<1> shannon, suspend saves your files but standby does not
<1> np
<2> punkmexic, well, I don't have much experience with SiS cards, so I don't know if your drivers are fine or not
<3> jhenn: Ok. Open a console ... sudo nautilus --no-desktop --browser /mnt
<0> nn svensk som r inne? :P
<4> Bilange: Thanks for the help!! I've already crawled the F1-F8 pages, and found nothing!
<5> Seveas: Actually, it's be nice if fslcon provided links to text versions of the changelog files
<6> arrick: is either safer or faster than the other?
<2> punkmexic, but my default method of dealing with borked autodetect is to edit my xorg.conf
<7> shannon: in standby, the RAM is still powered, so it comes up more quickly. Suspend writes a RAM image to disk and shuts the power down entirely (well almost)
<8> und3rtug4: hmm.. sorry I couldnt help any more!
<1> no
<6> soundray: thanks!
<4> Bilange: I've tried! Thats enough... ;) Thanks!
<3> jhenn: Why don't you have access to /mnt. You probably have to change the rights of the 'user'. Try users-admin

<9> cafuego, even better: it provides them inline with a simple javascript show/hide thingie
<10> KrakensDen, i had a windows xp and ubuntu in dual boot..but then i reinstalled like 3 times ubuntu...and then..my windows xp ntfs partition got a little bit messed up can u help me copy my files from that partitition to ubuntu?
<7> agraupe: I don't think so, except that sometimes you want to start from a clean slate.
<9> cafuego, provided that your .changes is in the same dir as source/deb
<4> Bilange: I will try to find the bottleneck by myself, I hope to find it soon! :)
<11> My kingdom for 5 minutes alone with the ati developers and a chainsaw.
<12> minimec, huh?
<2> punkmexic, there was a conversation in here about mounting nfs drives a little while ago
<2> s/nfs/ntfs
<1> !ntfs
<13> ntfs is, like, the filesystem used in Windows NT and newer; to automatically mount your NTFS partition: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AutomaticallyMountMSWindowsPartitions
<14> i've always wanted to step away from the huge giant of a corporation called microsoft and step into the world of linux. I chose ubuntu for all it's great reviews. I plan on installing it tonight. anyone have any suggestions for a linux newbie?
<8> und3rtug4: good luck, if you ever find it, tell me :)
<9> cafuego, if it doesn't work: file a bug
<4> Bilange: roger that! :)
<5> Seveas: Is it supposed to do this on your mirror?
<9> the .changes are made part of the html - the only thing I have changes for in my repo so far is falcon itself
<5> Ah ok
<5> Seveas: You don't note in debian/changelog what you did to the package?
<9> cafuego, I do, but until recently I threw out the .changes files
<15> BoogerMan28: be sure to go through 'system > help' in your menu so that you can get your bearings
<5> <heh>
<9> btw, I see that I made a slight mistake with the sync, falcon is nowhere to be found
<10> i eddited that xorg.conf and then..i had this error hv. high frequency displayed in my monitor.....and then..i runned again a command to fix the video...i fixed but..then im at 640x800 resolution again
<7> _jason: he didn't even wait for answers as long as it took him to write the question.
<14> thanks doing it now
<5> ye-es.
<3> jhenn: with a normal ubuntu installation you should have access to /mnt (well I think so). If you don't have access to /mnt, it is a question of access-right. Ypu could modify them with sudo users-admin
<9> cafuego, and your mirror throws 403 errors
<7> _jason: ah, okay, I take it all back.
<5> Seveas: which one?
<16> BoogerMan28: if you can install linux on a spart machine first, so you can get formilular with it. is your internet connection behind a modem router ?
<9> mirror2.
<2> puff, what sort of monitor do you have?
<2> er
<5> that's the us one, lemme see
<9> cafuego, actually: both
<2> punkmexic, what sort of monitor do you have?
<15> soundray: heh you had me confused because I'm ignoring quits on this channel but his anme still tab-completed :P
<9> http://mirror3.ubuntulinux.nl/pool/breezy-seveas/extras/ftd_999_all.deb
<9> http://mirror2.ubuntulinux.nl/pool/breezy-seveas/extras/ftd_999_all.deb
<10> can someone reccommend me an easy way..to install the best and small cd/dvd burner
<10> i have a GENERIC MONITOR
<10> its "BTC"
<2> punkmexic, did you finish the last two questions?
