<4> My partition table seems have some problem as "QtPart" tells "Critical error during ped_disk_new" and "fdisk -l" shows "Partition 1&2 (MS Win Partitions) does not end on cylinder boundary." Am I able to fix this problem with the help of certain software?
<2> kUtieWhtChiX14, (A) this is not a chat channel (B) what do you mean by help with install - we can help but we need more info than that

<8> not working here Harimwakairi
<6> does sb now a nice java development environment like eclipse, but a bit less resource expensive
<8> harisund,
<8> not working here harisund
<9> arrick: Hmm.. hang on, let me also try ..
<5> anyone got any recomendations on an idesk replacement?
<5> for use with fluxbox
<9> arrick: What exactly did you try?
<8> I tried the mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1
<9> And the output?
<9> (Don't paste here !)
<8> then when it didnt work, i deleted that partition and then created one
<9> you *what* ? How do you mean deleted that partition? Is that a partition?
<8> arrick@ubuntu:~$ mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1
<8> mke2fs 1.38 (30-Jun-2005)
<8> Could not stat /dev/sda1 --- No such file or directory
<8> The device apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly?
<8> sorry
<10> aftenposten.no
<8> same error with sudo as well
<8> yes that is a partition, there are 4 of them on this thing
<6> hey guys
<11> arrick: take a look at sudo fdisk -l
<6> does sb now a nice java development environment like eclipse, but a bit less resource expensive
<9> Thanks LoCusF for that suggestion.
<8> that one was the ntfs, then you have a novell, a plugnpray, and an empty partition as well
<12> <3 eclipse
<9> Yes arrick: try that ..
<13> is it only me or is trancode a complicated app
<8> ok, harisund LoCusF wnat to join #arrick and ill paste?
<11> arrick: use pastebin?
<8> ok
<14> oh im so pissed.
<8> !pastebin
<3> well, pastebin is http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/, a site for pasting long texts so you don't disrupt the channel - or install webboard in Gnome: http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=1269
<15> Hi, I ve a question to crontab. There is one line like "test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily" This statement asks if anacron exists and is executable. This statement ***umes, that anacron is running if the binary exists. Do you know why that is? Run-parts wont never be executed, if the binary exists. Is there another mechanism to make sure, all programs in /usr/sbins are running?
<8> harisund, LoCusF http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/12151
<16> hi all
<9> hmm I am really not sure arrick. Hang on, let me try search online for some resource.
<5> m_0_r_0_n: ps ax|grep anacron ?
<16> need some help on a kernel recompile
<7> arrick: you might check out gparted ;) its a nice GUI.
<17> hi
<13> what tool can i use to setup ipchains
<11> graveson: firestarter
<8> ok, is it in the repos FlannelKing ?
<9> arrick: from what I understand, there seem to be some errors in the /dev/sda device. Otherwise why would you get a "
<9> Partitiontableentriesarenotindiskorder" message? Do you think so LoCusF?
<11> harisund: dunno about that
<8> it has the drivers in the second section for plugnpray
<8> adn it has one block for novell client drivers, and the empty I dont know
<18> LOL @ plugnpray
<19> hi all
<16> arrick: hi
<20> Anyone know how to get a lexmark x1150 printing with ubuntu?
<18> hi wy
<7> arrick: I think it's in universe, if not main repository.
<15> imbrandon, the file anacron exists ans is running on my system. But there is another system, where anacron is not running. But you can also find the statement in the crontab. When are the programs in /usr/sbin/ beeing started ?
<21> hellooo

<9> hmm..arrick if I were you, I would try and check if I could make a back up of everything, and try a clean reformat and repartition of the whole sda drive. I don't know how that could be done though :--( . Anyway, that apart, is that like a 160 GB external USB hard disk?
<19> anyone knows why lftp to localhost costs too much time to connect?
<8> I got it FlannelKing thanks
<8> yes
<22> no
<22> :p
<21> each time i choose via as a driver in my xorg.conf, my screen won't turn on... does anyone know why ?
