<0> brent, oh I see. Okay, are you seeing a blank page?
<1> babo: Did you restart ff?
<2> now its a matter of setting it up with the wp-config file, which will not be let run in firefox
<0> davecb, and "kicking"
<3> kool X)
<4> /help
<1> babo: Actually, run the query from the cmdline,s ee if the result is different.
<0> brent, you have to edit wp-config.php using a text editor
<3> im having this problem installing xine can anyone help me out?
<5> when does obindugo usually come back
<6> harisund i'm dl'ing the latest to see if any docs with it.
<7> intelikey: Ok I guess I will just go ahead and ignore it. There is nothing on the web page you sent me, and from there I went to the actual Gnome NetTool web page, and over there the features page (http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnome-network/features.shtml) is blank. :D
<2> yeah but it asks where to save the php file, its just in a loop becvause it keeps asking me where to save the file. if i say opren with firefox, just the same loop again
<0> brent, rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php, edit it
<2> already have done this
<3> help ? =P

<0> brent, dude, listen -- you cant edit php files by opening them in the browser -- you HAVE to open it in a text editor, in your terminal
<5> Anyone in here familiar with VMWARE workstation
<8> hai..
<6> harisund yeah it's a shame that ubuntu put such a junky code in the supported packages
<9> davecb: I installed xine with sudo apt-get install xine-ui
<7> carthik: But the browser should be displaying his page, right? It shouldn't be asking him to download it right?
<0> brent, and after you have done that, go to the /wordpress/wp-admin/ directory, this time using firefox
<1> concretes: a bit.
<3> ardchoille, i was doing that but...
<4> I was trying to figure out what the different colors of text in this window meant - I had thought that red indicated a private message, but I am having issues figuring out how to do that.
<10> cafuego: so cat shouldn't be used ... what do you suggest o mighty one?
<7> intelikey: ok thanks a ton.. don't bother about it .. I guess I will stick with nmap for port scanning ..
<0> harisund, he has php setup not quite right, but we'll get there in a minute
<11> cafuego: it's on a shared host ... no cmdline access. My app picks it up differently though. There are records there that don't show up in phpmyadmin. Even when I restart ff ... ?
<3> it says that xine-ui depends on the libxine1 file to proceed with the installation
<4> usually /help is a good place to start - apparently not under this client/protocol
<12> derrick__: your client just highlights lines that begin with your name
<13> red is when your nick is in the msg6
<7> carthik: yeah .. I was afraid so .. go for it !
<2> sorry not wp-config, i meant wp-install
<5> Im runing WinXPpro , and Ubuntu.. ubuntu is guest.. can i install my Nvidia drivers without vmware going tits up
<4> gotcha
<6> harisund k
<7> intelikey: thanks again, and sorry for wasting your time :D
<0> brent, not wp-install, it is /wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
<6> !info gnome-nettool
<1> babo: Weird. The onl;y time I've ever had that happen was when the DB itself had gotten corrupted.
<14> gnome-nettool: (network information tool for GNOME), section gnome, is optional. Version: 1.4.1-0ubuntu1 (breezy), Packaged size: 77 kB, Installed size: 1664 kB
<3> the problem is when i try to install libxine1 package it says that its getting conflicts with libxine1c2
<3> now what am i suposed to do :(
<15> I can't seem to find sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx nvidia-settings linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r` with apt-get.
<10> cafuego: nvm. :) i really should read man pages more carefully.
<6> no problem harisund
<4> orbin the driver that comes up is "i810"
<13> derrick__, you can quickly type a name by typing the first few chars then tab
<0> brent, can you see that page?
<4> much like bash - nice
<3> i was thinking in maybe remove the libxine1c2 package
<2> yes i know and i can only open it using a text editor according to my browser --epiphany or in the case of firefox i get the loop
<3> :S
<0> brent, okay, your server doesn't seem to have php installed, or apache doesn't know you have php installed.
<10> derrick__: well i think the issue is you're probably using the right driver for the car, you're just not getting 3d acceleration.
<10> derrick__: try searching the forum
<16> Does EasyUbuntu work on Kubuntu?
<3> can anyone help me with this one?
<4> I have been.
<2> ok dude im looking right at phpmyadmin so how is it not installed then?
<0> brent, so it is offering the php file for download (much like .zip) instead of serving hte page after parsing it
<17> ok i uninstalled the fglrx thing... now what can i do to install the ATI Drivers???
<9> davecb: I have xine working fine and I don't even have a libxine1c2
<2> yes
<4> I did try one how-to, but, after finishing it, glxinfo was not recognizing my video driver.
<0> brent, this is SO confusing.
<3> ardchoille, i have it but i dont really know why =|
<18> cafuego, can i install myy nvidia drivers
<10> mmmiiikkkeee: read the ati wiki page and search for "seveas"
<3> and i dont know what i should do
<3> =|
<0> brent, for les noise and more help, try #wordpress - tell them I sent you :)
<2> tell me about it! fedora gave me zero problems only on ubuntu has this happened
<6> why are there undocumented apps in the defauld install ?

