<3> Seveas: welcome
<1> new one works fine
<0> kinglear, start 'synaptic package manager'
<4> jacob_: what are your options
<5> KingLear> or from whatever you are unsing to manage packages, just remove the old linux-image
<6> KingLear, wiki.ubuntu.com/SynapticHowto
<0> from the administration menu.
<1> i updates via synaptic, HymnToLife
<7> satempler: Install network driver
<8> KingLear, its always a good idea to leave an old kernel installed
<1> updated*
<8> KingLear, the come in handy if the new kernel gives you trouble in the future
<9> johannes__: you can actually import the addblock text file from firefox into konqueror

<4> jacob_: ok click on that
<10> #ubuntu-es
<11> how do i get a user to be able to load a new session
<1> mustard5, wont it occupy extra space?
<12> can anyone explain what happens when you get "Found a swap file by the name ".webcamrc.swp" ?
<8> KingLear, yeah, but not too much space
<6> KingLear, ~85MB
<12> while running vi webcamrc
<7> satempler: awsome!
<5> KingLear> about 40 MB, are you so short on diskspace ?
<4> jacob_: point it to the .inf
<0> Seveas, lol. Bot that much.
<1> But I have three of them
<0> *Not
<1> the previous ones
<6> samuli, including l-r-m it's 85 mb
<1> HymnToLife, no i am not short on diskspace
<7> satempler: i have the driver installed now
<8> KingLear, k..well you probably have one more than you need :)
<9> johannes__: theres a firefox extension that download a addblock text file, but if you just grab the text file manually you can use that in konqueror
<13> @linux_galore i always use konqu before. you prevented me from moving back so why should i?
<5> then I think you'd better leave them be
<14> KingLear: then just leave them there...
<11> X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.
<4> ok now you should be able to configure it
<15> hello. i'm using an IDE compact flash.. but on boot it gives me a driveready seekcomplete error.. and continues with booting, sometimes it hangs because dma timeout, how can i disable dma in the kernel for ide compact flash disks? i also have a fixed sata disk in the box which needs dma.. anyone can help me? i'm using kernel 2.6
<7> satempler: i have the driver installed
<1> mustard5, I upgraded from Hoary installation ,
<4> jacob_: now you should be able to configure it
<16> I'm trying to burn an ISO, but GnomeBaker puts this up: "Error trying to open /dev/sg0 exclusively (Permission denied)". so... how can I burn an Iso?
<7> satempler: i don't understand why when i did that before it didn't come up
<1> and I have now Three of them on the Grub menu
<8> KingLear, just editing the grub menu.lst is enough to make it at least neat and understable for users of the computer
<1> when the system starts
<5> Akg> use k3b :)
<4> jacob_: no shure
<7> satempler: yes, but when i put in the wep key my computer gets all screwy
<5> !iso
<17> it has been said that iso is download Ubuntu at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ and for help burning the CD, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BurningIsoHowto
<16> tried that too, HymnToLife
<1> mustard5, thanx , for the advice,
<1> HymnToLife, thank You as well
<1> I have another question
<4> jacob_: I don't mess with encryption
<8> KingLear, yeah...make a backup of /boot/grub/menu.lst and then edit the menu.lst to remove the old entries
<7> satempler: well, my dad doesn't wan't people uploading stuff
<7> satempler
<0> I wouldn't go out and edit /boot/grub/menu.lst if I didn't know what I was doing.
<7> oops
<5> KingLear> !justask ;)
<4> jacob_: I know I am supposed to have it on but never works for me
<18> hey
<19> hi
<7> satempler: yeah.
<18> i was just wondering how do i compile c++ source code in linux?
<4> jacob_: well
<7> satempler: well, bye
<0> althought removing old entries is pretty easy.
<1> Okay
<7> satempler: thanks for the help
<1> I installed webhttrack

<4> jacob_: see you can work with it now though
<7> satempler: probly
<1> and then I installed Firefox 1.5 on Breezy,
<13> @linux_galore why would i need that adblock textfile? i have block option in konqu
<1> when I try to run webhttrack,
<1> it doesnt start,
<7> satempler: bye
<1> asking me to close the browser that is already running
<14> !ff1.5
<17> You can use firefox 1.5 by following this wiki page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FirefoxNewVersion
<1> when I close FF 1.5, it refuses to start
<20> !!xgl
<17> ramvi: Syntax error in line 1. Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<21> hi
<20> hehe
<1> what can I do to make webhttrack work , HymnToLife ? mustard5 ?
