<7> i'm looking for a way to browse a specific debian repository

<3> pvd2006: at least that makes more sense, since text is very compressable
<0> timeless: just use a browser
<7> i understand that there's a packages or sources gz file, but i was hoping there'd be some tool that would let me pick a repository and show it in some more human readbale format
<3> timeless: don't use debian repos with ubuntu unless you like breaking things
<0> timeless: of use apt-cache
<5> thoreauputic, so how do i UNZIP it "UNRAR IT"
<0> bosco: unrar filename.rar
<3> bosco: "unrar" if I recall correctly
<7> thoreauputic: i kind of absolutely need various pacakges which are only available from certain repositories
<3> timeless: such as?
<7> and i'm willing to deal w/ broken ubuntu
<5> thoreauputic, unrar doesnt work that is what i tried the first time
<0> or just add unrar to fileroller
<3> timeless: oh OK - have fun :)
<7> thoreauputic: corporate internal binaries/sources
<3> bosco: unrar-nonfree is the package I think
<7> someone must have decided .debs were a better way of going than something else
<0> bosco: type file filename.rar
<7> so, the documentation i found mentioned Contents.gz and Sources.gz
<7> is that right?
<0> bosco: should tell you what file type it really is
<1> how do you enable anti-aliasing on fonts in KDE?
<5> linux_galore, it is a .RAR file
<0> bosco: just type the first three characters of the filename then hit tab it will auto complete the name for you
<5> linux_galore, it is .RAR
<0> bosco: well use unrar then, always works for me
<8> !rar
<9> I heard rar is a non-free archive format created by Rarsoft. For instructions on accessing .rar files through the Archive Manager view https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FileCompression
<5> linux_galore, i have used unar before and for some reason it is not working for m e
<3> bosco: did you install unrar-nonfree as I suggested twice ?
<10> !flash
<9> Installation & troubleshooting for Flash is covered in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats
<5> thoreauputic, synaptic
<3> bosco: the standard unrar sometimes doesn't do the job
<11> in xchat how do I get all the text in the same colour except mine
<3> !info unrar-nonfree

<3> !wifi
<9> I heard wifi is https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WiFiHowto
<5> linux_galore, 0k then how do i unrar that one
<13> thnx
<0> bosco: I usually just avoid downloading rar file there usually done by idiots who runs windows and dont realise there wasting everyones time by trying to compress a file thats already compressed
<5> linux_galore, i relize that i am not the dumby here i am just not used to .RAR files and when i have used them before i have no prob lol (:

<14> how to install Chinese characters?
<15> h_: I think you can just choose a different font
<8> bosco install xarchiver, its a nice light-weight GUI for rar
<0> bosco: when it asks what to use to open a rar file when you click on it just tell it to use fileroller, when file roller opens just tell it to use unrar, make sure the settings are saved as you do it
<15> h_: Ithought dsome fonts had them -- they hacve everything else
<14> im Chinese,sorry
<0> bosco: so the next time you click on a rar folder it does everything automatically
<16> h_: but have u choose chinese when Installing ?
<0> file sorry not folder
<14> yes ,i have.
<17> Hi, i cant load xine-lib on amarok
<2> Ok, another problem. Trying to execute realplayer and get this error:
<2> /usr/bin/realplayer: line 5: exec: /usr/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay: cannot execute: No such file or directory
<17> reinstalling xinelib1c2 doesnt solve the problem
<17> can anyone please help?
<18> gary: how did you install it?
<0> gary: means realplayer isnt installed
<3> g0dchild: insatll amarok-xine and select the engine in amarok
<3> *install
<0> type ls -l /usr/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay bet it shows nothing
<2> hmmm
<17> thoreauputic, amarok-xine is already the newest version.
<19> tremulous: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open sh <--- In AMD64, what do I have to do?
<14> may i update the kernel from 5.04 to 5.10 online?please
<2> _jason: I can't remember to be honest. I have the .bin file here but I'm having an error when executing it - dependency on libstdc++.so.5
<3> g0dchild: then go to the configuration for amarok and select the xine engine, restart amarok
<18> ubotu: tell gary about realplayer
<8> !tell h_ about upgrade
<17> thoreauputic, it might be an amarok bug- let me test kaffeine
<2> thanks _jason
<0> gary: you need to install the old version of libstddc++
<3> g0dchild: works here (tm)
<3> g0dchild: is this dapper?
<0> gary: its an old package
<17> no, breezy
<3> g0dchild: well, amarok-xine works here on breezy
<14> is it right like this: apt-get install linux-686 ?
<0> gary: lots of binary apps have that problem they dont keep the things up_to_date so you need to install the old gcc dependencies
<17> I tried to install from source too- yeah- not an easy one i suppose
<3> h_: add sudo at the beginning, but yes
<4> h_, 5.04 and 5.10 are different versions of ubuntu not kernel versions
<3> g0dchild: why did you do that?
<14> i login as rot ,thanks
<3> h_: heh - I hope "rot" was a typo ;)
<14> so,how do i update ?must i use the CD?
<17> thoreauputic, since i installed the new release of amarok (1.3.8), i thought i might need to install xinelibs from source
<2> linux_galore: well I instlled libstdc++5, and re-ran the .bin file and it installed, but when trying to execuite it I still receive the same errors
<17> thoreauputic, no good?
<14> sorry,root is correct
<0> gary: I have about 3 versions of libstdc++ installed to I can run some old binary only commercial apps
<0> s/to/so/
<3> g0dchild: ah, you have a library mismatch I guess then
<18> gary: use the deb
<3> g0dchild: did it compile?
<10> !flsh
<9> chripher: Huh? Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<10> !flash