<17> Anyone running grip on Dapper for AMD64?
<5> Seveas: Did you start using symlinks?
<9> yes
<9> and a different directory structure
<7> doubletwist: no, I changed to abcde long ago
<10> YES..My questions are about problems with monitor resolution,,and problem accessing a ntfs partition cuz it says some errors
<9> all symlinks stay inside the pool
<5> mirro2 fixed
<2> punkmexic, did you read the doc on mounting windows drives?
<2> !ntfs
<13> it has been said that ntfs is the filesystem used in Windows NT and newer; to automatically mount your NTFS partition: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AutomaticallyMountMSWindowsPartitions
<18> What exactly is different about let's say vim-ruby from plain old vim? What does it mean to provide Ruby scripting support? Can't you already have access to the different syntax highlighting available with vim?
<10> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AutomaticallyMountPartitions?action=show&redirect=AutomaticallyMountMSWindowsPartitions KrakensDen
<10> ill read it

<5> 3 fixed
<10> is there a solution to generic monitors?
<18> and what if i install vim-python also?
<9> cafuego, I had the choice between uploading everything again or making a few symlinks
<7> !tell punkmexic about fixres
<17> I'm finding that grip works but the progress calculations don't show [just says 0.0x] for both ripping and encoding.
<5> Seveas: Yes, this would be slightly more efficient ;-)
<19> in some flash movies I can't see the texts.. any ideas?
<9> cafuego, slightly*6
<10> this is my first time in this channel and i already love it
<5> Seveas: I just have FollowSymlinks disabled byd efault on vhosts; most clients don't even know what a symlink is ;-)
<10> this is love at first sight
<9> hehe
<17> Not sure if it is just me or if I missed a configuration. Unfortunately I lost my .grip config from my previous installation [Breezy i386]
<20> hey guys :)
<10> ill look for a spanish ubuntu channel too :P
<7> punkmexic: we should probably be more mean and disparaging of newbies, then...
<9> punkmexic, give the bot/op a hug
<5> !es
<13> Hispanohablantes: Por favor usen #ubuntu-es, #kubuntu-es o #edubuntu-es, alli obtendran mas ayuda.
<1> ubuntu-es for espanol
<5> !stupid op trick
<21> !tgz
<13> I don't know, try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, NickGarvey
<20> I have a tech-support ish question :p
<22> what could work like mac os's dashboard on gnome, other than gdesklets ????
<10> i imagined that
<9> soundray, other bot
<10> u are too fast to answer
<10> i like that !command implemantion
<12> skwid_, fvwm has some features
<21> how do I uncompress a tgz file?
<10> that provide help and urls
<1> what up NickGarvey
<22> jhenn: ok
<22> i also have a problem with ruby
<20> eee so many people
<23> ya i dont know how to take out soundcards....
<22> i installed it with synaptic
<22> but i get this error
<21> arrick: hello :)
<22> bash: ruby: command not found
<20> and Im afraid to ask my question because y'all think im stupid
<7> Lorny: yeah, you're speaking in public.
<12> NickGarvey, archive manager would do it
<23> ask Lorny
<9> @reload Mess
<23> it wont b stupid, no such thing in this channel
<12> we're not afraid to help our neighbors
<20> heh, Im having problems with filesharing between my OSX (10.4.6) machine and my ubuntu machine
<24> NickGarvey, tar zxvf <file>
<9> Lorny, the only stupid question is the one not asked
<22> :)
<7> Seveas: that is one of the old truisms that isn't true ;)
<23> WOW its a messed up smile!!!!
<23> so... how do i take out this stupid sound card?
<20> I can share over samba, but it only goes at about 6 mb/sec, where my lab can move at 9.1...
<23> or at least find out what it is
<5> Seveas: but why?
<17> soundray Guess I'll give abcde a try...
<10> anyone can reccommend me a good cd burner
<12> Lorny, os x should have an ftp server in it
<12> Lorny, I would personally use ftp over samba
<25> punkmexic: you mean hardware?
<26> gnomeburner
<21> anto9us: isn't that the same as a tar.gz file?
<7> doubletwist: this is the kind of thing that you would have to debug in the source code...
<2> NickGarvey, it is
<26> sorry gnomebaker
