<0> nalioth i was with wine :P
<1> LjL: gdm/gdm.conf
<1> LjL: line 226
<2> Delvien: that is very very bad behavior.
<0> nalioth whats the problem with that?
<3> LjL: ah, maybe I'm thinking Perl :-) basically it's false in both cases, whether redirected or not (-c appears to work)
<0> nalioth i know its habit, i like having that power LOL
<3> I'll try with descriptor number
<4> thank you see you soon bye
<5> WiFiTux: i'm using kdm, that must be why
<2> Delvien: then you will pay someday for "the power" when a wine virus just happens to cause you pain
<1> LjL: heh, anyway, it does talk about this. Should i gdm restart after changing
<1> ?
<6> I'm having problem with apt-get update (error http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/8400) can anyone help me out?
<5> osfameron: well, "if [ -t 1 ]" appears to work fine here
<5> WiFiTux: i really think so

<7> that worked
<8> I repeat the question: how i add the icons of my partition in nautilus computer:// and in my desktop??
<7> 1 more thing
<1> LjL: /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf:# If true this will basically append -nolisten tcp to every X command line, a
<7> anyway to set away with having a poped up box
<9> Wanted: did you mount the partitions?
<5> WiFiTux: that must be it then
<8> yes
<7> how?
<8> _jason: my partitions are mounted
<2> learner_learner: paste your sources.list please to a pastebin
<9> Wanted: mount them to /media/something
<1> LjL: now, the stupid question. Does it make a diff to comment or to do =false?
<6> a sec nalioth
<8> _jason: no... in /mnt/..
<5> WiFiTux: if it were for me, i'd type false
<1> LjL: thanks.
<0> nalioth aye :) then ill be screwed :)
<9> Wanted: :) to get what you want, mount them to /media/something
<5> WiFiTux: how, never got it? typing false just means you're setting it to false. commenting it out means it will take the default value -- and we don't really know what the default value is
<1> LjL: true.
<6> nalioth, here http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/8401
<8> tanks _jason
<1> LjL: and the last file. /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc:exec /usr/bin/X11/X -dpi 100 -nolisten tcp
<3> LjL: yeah, the descriptor number works fine! thanks for that
<1> LjL: I guess that is the one
<5> WiFiTux: i'd leave that the way it is right now, and try simply with the other option you changed
<2> learner_learner: you are running dapper now?
<1> LjL: ok
<10> WiFiTux: :D
<6> nalioth, nopes.
<10> WiFiTux: hp and alsa people cannot make a system that I won't make work :P
<6> I haven't upgraded, nalioth
<10> WiFiTux: do -> !v2000z
<10> :D
<11> is there an apt-get package for rar?
<9> ubotu: tell p33ka about rar
<10> p33ka: use apt-cache or synaptic to search for it
<10> !rar
<12> methinks rar is a non-free archive format created by Rarsoft. For instructions on accessing .rar files through the Archive Manager view https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FileCompression
<2> learner_learner: then you have trouble. your sources.list says different
<10> WiFiTux: did you ask ubotu about v2000z?
<13> i need to get my computer to share its printer quickly, i already have cupsd listening on 631, now how do i make windows print to it?
<14> !moo

<15> I'd like to copy some shadow p***word entries over from another linux, where is the shadow p***word file on Ubuntu?
<2> ubotu: tell learner_learner about sources
<10> ubotu tell WiFiTux about v2000z
<14> _pat, /etc/shadow of course...
<10> ubotu tell Seveas about v2000z
<10> :D
<6> nalioth, I'm using Hoary Hedgehog
<15> ahhhh.... hahah was looking for *master* and *p***wd*
<15> Seveas. thanks!
<2> learner_learner: then you need only hoary repos.
<14> slavik, stop it, it's annoying

<6> ya ok
<9> nalioth: hoary sources aren't in the factoid iirc
<10> sorry, I wanted you to see it :)
<16> why does XChat IRC and ubuntu-desktop need to be removed in order to install Gnome XChat?
<10> Wanted you to be proud of a ubuntu user :D
<17> Anyone know how to get rid of the really ugly notiifcation bubbles in Dapper?
<18> System -> Logout
<10> lol
<10> cafuego: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/CompaqPresarioV2000Z
<10> :D
<10> I got the problem fixed :D
<6> nalioth, these are only for breezy and dapper
<17> :P
<10> X got int trouble, too
<10> :(
<2> _jason: the URL design is simple to make happen only have one of the following warty/hoary/breezy/dapper
<16> why does XChat IRC and ubuntu-desktop need to be removed in order to install Gnome XChat?
<2> learner_learner: ^^^^
<18> !wiki LaptopTestingTeam/CompaqPresarioV2000Z
<9> nalioth: right, I know this, but learner_learner probably does not :)
<14> !wiki Cafuego
<12> Cafuego: Cafuego lives at [WWW] http://www.cafuego.net/
<19> I just tried to install ubuntu on my amd64 using this iso: ubuntu-5.10-install-amd64.iso.. The insall menu seemed to boot nicely, but was halted when it tried to load the installer or something from the cd, saying that some file might be corrupt and that you should do a integrety check on the cd. I have downloaded and burned the iso twice from different ftp servers and had no verfication problems. Does anyone know the problem here??
<16> Why does Gnome XChat require that I remove ubuntu-desktop
<16> ?
<6> what?, _jason
<20> your md5 is OK ?
<14> pianoboy3333: please stop repeating the same question. If someone knows, (s)he will answer. You can try posting on the mailing list too.
<9> learner_learner: if I confused you, please ignore me
<16> sory......
<19> my mainboard is btw a gigabyte ga-k8n-sli "nforce4" wtih a amd64 3500, 7800gt nvidia
<19> thanks in advance.
<21> hello
<22> hi
<20> ...
<6> _jason, is Hoary no more supported?
<21> you speak italian?
<2> learner_learner: hoary is supported.
<2> ubotu: tell learner_learner about easysource
<23> i'm trying to mount a secondary hardisk (ext3) but my normal user account cant write to it
<10> boxman: did you try to install ubuntu? or is this your main and only system?
<23> how can i make it so that i can write to it?
<1> slavik: sup?
<10> WiFiTux: I got ubuntu to boot on the v2000z :D
<20> is there have chinese ???
<10> turns out the hda-intel module was the problem
<1> :)
<19> boxman, this is my only 64bit system yes. It halted before i managed to get to the part where you actually install anything. I had the same version of ubuntu running nicely on my old 32bit system.
<10> !cn
<12> NO SPEAKE ENLISH! Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, slavik
<10> hmm
<10> !ch
<12> Huh? Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/, slavik
<1> slavik: that one came with Azalia sound
<1> ?
<10> WiFiTux: no ... it's ATI sound
<10> it has to load atiixp ... but never does.
<10> because it tries to load the hda-intel module which tries to find the chip but has a loop that never terminates (keep looking for the intel sound card)
<19> slavik, this is my only 64bit system yes. It halted before i managed to get to the part where you actually install anything. I had the same version of ubuntu running nicely on my old 32bit system.*
<5> WiFiTux, osfameron: sorry for leaving, my system crashed badly
<1> slavik: ah, and why hda?
<23> how do i load a ext3 partition in read/write mode so that normal users can write to it?
<1> LjL: have a good one

<9> ubotu: tell aridese about ntfs
<18> aridese: chmod or chown
<1> slavik: ok
<23> _jason it's not NTFS
<23> ext3
<9> aridese: that page despite being name windows will tell you how
<10> WiFiTux: it wasn't supposed to load the hda-intel module in the first place ... crimsun suggested that it might be a PCI ID thing.
<23> ok
