<3> aet: something's really fishy with your /media/hdc1 directory. The `.' link inside it isn't a link to the directory but to something else. Try sudo rmdir /media/hdc1 ; sudo mkdir /media/hdc1 and try mounting again. If mounting fails, pastebin its output as well as the output from a new: ls -la /media /media/hdc1