<23> Hi channel
<19> hi ardchoille
<23> I'd a problem with my network port
<15> alan|laptop, have you got an ATI card?
<21> nope
<21> via based.
<23> I'm currently managing a server (mobo Intel SE7520BD2) with Marvell Yukon Gigabit Port, and Intel PRO1000 Gigabit port
<9> I am really sorry arrick. I am not sure what can be done :( . Probably use some live CD to boot so that the disks don't get mounted, and then use some application that allows for formatting / partitioning.
<23> The problem is that my Marvell port takes time during initialization
<8> its not mounted right now
<23> Around 4-5 minutes
<23> I've connected Marvell Yukon port to D-LINK switch via CAT5 cable on a Gigabit port
<8> ok FlannelKing if I want to use gparted does it have to be mounted?
<8> its not seing it for some reason
<7> arrick: not that I remember. There's a dropdown at the top for different physical drives.
<8> that helps thanks
<7> (erm, if I remember correctly, it's been a while since Ive used a GUI, let alone gparted)
<23> Well yukon port always get initialized @ 1000 Mbps full duplex
<23> So, what could be the problem, or it is normal with Gigabit ports
<23> As this is my first time I'm doing something Gigabit Ethernet
<23> I'm running Breezy on Server
<7> arrick: yeah, top right corner, change drives.
<8> yep, what is better, ext3, or ext2?
<23> anybody here who can help me ??
<8> !justask
<3> Ask your question and we'll try to answer it.
<24> hello, how do u access usb pendrives.. cant find it (unix noob) :-) ive tried all the possible ways (that i know) and it seems to know that the device is there somewhere...
<24> helo
<24> help*
<8> ok FlannelKing its formatting now, thanks for your help guys
<8> night
<25> why does: cat file | sed '/something/' not work?
<26> Someone mentioned a list of repositories I could add? Where was that, again? I'm sorry. Still getting used to some things.
<25> !repos
<3> To enable Universe and Multiverse see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/AddingRepositoriesHowto - Official sources.lists here: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/6047 (Breezy) or http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/6666 (Dapper) see also !easysource
<25> you mean that?
<27> hey, I'm just compiling Mplayer from source, are there any issues with from-source software and Synaptic/apt-get?
<9> shinu: Why would you want to cat a file and then pipe it to sed? Can;t you directly use sed instead?
<24> seriously i cant access my pen drive!
<25> harisund: well i could do sed '/something/' file right?
<28> hello
<24> its pissin me off!
<9> shinu: I am guessing you /something/ is a regular expression?
<9> shinu: then you would need to do "sed -e '/something/' fileName
<25> harisund: not necessarily? cant it be a word?
<2> _kalm, well language will not get it done - which version of ubuntu are you using?
<9> shinu: yep, not just a reg. exp
<19> anyone familiar with wireless lan setup?
<9> wy: Yes.. are you looking for something in particular?
<29> !kde
<3> I heard kde is A powerful, free desktop environment for UNIX. IRC: #kubuntu #kde ; install from Ubuntu: sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop ; ISOs: http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/breezy/
<25> harisund: harisund sed -e '/something/' file still gives me: sed: -e expression #1, char 7: missing command
<19> Yes. I'm configuring my thinkpad x22
<29> !KDE
<3> hmm... kde is A powerful, free desktop environment for UNIX. IRC: #kubuntu #kde ; install from Ubuntu: sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop ; ISOs: http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/breezy/
<2> _kalm, use system - administration - disks and that should sort you out.
<23> Is this the right place to ask such questions ??
<19> just updated the wireless lan firmware. But hostap still can't work
<9> shinu: Ok can you give me a particular example of hat you are trying? Probably post your file and some sample of what you are searching for, so that I too can give it a try?
<30> how to change root p***word?
<2> !root
<3> By default, the root p***word is locked in Ubuntu. Look at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/RootSudo for all information.
<24> sudo p***wd root
<9> wy: Oh I am sorry, I thought you wanted help configuring your wireless card to access the internet .. does your card get recognized at all? I am not sure I can help you out thn ...