<16> HymnToLife, K3B has this error: "CDrecord has no permission to open this device"
<18> does annyone know how to compile a c++ program (that i made) in ubuntu?
<8> KingLear, I've never used webhttrack, so I'm no help :)
<21> channel italian
<21> the link?
<8> !it
<17> Vai su #ubuntu-it o su #kubuntu-it se vuoi parlare in italiano, in questo canale usiamo solo l'inglese. Grazie!
<22> Kane666, install gcc
<5> Akg> are you logged is as another user than the one you created during install ?
<18> hastesaver: yeh ive done that
<9> johannes__: ok you can add filters to addblock in both konqueror and firefox, now firefox has an extensions called adblock filterset, what this does is download a text file and adds ti to the firefox adblock filter rules, but you can also use the same text file with the Konqueror adblock filter rules
<16> Nope, I'm on as the original user
<0> Kane666, install package build-essential
<23> who can help me? when i start my laptop at the end on the grafical interface i can see only the desktop image... even if it should start everything because i can see same advice from kopete...
<14> !b-e
<17> or if you get errors saying gcc cannot create executables, or that you can't find header files like stdio.h, or get "make: command not found, then you need to do a sudo apt-get install build-essential.
<1> HymnToLife, can you guide me why webhttrack is not opening in FF 1.5 , even though I re-installed both of them
<18> samuli: yeh done that.. whats the command to compile?
<22> Kane666, then type "g++ <programname.cpp>" at the terminal; it will create a.out, and you can run it with "./a.out"
<1> Webhttrack via apt-get and FF 1.5 via that wiki link
<16> the only user, matter of fact
<24> sudo apt-get remove --purge, that should get rid of the kdge apps
<18> hastesaver: thanks ill try that now
<0> Kane666, I don't know. I've compiled with the usual ./configure, make, sudo make install
<25> is there a channel for 64bit?
<26> how to change xp filesystem from ntfs to fat32 on linux ?
<5> Akg> sudo chmod 644 /dev/sg0 should work, but there is certainly another way
<0> Dunno what to do if the source doesn't have configure :)
<16> k thx
<0> Buff, there's no way, me thinks.
<8> BuFF, and still keep your data? I can't see that being possible on linux
<5> BuFF> you can't change FS like that, you have to format
<5> and thus lose all data on it
<25> i remember reading somewhere about x needing some tweaking after a fresh install of ubuntu 64 but i cant remember exactly what it was, any 64 bit users here ?
<27> Guys, I follow the flash guide on the ubuntu site and the message i get returned is - Couldnt find package flashplugin-nonfree
<27> any idea's
<13> is there a mobile that can be synchronised with kde's 3.5.1. kontact?
<11> how do i get a user to be able to load a new session --> X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.
<5> callie> didn't need any tweaking here
<25> johannes__: my sony w800i syncs fine
<24> what exactly does the --purge option for apt-get do?
<14> !tell nullifie1 about repos
<25> HymnToLife: what gfx card and mobo do you have?
<5> pvd2006> man apt-get
<0> pvd2006, it removes the package and the config file.
<24> HymnTolife, I am there
<13> @callie via cable bluetooth infrared?
<24> Samuli, so i guess thats still not a solution to my problem, eh?
<25> johannes__: all three
<5> GeForce 6200SE with an MSI K8N Neo 4
<28> thoreauputic: hmm... what's the scp command to send /a/file to 192.168.x.x/some/path? Or is it scp?
<29> !tell nullifie1 about multiverse
<0> pvd2006, no :/
<8> pvd2006, it removes configuration files
<0> pvd2006, I think there is no solution with apt-get
<29> nullifie1, read the message from ubotu - it tells you what you will need to get that package
<5> pvd2006> the answer certainyl is there
<25> HymnToLife: ok so it shouldnt be so different, i have GF6600
