<5> Does anyone know how to set up Audioscrobbler for RB?
<6> dli: heh. i work at an isp, we've got stacks of 'em laying around.
<2> tamale, not really sure about which protocol to use for that, I think it's a mouse protocol thing, but read a howto
<3> they all involve manually editing xorg
<3> that's why i'm asking someone who seems to know about utility editors
<7> !mouse
<8> hmm... mouse is Enabling extra buttons https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ManyButtonsMouseHowto or http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=65471&highlight=evdev Installing extra cursor themes can be done easily with gcursor

<9> allison: did that work?
<2> Double_D, allison_1984 I didn't find any choice of DVD at https://shipit.ubuntu.com/myrequest
<6> dli: oh, i thought that was typo. what dvds do you want from ubuntu?
<6> dli: thought you meant the live/install cd's.
<2> Double_D, so, you have a complete ubuntu without net :(
<6> dli: without net? what do you mean?
<2> Double_D, I said DVD :( the whole debian release fits 3 DVD
<2> Double_D, without downloading any package, you got a complete installation
<10> dli, shipit won't ship DVDs, but you can get DVD ISOs from the download area
<6> dli: oh. no, we don't have any of those, never seen one.
<11> hi, could someone help me plz?
<2> pashminet, never ask to ask
<6> pashminet: just ask ;)
<11> thanks! well
<11> i burnt the cd, but my computer won't boot it
<6> pashminet: the install CD? are you running windows or something right now?
<2> pashminet, burn with data verification
<4> bmw: it is mounted, but I cannot write to the partition
<2> pashminet, try again, it should work
<12> check your bios on your box as well...
<11> data verification? oh god i am so tired
<6> pashminet: you may also need to make sure that your box is set up to boot form the CD before HD.
<12> ;0
<6> pashminet: per Giantkin.
<11> i've changed the bios
<11> giantkin? omg wtf ysl
<12> ysl?
<2> allison_1984, try "mount -oremount,rw,uid=1000,gid=1000 /mnt/whatever"
<11> haha, yves saint laurent
<12> erm
<2> allison_1984, if your uid is 1000 :)
<12> my linux box, i had to use the really cool Net install setup.
<2> allison_1984, on ubuntu, add the crazy "sudo "
<13> no sound, yes i have checked the wikki , what to do next, i rember using alsaconf, not find it in alsa-utils ?
<11> yes, btw, i am running windows
<14> Okay, I'm pissed.
<15> !firefox1.5
<8> You can use firefox 1.5 by following this wiki page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FirefoxNewVersion
<14> I was just on, and connecting fine, right?
<4> dli: sorry it was pack of 6 cds
<14> now ubuntu won't connect to my ap anymore :@
<14> it connects, then disconnects.
<11> so data verification should fix everything?
<2> mlowe, kernel alsa drivers loaded? do you have /proc/asound/cards ?
<6> pashminet: hopefully.
<11> thanks Double_D!
<12> pash. there could be other things that need done. :)
<6> pashminet: eh, thank dli.
<6> pashminet: his idea.
<11> Giantkin: like what? i'm going mad!
<16> blindx: we need more info than that
<11> oops sorry dli
<13> dli yes proc has card0
<12> Try that first, one step at a time. dont fret it. just go step by step.
<12> i am def NOT a linux guy.
<11> ok, i'll try it
<15> !ati
<8> ati is probably https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI or http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=24557&page=1&pp=10 or http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=423589
<2> mlowe, ls -l /proc/asound
<14> hey560: I'm pissed, so I'm not thinking clearly. What information would you like?
<12> !unreal

<8> Giantkin: I don't know, try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<12> heh cool
<13> dli which pastbin ?
<17> !opera
<8> opera is, like, not in the Ubuntu repositories, but you can always download the latest Opera .deb package from http://www.opera.com/download/ and then see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OperaBrowser
<2> mlowe, if card0 is your audio card, check by "sudo lspci"
<14> hey560?
<16> blindx: have you checked the wiki site?
<14> oh there you are :P
<2> mlowe, if it is, run, "alsamixer"
<14> yes, i've checked the wiki site so many times, i could type out the page by memory
<17> lol
<6> blindx: stupid question, what exactly is ap?
<14> access point
<6> blindx: ah, right.
<6> blindx: hmm. what exactly is it? router?
<16> if you got it to work before, it might be that your hardware is buggy
<16> do you have problems in other OS's?
<14> i don't run other os's
<13> lspci is in pastebin
<14> it was working fine in windows.
<6> blindx: might be stupid suggestion, but have you checked your ifconfig to make sure you've got the right ip set to get to it?
<14> it's set to dhcp Double_D
<1> time to go to sleep
<1> thanks for all the great info everybody:)
<16> cya
<14> nn yipe
<16> what driver are you using
<14> ...
<16> and whats your chipset
<14> RT2500 chipset.
<14> it supports it out of the box.
<14> ...supposedly.
<6> blindx: okay. so, you can still check your ifoncfig to see what ip you're pulling. if you're pulling a bull auto-***ign ip that doesn't go anywhere, the problem is either connectivity or buggy hardware likely.
<14> I was connected for like 20 minutes, then i rebooted.. now it won't connect anymore.
<14> is the past tense of reboot rebooted or just.. reboot?
<6> blindx: okay, is your access point a router? i'm not sure, actually, rebooted prolley.
<2> blindx, what's in "iwconfig" ?
<14> yes, ap is a router
<14> dli: im not sure, want me to check? (comp is in other room)
<6> blindx: do you have access to the router (physically)?
<2> blindx, can you get IP ?
<14> yes i do
<14> dli, i can
<13> dli, lspci is in pastebin ?
<14> but then it disconnects almost immediately.
<6> blindx: okay, all else fails, reset the router, enter static ip for default config and get into the router and reconfig your network.
<2> blindx, then, can you ping router ?
<6> blindx: ****s, but sometimes routers just freeze up and need to be reset.
<18> #join debian
<6> fulaano: /join
<14> while i have connection, i can
<14> when it disconnects, i cannot
<2> mlowe, ls -l /proc/asound
<13> i just added it
<19> I need to burn an image (ISO) from a NTFS File System. I have K3b, I can mount the drive under System/Administration/Disks but that only gives root access, I need to either modify access to the disk to allow the K3b to access, or the sudo command to copy the files onto the desktop. I am using ubuntu live.
<6> blindx: if your ifconfig has the ip of the router set as default gateway, try to ping it. if it says 'destination host unreachable,' you've got poor connectivity likely.
<20> ALOOOWWWWW
<14> let me go try some stuff, i'll be back
<6> blindx: which might be fixed by resetting the router and doing all that junk.
<20> alooowww
<21> !cedega
<2> mlowe, run: alsamixer
<4> bmw: its working now.... :)
<9> allison: Great! What was it?
<13> dli, looks like the all have volume
<22> !photoshop
<8> Did you get hit by a windmill? Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, jadaz87
<20> what are you talking about?
<22> !psd
<8> My cat's name is Mittens! Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, jadaz87
<2> mlowe, and not muted ?
<21> !photoshop
