<6> Running on root is not a bad thing, it really isnt. Not when you are responsible, which I am. I have not gotten a single virus, piece of spyware or other malware in over 3 years on Windows XP.

<15> Once you understand what a partition table is and what it does, you'll realize that there's no magic to what Ghost does. If you like the fancy interface, then that's fine. But as far as "features" go, there isn't much there.

<8> Automatix is unsafe, it overwrites configuration files, and does other harmful things like "echo -e 'ynY\n'" that are considered security risks. Please do not use it. There are alternative applications but the best thing is to read documentation.

<15> Also note that doing backups via drive image is almost always the wrong design. You want a backup that you can restore to production use on a new system after your existing one dies, and that almost always means doing filesystem space backups and writing restoration documentation. Disk images are really only useful for a single desktop machine.
