<0> mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
<1> ASDFG: nothing
<2> toxic_: ok. I think mounting it is easiest. and with sth like smb4k it's no trouble at all
<0> so how can i get the cd out
<1> ASDFG: sudo umount /media/cdrom0 && eject
<3> hi
<4> mwe, ok thanks for the tip, I'll probably try the mounting thing :)
<0> LoCusf shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo unmount /media/cdrom0 &&eject
<0> P***word:
<0> sudo: unmount: command not found
<1> ASDFG: try unmount
<1> *umount
<5> What's the command to show desktop?
<4> ASDFG, try umount
<6> weird in order to get apt-get -f install i had to kill postfix

<7> I'm having a problem disabling the integrated video card that came with my computer. Ubuntu keeps trying to detect and use this card, but I want it to use the PCI card that I put in instead.
<0> Usage: umount [-hV]
<0> umount -a [-f] [-r] [-n] [-v] [-t vfstypes] [-O opts]
<0> umount [-f] [-r] [-n] [-v] special | node...
<8> is it possible to make a largeer desktop then the screen span two monitors?
<7> Is there a way to disable the integrated card so that it won't be detected?
<6> can you disable the card in the bios of the pc?
<1> ASDFG: umount /dev/hdc
<9> Dr_Willis: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/11880 -- what could be wrong with it?
<1> ASDFG: with sudo
<7> I don't think so. I looked there. :-\
<4> mwe, the name was "smbmount" ? Can't find it in the repositories list
<10> say i have a laptop and i wanted to use an external screen with it, can i make each screen show a different desktop?
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo umount /dev/hdc
<0> umount: /dev/hdc: not mounted
<11> hey im tryin to get windows to boot from grub...the windows drive is hd1 and linux drive is hd0..its ntfs but grub tells me something about unrecognized file type
<12> will someone suggest a good program to downsize my windows partition?
<11> anyone know what i should do?
<7> TruckerMan: PartitionMagic is considered pretty good.
<7> It's not free, though. I don't know of any free programs.
<10> TruckerMan: gpart?
<12> will someone suggest a good program to downsize my windows partition? from inside linux
<11> gparted i think TruckerMan
<5> How do I make Ubuntu find a MMC card I just plugged in? How do I mount it=?
<10> TruckerMan: sorry, gparted
<12> heh, ok
<13> MenZa, it normally will just find it
<12> thank
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo umount /dev/hdc
<0> umount: /dev/hdc: not mounted
<5> sethk: not for me.
<7> Will gparted nondestrutively resize NTFS partitions?
<14> !iptables
<13> MenZa, it may not be formatted
<13> MenZa, or you may need to add kernel support for that particular device
<11> G0SUB_
<13> MenZa, what kind of stick is it?
<5> Yeah it is, sethk - but I think it's opening it now.
<11> GuardianAtomos i doubt it\
<15> guys.. everytime I run windows, I have to re-do this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ShareInternetConnection ... is there a way to make it as default?
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo umount /dev/hdc
<0> umount: /dev/hdc: not mounted
<13> MenZa, dmesg will show you if the kernel is finding it, although if it is open, it must be finding it :)
<7> TruckerMan: If you don't want to format the partition, Google for a nondestructive partitioning tool.
<11> is there a way to run the grub setup script again that runs at install? maybe it will get my windows working..anyone ?
<0> does that mean my cdrom is not mount
<16> GuardianAtomos: AFAIK with gparted you can resize the partition but not the filesystem, you can resize the filesystem with ntfsresize (ntfstools package)
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo umount /dev/hdc
<0> umount: /dev/hdc: not mounted
<17> hello guys
<7> Ah, gotcha.
<14> how do i get my machine to forward the IP range for azureus?
<10> ASDFG: how about sudo umount /media/cdrom/ ?
<17> i'm on ubuntu live right now
<17> wt
<17> w00t
<17> anybody can tell me how to access my HDD?
<18> how do I change the terminal resolution when not using X?
<5> uNrEaLiTy: if you think the LiveCD owns, wait 'til you install it =D
<0> it says not mounted
<10> uNrEaLiTy: mount it? :]

