<29> Offhand you might try appending ide2=0x180 to your boot options. Or try running with something like knoppix and seeing if it will boot. That may help isolate the problem. (What driver you need for example) I'd try the former first. I don't have any other ideas. It may be the correct module is missing from the livecd, too.
