<13> todd, where do you type what in?
<11> pastebin /boot/grub/menu.lst
<13> todd, open a terminal, type "gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst" then pastebin the contents of the file that opens
<13> !pastebin
<0> well, pastebin is http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/, a site for pasting long texts so you don't disrupt the channel - or install webboard in Gnome: http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=1269
<14> Hello all, quick newbie question -- I am attempting to run ./configure on an application I downloaded called rdesktop-1.4.1 -- a message returns that says, "Couldn't find openssl libraries use --with-openssl option to fix this problem". So I type $which openssl to get the directory and then retry the ./configure --with-openssl=/usr/bin/openssl , but I get the same error. Anyone see where I amgoing wrong?
<11> ?????
<12> todd, oh sorry, you have to say my name if you need my attention, otherwise I dont notice
<11> o ok
<11> DBO: so what do i do
<12> type "cat /boot/grub/menu.lst > ~/newfile"

<11> DBO: in terminal
<12> yes
<5> renlore, any of the ID or Unreal games
<15> whats ID?
<13> renlore, sure - depends what you're into
<12> todd, after that there will be a file in your home directory named "newfile" open it up and pastebin its contents
<5> renlore, are rather large company, they made Quake, Doom etc
<15> is there any database of linux games with rating etc? :)
<5> renlore, yes but i cant remember where it is, you have different formats, like native binary and WINE/CEDEGA supported

<11> DBO: both are set to cable select if that matters?
<12> todd, no it doesnt, is one linux and one windows?
<11> DBO: right
<12> todd, you didnt by chance go into BIOS and change your hard drive boot order at some point did you?
<11> DBO: shouldnt the HD boot first
<17> root@defcon8:/home/defcon8/Desktop/azureus# apt-cache update
<17> W: Couldn't stat source package list http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com breezy/universe Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_breezy_universe_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
<17> what is with that?
<11> DBO: i think the HD is #1 i havent changed it
<17> has more things that it cant find aswell
<12> todd, ok, thats all I needed to know is that you didnt touch it
<11> DBO: k
<18> hey, just installing ubuntu onto another laptop, will ubuntu recognise wifi by default, or will an ethernet cable be necessary till later?
<13> Smerity, that depends on your wireless chipset
<19> defcon8 does `apt-get update` give the same error?
<11> DBO: can we still do this
<12> todd, yes, you need to wait a couple minutes please
<14> Smerity, during the install of Breezy it found both, I enabled the wired ethernet port and then switched over to eth1 in network properties.
<18> Madpilot - It's a Centrino (argh), but does that mean Ubuntu _could_ actually autodetect wifi and set it up thru there
<18> oh sweet
<11> DBO: sorry man my bad
<5> Anyone here use any Entity Relationship diagramming at all ?
<18> thanks ubuntu_user_1 and Madpilot =)

<17> no its ok now thanks
<12> todd, we will get it working in 10 minutes
<18> ubuntu_user_1, Madpilot - Just got up to network detect, and lovely Ubuntu got both ^_^ Thanks for the help
<12> todd, http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/11749
<12> I added stuff to the bottom
<13> Smerity, nice when it works, isn't it? :P
<12> it MAY not work right away (depending on your setup) but we can get it going
<20> hay
<14> Smerity, sweet.
<20> need help on instzalling phpmyadmin
<11> DBO: yea thats the link i sent u right
<4> WebLOCH: looked at Umbrello? It's in the universe repository
<20> this offical ubuntu apckage is very old
<19> Din so download a new one from www.phpmyadmin.net and extract it into your webserver where you want it
<12> todd, yeah, but its changed now
<5> rorry, nasty KDE software, but yeah ill check it out thanks
<11> DBO: k so what do i need to do with it
<11> DBO: copy/paste
<12> todd "sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst"
<12> then add those paste those changes into the bottom
<11> DBO: k
<21> how do you install apache2 on ubuntu?
<19> !tell mthakur about apache2
<5> !pache2
<0> WebLOCH: I haven't a clue, try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<5> haha
<5> my bad
<21> ?
<19> mthakur sudo apt-get install apache2
<21> is that it
<13> !+apache
<0> I heard apache is https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ApacheMySQLPHP
<19> or use a GUI like Adept or synaptic to install it
<13> mthakur, see the URL ubotu just posted ^^^
<21> what do you search for in synaptic
<20> i tried but i get so many errors
<19> mthakur most likely apache ?
<21> yes
<11> DBO: it says its a read olny file and Could not create per-user gnome configuration directory `/root/.gnome2/': Read-only file system
<22> mthakur, search for apache2, better package
<14> mthakur, I found the following tutorial, it is more geared toward ruby on rails but it has all of the apache installation commands - you should be able to cut and paste http://davidwinter.me.uk/articles/2006/02/05/ubuntu-5-10-web-server-howto
<12> todd, are you ok to use nano?
<21> newayz thanks Flieslikeabrick
<11> DBO: olny if ur helping me through it