<11> cafeugo: no, I think the database is ok. When I run specific queries the data shows up fine... but something somewhere is caching the general query and not updating the data. PHPMYADMIN used to have a reload database function ... it's not on my hosts version. I wonder if maybe that is the answer ?
<2> ok
<2> ty
<18> cafuego, without breaking it.. im on WinXP , -> ubuntu is guest
<19> !status
<6> this is totally non-lsb compliant
<12> intelikey: which apps?
<6> gnome-nettool
<20> hello. i just installed ubuntu 5.1 amd64
<20> first time linux user
<9> davecb: if it were me, I'd remove libxine1c2 and then try installing xine-ui
<21> I need some ***istance, every time I try to install a package I get the following error: E: /var/cache/apt/archives/xserver-xgl_7.0.0-0ubuntu5_i386.deb: trying
<21> to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man1/Xserver.1x.gz', which is also in package xserver-xorg-core
<22> ardchoille: may I /msg you?
<10> derrick__: i've got an ati card so i can't really help you further. maybe post a forum topic yourself or post on the mailiing list alongisde keeping asking in here
<9> HedgeMage: certainly :)
<12> intelikey: I think I've found a few gnome- apps without man pages. I always thought they fell under some large document I didn't know about
<3> ardchoille, i found out what it was , libxine1c2 was a package that came with kaffeine media player , i removed it ;) tks
<20> i'm trying to follow a guide to make WINE work on my system. i need the AR command line tool tho.. it says i dont have that
<9> davecb: ah, ok, thanks for telling me that. You're welcome
<7> carthik: I am guessing you are familiar with Latex. Can you point me to some nice resources on how to use it? I am also interested in knowing what packages do I need to apt-get to get started writing Latex on Ubuntu .. .
<6> _jason even if so they should have a symlink point man to that doc
<4> orbin: ok, appreciate it.
<12> intelikey: I agree, if one even exists
<6> yes if
<23> Hello everyone, my first IRC chat using Ubuntu. is anyone able to explain in simple terms, how to copy cds?
<24> harisund: I ***ume you know abouy Lyx?
<7> jb_1: Nope .. What is that?
<19> what are bots in this xchat?
<24> harisund: it is a front end for tex/latex
<7> jb_1: Does that allow some WYSIWYG kind of editing?
<24> harisund: yes. try it. you'll like it.
<25> lyx?
<26> okay, another Alpha question... if i can't run ubuntu or kubuntu on an alpha, what would yall recomend? debian? gentoo? or go with solaris or (gasp) bsd? some other distro? I'd like to stay as close to ubuntu (running kde) as possible.
<7> jb_1: Oh .. so does that automatically install this tetex thing that is talked about?
<27> root@nostradamus:~# /usr/sbin/in.talkd -q
<27> must be run from inetd.
<27> How come I get that error?
<20> bots are window's machines
<28> any clue why a video would not have sound?
<20> codecs
<12> mabus06: run it from inetd? invoke-rc.d talkd, possibly?
<29> dj_ - there are several cd burning programs, i think serpentine is the default one for 5.10
<6> sysop__ hehhe bot not but
<12> mabus06: wait no what I said makes no sense, it's time for sleep
<27> _jason: talkd is not a command... how do I run it form inetd?
<13> Well if you want to stay close to Ubuntu, Debian
<24> harisund: yes, installing lyx will get you all the tetex stuff, too
<28> sysop__: doesn't VLC use their own codecs for everything?
<6> !vlc
<14> from memory, vlc is a video/audio player that supports almost everything - See http://www.videolan.org/ for more information (VLC is in the universe repository)
<10> dj_: i think he wasnts to copy them, not create them
<23> serpentine won't copy my Cd, it seems to not recognize my cd\
<12> mabus06: I have an 'inetd' command. Maybe its man page can help you out. I never even knew I had it
<23> yes copy
<10> ddonky: that was meant for you
<20> VLC should work then. sometimes video's are made poorly tho. breaks in different players
<7> jb_1: thanks a ton.. will go and try that out. Maybe somebody can add information about lyx to ubotu, so that it talks about lyx when you type !latex ?
<19> does anyone know how to user realplayer as a plugin in Mozilla
<29> orbin - ok
<26> baconbacon: but you would recommend some other distro if i'm running an alpha i take it?
<30> ok guys, i'll be back in a bit
<6> ok, i'm like went !
<28> I know this video had sound on windows...
<28> and now it doesn't :\
<20> intelikey hehe i ment bots. i switched to linux because my machine was an irc bot
<21> Ne1 know why I'm getting this error when installing packages? E: /var/cache/apt/archives/xserver-xgl_7.0.0-0ubuntu5_i386.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man1/Xserver.1x.gz', which is also in package xserver-xorg-core
<20> oh u quit
<10> dj_: serpentine just creates audio cds. install something like gnomebaker or k3b
<24> harisund: good idea.
<7> jb_1: Right now it just points me towards /msg ubotu latex
<29> dj_ - my bad, serpentine doesn't do exact copies of cds, is that what you want to do?
<23> gnomebaker or K3b ok
