10> beruic: intel celeron?
<3> maxtor: /var/www/
<20> MrKubuntuUser: I don't know what's wrong. It should work like that though
<8> pashminet: graphics?
<20> MrKubuntuUser: um should not that is
<8> saskia: I'd like to find the packages which are not in use...
<11> NL5: right, i thought so, it always had been the case. So, why is it not in repositories?
<8> KenSentMe: I'd like to find the packages which are not in use...
<10> beruic: ati radeon i think
<7> beruic: you're the only one who knows
<23> is there a way to compile packages from source and register them in the apt-get package database?
<24> _Marek_: yes, checkinstall.
<1> Installed ndis drivers:
<1> {name of driver} driver present, hardware present but it doesnt show up in Networking ... What do I wrong?

<8> pashminet: You have another (preferably older) vard u can try?
<7> beruic: you don't use it now, but what about later?
<24> _Marek_: configure, then make, then sudo checkinstall
<9> Xaero_Vincent, gnome is nice. i know this, i've been to kde - xfce - three times now i'm back at gnome, it just fits........ (smile)
<25> mrkubuntuuser : thats because linux printing with cups is ropey as hell with anything other than an HP imo.
<23> apokryphos, many thanks :)
<24> _Marek_: it'll create debs, and then you can install those and they get put into the dpkg database.
<16> Knoqueror is an example of something Gnome doesnt have.. Konqueror ****s as a browser but it rules with it's address bar
<22> livingdaylight: this may help, http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2005/12/04/libdvdcss2-and-w32codecs-for-ubuntu/
<9> Jimmey__, right?
<10> beruic: nope, and it's a laptop so i don't know how to remove it either...
<7> konquerer dies in my machine
<14> i personally thinks xfce works best for me, i like it lightweigth and simple, but yet powerfull enough for me
<20> _Marek_: not all drivers work even if ndiswrapper shows that. can you sudo iwlist <interfac> scan to see your ap?
<7> xubuntu is light, yep
<19> wd3, I've done the same, although I might give XFCE a second chance some time, Gnome just does it's job silently, and politely.
<10> anyone knows anything about installing OS X on a PC?
<16> Linus like KDE too...
<24> saskia: dies? Crashes?
<17> quarky: is there any other option, then? Is there somehow I can just directly stream my text output to the printer from within my app?
<24> Xaero_Vincent: yeah, KDE is the way to go 8)
<8> pashminet: :(
<7> yes, crashed
<24> saskia: reproducable?
<8> saskia: Ok, here's the thing. I have in stalled and uninstalled a lot lately, and now I'd like to get rid of the libs that will never be used in my current setup...
<26> ok. if there isn't a scripting channel, could somebody give me a shove in the right direction for making a script that opens the terminal or command promp(linux or xp) and runs a command based on the selected text?
<10> beruic: is there a way to inactivate the card somehow?
<9> uh ohh he had to bring the "man" into this.... (smile)
<20> MrKubuntuUser: you should probably check the log files and try to spot the cause
<8> pashminet: What would that be good for?
<25> goto linuxprinting.com and see. I think linux printing ****s the big one : but am always accused of trolling. It took me forever to get my HP deskjet configured - I hate to think of it ever stopping working again.
<12> how to make start ddclient from inicio of de machine?
<7> beruic: you should've remembered all those dependencies if you know in the future you may not use the package
<10> beruic: i don't know really, i'm just confused
<11> NL5: thx, although Mercy! it looks hard
<12> how to make start ddclient from inicio of the machine?
<17> mwe: Where would I find these logs? Also, I'm not sure what would be there since it IS printing... it just takes too long. :D
<8> quarky: I have a Deskjet 540c and it took no time to configure...
<8> saskia: :S
<20> MrKubuntuUser: I'm not sure either, but maybe. /var/log/syslog probably
<22> livingdaylight: you're welcome.... I've done it and it's not bad.
<9> Jimmey__, yeah, xfce was alot faster for me but i had config problems with certain software, so back at gnome, it's a little slower but man it just works.... (smile)
<8> pashminet: The problem probably is that there's no drivers for your card on the live-cd...
<7> beruic: there is one thing though, some kind of log to those
<8> saskia: Where?
<7> beruic: good question
<25> beruic : same for the first time. Then something screwed up and the reinstallation was a nightmare : too many ways of doing things which overrode each other. I never want to go through that again.
<7> beruic: i'll tell you when it rings the bell
<8> quarky: I see...
<20> MrKubuntuUser: it is for sure somewhat broken, working like that though. My printer is printing as faste as in windows
<12> where configure ? for ddclient start from start of the machine
<8> saskia: I love ya then...
<9> has anybody had issues with the "shadow image" in gdesklet? it keeps saying the "sensor bin" not installed even after i install it.
<7> beruic: say what
<17> mwe: What version of Ubuntu are you running? Could it be because I'm running Dapper? (Kubuntu Flight 6 with all updates as of Monday this week)
<8> saskia: I love you when the bell rings
<8> saskia: :D
<7> beruic: then it will never ring :P
<20> MrKubuntuUser: dapper here as well. It has worked for years though
<20> MrKubuntuUser: with different printers
<12> please
<8> saskia: You have a cruel sence of humour :'(
<7> beruic: touchy
<13> come on be nice
<8> saskia: Why not? :P
<17> mwe: hmm... I really don't understand. It's not an issue with three network HP printers, but the little tiny delay is really brought out by that receipt printer and it's irritating the hell out of people... I had to switch in a Windows computer until I could figure this out.
<17> mwe: I'm also kind of surprised that there's no way to set up a printer without spooling the print job.
<20> MrKubuntuUser: yeah. I don't know why either. sorry
<20> MrKubuntuUser: windows does the same thing
<20> MrKubuntuUser: it's supposed to be processed right away if there is no queue
<20> MrKubuntuUser: not spooling means the job could get lost. that's why
<13> cause i think its nicer to be nice to everyone lol
<8> saskia: I love myself now...
<8> saskia: I found it...