<0> so how should i mount it
<10> ASDFG: mount /media/cdrom/
<17> how to mount?
<15> guys.. everytime I run windows, I have to re-do this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ShareInternetConnection ... is there a way to make it as default?
<9> how do i get icons of CD drives out of "computer" -- the drives are empty.. why are tehre multiple icons for the same drive?
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ mount /media/cdrom
<0> mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
<10> ASDFG: you tried that with sudo before?
<5> GURT: you asked already :p
<19> moggio_: Look into vga modes as kernel parameters at boot time. For instance, for mine (1024x768) I use vga=0x318
<20> how do you unpacka .zip.gz?
<20> same as tar?
<21> while upgrading to dapper apt-get gets stuck at: "preparing to replace portmap"
<22> gnomefreak: gunzip and then unzip I guess
<9> MenZa: still waiting for an answer or a lead or anything other than "hide them with gconf"
<20> ok _jason ty ill try
<0> yeah i have
<10> uNrEaLiTy: mount -t filesystem /dev/hdaX /media/mountpoint (where X is partition number)
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$ sudo mount /media/cdrom/
<0> P***word:
<0> mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
<17> how do i access the command line?
<22> uNrEaLiTy: accessories > terminal
<20> ty _jason that worked a lil too well i think
<5> uNrEaLiTy: simply open a terminal, applications -> accesories -> terminal.
<17> thanks guys
<23> George007, One solution that comes to mind, is write a simple script :)
<24> I was wondering if someone could help me with some C++ code
<10> uNrEaLiTy: Alt+f2 and type: gnome-terminal
<5> devscott_laptop: well, state your question
<5> Can anyone tell me how I modify opacity in Gnome?
<22> devscott_laptop: there is ##c++
<18> tonyyarusso:ok thanks i'll take a look at that
<10> ASDFG: what does ls -l /dev/hdc return?
<25> props to artwork people for dapper...
<25> nice disclamer on the gnome login screen
<24> thanks _jason
<26> hallo zusammen ;-)
<15> jon_, mind helping me with that?
<0> shinu shuan@ubuntu:~$ ls -l /dev/hdc return
<0> ls: return: No such file or directory
<0> brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 2006-04-09 18:57 /dev/hdc
<0> shuan@ubuntu:~$
<27> evening all
<10> hiya

<10> ASDFG: im not sure whats wrong..
<25> has anybody gotten rss-xgl working?
<27> quick q. i have 2 hdd drives hda has hda1 doze hd5 and hd6 is ubuntu
<27> i want to let hdb be my /home how do i format it
<28> hi
<28> how do I remove all the gnome apps and the gnome desktop?
<0> weird
<29> binks: hda is the actual physical drive, hda1 is a partition (and hda5, etc, all hda#) on that drive.
<27> yes sorry i no
<19> hyperactivecrond: What's the disclaimer?
<27> but hdb1 5 6 all need to become /home
<25> "This is not the final Dapper artwork " or something like that
<29> oh, right, sorry, read that as "two drives, hda and hda1" anyway, you'll want to format hdb using... whatever.
<30> Hi all
<23> George007, There's probably an easier, that'd just be my "hacked" way to do it. You basically just put all those commands one after another in a script, make sure they are all typed correctly. Save it as "share.sh" or something like that. And either add it to boot, or just when you start up Ubuntu type in "sh share.sh"
<19> hyperactivecrond: Ah.
<31> how do i start at X app (ktorrent) via ssh? i get an error about "Can't determine DISPLAY"...
<27> can i do it from gnome
<29> and then you just have to mount hdb5 (or whatever) to /home
<27> or do i need to boot into cfdisk
<30> Can I ask a question?
<10> eSPete: ssh -X maybe?
<29> binks: you can, go get gparted
<19> mechatronic: Of course.
<15> I see
<15> thx jon_
<27> gparted cheers flannelking
