<0> rukuartic: turn up to an ubuntu meeting I guess? :P
<1> don't remember who asked
<2> how do I ssh?
<1> but i'm using http://fceultra.sourceforge.net/
<3> atlaswd: ssh username@host
<4> r0bin, Couldn't find package build-essentials, am I missing a repository or something?
<5> rukuartic: im issing something. i cant change permissions for my usb drive cause im not the owner, but the owner is listed as mrgl*** and im logged into ubuntu as mrgl***
<0> Oh god. They actually made a library called "poppler".
<6> how come evolution doesn't allow you to select a smtp/pop3/imap4 port to run on ?
<0> sorry, build-essential
<0> no s
<7> quick question, does ubuntu support usb wlan?
<3> hiswacko: Hmm now? whats the exact ls -la?
<0> o.o
<4> r0bin, thanks, now it is: Couldn't find package gcc3.3-dev
<5> rukuartic: -la?

<3> solaar: Try ndiswrapper. :)
<8> bryan_: funny, theres no source there. :)
<3> hiswacko: -la = list format with all files shown
<0> tyler: apt-cache search gcc3.3
<7> so i'll take that as a no
<7> thanks
<7> cheers
<3> solaar: No, probably does
<0> and get the package name from there
<7> oh
<7> hmm i have a wlan pci card
<3> solaar: I'm using a PCI wlan card, but there's difinately stuff out there for usb wlan
<3> !tell solaar about ndiswrapper
<8> bryan_: anyway, fceultra is the most popular probably... it almost definitely in the repositories... just typeing 'sudo apt-get install fceultra' would install it perfectly.
<7> i tried to get my wlan card to work with pc-bsd
<7> didn't work
<0> tyler_: gcc-3.3-base and gcc-3.3
<3> solaar: Most wlan things need ndiswrapper to get working. Pretty easy to install
<2> would a sleeping x-scrensaver cause linux 2 think it has an evesdropper?
<7> so now i'm gonna try ubuntu
<5> rukuartic: i couldnt write to the usb key, so i wet to the folder properties to enable write access
<2> or other sleeping program
<9> IdleOne sudo: ./Linux.exe: command not found
<4> r0bin, cool, thanks but it looks like it might not even use it... i just inatlled the build-essential and ran the ./install for my realtek alsa and its doing its thing :)
<3> hiswacko: Do you know what filesystem it is?
<7> people always taut linux but damn, it's pretty cool that with windows hardware just works
<0> apt-get install build-essential gcc-3.3 gcc-3.3-base
<0> tyler_: cool :)
<5> rukuartic: probly fat32, i can check
<10> ITSa341> let me try
<3> Can linux write to fat32? Or only fat?
<9> IdleOne I did run that file in WinXP and it is s self extracting zip
<2> because linux talks directly 2 device no BS windows software 2 egt in way
<11> rukuartic: should be both
<9> it extracts some files and folders
<0> okay wtf, my X server just started
<12> rukuartic -> both.
<2> mine is on also
<5> rukuartic: nvm, its fat
<7> rukuartic: do you know of any *nix that supports pci wlan cards natively? it's a dlink card (atheros chipset) if that helps
<3> hatake_kakashi, ^Dingbat^, hiswacko is having problems with his usb card
<3> solaar: nope... Ndiswrapper's really easy to install though
<9> sad when a manufacturer gives you a self extracting .exe file for the linux drivers
<13> ITSa341, :)
<3> solaar: didja check the ubuntu wiki? its got a step by step install tutorial
<13> wine drivers.exe
<14> whats a good BT client?
<3> solaar: and what program are ya using?
<3> ron_: Azureus
<7> right now? irssi
<14> ty
<13> ron_, i tend to use Azuraus
<13> or however the *$*#(@ its spelt
<14> :)
<3> solaar: Der I'm sorry... wlan card
<0> Azureus is java based and memory hungry :(
<9> Dr_Willis I am sharing a filesystem with WinXP I just switched windows and ran it there
<3> r0bin: Yes, but feature filled and it has a cool frog.
<8> solaar: i have a dwl-g510 w/ atheros chipset. had to use ndiswrapper, but there is an atheros native driver that works, but last i tried it was a bit flaky.
<7> it's a 108mbps dlink card, air xpress or soething
<2> ok ssh timed out :P

<0> and utorrent under wine is painful death.
<11> hiswacko: you have to first unmount the device, set it to rw access under /etc/fstab and then try remounting it manually. Not by plugging and unplugging because that may set automount to mount it as ro instead of rw
<7> hold up i'll get the model number
<3> solaar: Definately check the ndiswrapper pages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com
<0> does dapper flight-5 have gnome 2.14?
<8> theres a flight 5?
<7> rukuartic: dwl-g520
<11> r0bin: some runs utorrent under cedega. Don't know whats the output of that in the long run however
<5> hatake_kakashi: how do i set it to rw access under /etc/fstab
<13> utorrent under cedega.. lol..
<0> hatake_kakashi: under wine it's a terrible lag on system resources, even when not downloading anything
<13> thats scary.
<3> solaar: I'm tellin ya man, linux people only help ya to some point :P Then ya gotta kinda learn to do things yourself.
<7> wtf
<4> r0bin, I spoke too soon.. it quit on an error, so then I installed the gcc-3.3 (not the dev) and now it fails with: configure: error: this packages requires a curses library, and 'apt-get install curses' and 'apt-get install lcurses' both won't work - any ideas?
<3> solaar: ndiswrapper is something that takes windows drivers, and makes them work in linux
<0> try apt-get install ncurses
<7> rukuartic: lol thanks man. i'm reading :)
<15> What commands do I use to recursively change group ownership and group permisions?
<3> solaar: No problem. Tell me if you get stuck
<2> eeerr ssh is timing out, any otehr things I can do?
<0> tyler_: ncurses as oppose to lcurses/curses
<10> ITSa341> does that site have a howto that explains how to install it ?
<11> hiswacko: you have to edit it with your favourite text editor and there is a field where you type in for usb devices to set it to rw I think
<16> eugman, chown & chmod, with the -R option
<8> eugman: chmod and chown
<4> r0bin, Package ncurses is not available, but is referred to by another package. :(
<12> isn't an ndiswrapper something you'd use with novell a long time ago? To wrap their packets over ethernet? :)
<9> IdleOne when you run the file in windows it extracts some files and folders with a text file that says ...brb
<11> r0bin: well, that could technically be the design of the utorrent could be somewhat flawed. Then again, wine is a temporary freedom access compared to nothing
<15> Is there a way to change the group aspects without defining everything?
<0> tyler: apt-cache search curses
<4> r0bin, E: Package ncurses has no installation candidate - what does that mean?
<1> k, so i almost got the file opened. i'm in terminal, but is there some kind of command similar to cd in windows?
<11> tyler_: its libncurses
<8> bryan_: its cd
<0> yeah
<17> bryan_: cd is the same thing
<16> eugman, read man chmod
<1> just cd usr (for example)
<10> ITSa341> dont paste in here if its a large amount of text
<15> fair enough
<16> !tell bryan_ about cli
<0> brb, i'm off to rebootz0rs
<18> is there something for gnome that is like superkaramba?
<3> mordof: What is superkaramba?
<12> define superkaramba? :)
<13> gdesklets for gnome, karamba for kde
<4> r0bin, hatake_kakashi, thanks
<2> there is X ked & gnome thats ones I know
<13> YahooWhateveritscalld for XP
<13> :P
<19> superkaramba is just stupid gizmo **** to make your **** run slower
<9> !pastebin
<20> rumour has it, pastebin is a site where you can post large texts and screenshots so you don't flood the channel. You can find it at http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org - Install webboard for easy pasting from the gnome taskbar :)
<18> Dr3as, thanks :)
<3> mordof: Try gkrellm then :P
<18> ooo
<13> and all 3 are nasty Eye candy
<21> super karamba is karamba but super
<22> glick, language check please
<21> lol
<13> :P
<23> #windows people are funny
<2> AND you talk about my language
<24> rukuartic, sounds like KDE crap
<2> ...
<15> umm how do you get out of a man page?
<3> Jhair: No not really. Pretty good. Sysmon thing.
<3> eugman: press q
<22> eugman, q
<25> what is the package with mp3 codec?
<15> thanks
<23> dark_light, w32codecs
