<0> joedj: /etc/enviroment overrides /etc/profile I think
<1> arrrgh why won't Samba work
<2> Elko: it's been crazy
<3> Why is there no /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so on Dapper? Isn't it normal to symlink /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so to /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3.3.3?
<4> daniel_bergamini: sharing was easy - mounting is hard
<5> gnomefreak: wotif.com.au. Works for a bit, then boom!
<6> Elko, ever since June 1st, it's been packed
<7> Elko: all the useless people like me wanting help with their fresh new Dapper installs.
<8> svigi_wlan: doesn't work.. :S

<15> Hey

<11> racoon97, what?
<1> don't worry
<15> what about?
<1> problem solved
<1> :)
<6> jmspeex: Ubuntu
<9> I'm getting this error I found with google: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/14881 about lvm2_2.02.02-1ubuntu1_i386.deb, any fix yet, or should I just wait and let the computer powered on?
<11> Weirdbro, http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/15016
<16> jaideep, i don think you need to update the update manager
<17> hypert: what shows iwconfig?
<13> sudomania4> sorry ;)
<12> Is there any good wine on dapper howto around? I have tried using both official ubuntu repository to install wine, and packages from winehq.org - however, nowhere I can find the package "winetools"
<16> jaideep, did you change the repos?
<18> hi again anyone expert in ati graphics and fxglr drivers?
<19> hi whats the difference between server and dekstop editions ?
<5> Jimmey__: where's the bug tracker?
<12> After some googling I've found that winetools was in winehq's repo, but it's not anymore - what can I do to seamlessly install and use wine od dapper?
<14> pradeep, i'm unable to update it.... how do i change the repos?
<20> my frostwire tells me it's connected in the bottom left corner but i can't download anything
<8> svigi_wlan: acces point: not ***ociated
<6> jmspeex, it's hidden in the menus; Give me a minute..
<15> sudomania: Oh, woah, I have no idea
<14> pradeep, what do i change them to?
<17> is the correct ssid set?
<16> jaideep, can i PM you?
<14> sure
<19> i basically want to use it as a desktop but also want a webserver with php and mysql and also a dc++ server
<19> should i go for the server or desktop edition of ubuntu ?
<21> take the desktop
<2> maticompxp: winetools has been broken for a while now - best leave it alone
<17> i think desktop
<21> and install lamp later on
<19> ok
<17> because the server ****s on older machines
<21> -l
<20> can someone help me with frostwire
<22> mikey: mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt/folder -o user=username,p***=p***word,domain=domain
<19> no i have 512 mb ram
<19> athlon 1700
<16> jaideep, i dont think pm is worknig
<12> Frogzoo: so are there any other tools to easily configure wine and install everything (with internet explorer as well)? some kind of winesetuptk, or.. i don't know?
<8> svigi_wlan: it's correct ssid
<21> should run peachy on those specs
<11> bbl
<19> but i noticed the server version is only 430 mb in size
<8> but i try with capital letters
<14> pradeep, i can see your pms
<21> gnome is big
<19> whereas the desktop iso is 700 mb

<17> i think it's case-sensitive
<12> Frogzoo: it was basically few button clicks using winetools... that's a pity that it's not working anymore
<19> ok so server dosent come with gnome?
<17> or try with the name: any?!
<23> anyone had luck installing the latest nvidia drivers on dapper?
<21> dunno
<24> r3nd3r, exactly
<19> ok
<19> then i guess i need the desktop version
<21> ytou dont need a GUI in order to run a server
<19> thanks
<25> Does anyone know how to make the Kernel look for a device on a differnet IRQ? In Breezy, my NIC card is on IRQ11 and works properly, in Dapper it's on 9 and doesn't work at all...
<26> r3nd3r: if you have server installed you can just download the gnome packages
<8> svigi_wlan: capital letters don
<8> svigi_wlan: capital letters don+
<27> Is the terminal installer based on the Debian Installer? I tought they looked very similar
<28> Havin' a prob installing onto PowerPC; ATi video problems.
<8> svigi_wlan: capital letters don't work. i try any now
<16> jaideep, open /etc/apt/sources.list as root
<29> jmspeex: do you have java installed for ff?
<21> ati doesnt like linux
<16> jaideep, and replace the word breezy with dapper everywhere
<29> jmspeex: the site is javascript (all of the site)

<31> hi all

<32> it has been said that ati is http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/ch04.html#installatidriver or https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI ... the radeon 9200 and below are supported by the open-source drivers.
<8> svigi_wlan: any doesn't work too.. :(
<21> there you go
<14> pradeep, i did
<28> ty
<16> jaideep, save the file
<30> Seveas: ping. i want to talk tto you,
<31> can someone help me with gerring he stupid network up plz? :(
<17> hypert: try iwconfig eth1 essid yourssid
<6> noR, it's difficult with PowerPC, the x86 binaries might not work
<17> is your module loaded into kernel?
<33> Sir_Brizz: are you sure the device driver is compiled into the kernel rather than being in a kernel module? The method of telling them the IRQ is different so it matters...
<21> just check if ati has powerpc /linux drivers
<34> noob question: how do i install .run packages?
<14> pradeep, yes saved as another filename
<24> Morrowyn, it does not
<21> pity
<16> jaideep, and do a apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade" as root in the terminal

<14> ok
<16> jaideep, replace the file
<28> Jimmey__: I'm using ppc binaries, not i386
<28> ty
<28> !ati
<32> it has been said that ati is http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/ch04.html#installatidriver or https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI ... the radeon 9200 and below are supported by the open-source drivers.
<34> Jimmey__ how did you know :S
<4> daniel_bergamini: I'm trying to use credentials to control who can access it. my /etc/fstab is //clinton/mp3 /media/clinton/mp3 smbfs credentials=~/.smbcredentials,dmask=770,fmask=700,gid=1010 0 0. And it can't find ~/.smbcredentials and separately if I set credentials to something like /etc/samba/.smbcredentials the gid wont gain me access to the folder. It just ignores that I'm a member of that group.
<14> oh should i empty the file? pradeep
<31> what does ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP) mean?
<6> Juzzy, it's the only .run I've ever seen :) If ET worked nicely on this laptop with Ubuntu, I'd give you a game, but it screws up
<31> i get such an error when i try to get the network up
<14> pradeep, what should i replace the file with?
<34> oh ok, yeah well just got the .run files and i'll try it out
<16> no jaideep, just replace the word breezy with dapper in the file
<34> if i can get it to work i'll convert my main desktop over to ubuntu finally :D
<14> oh ok....
<35> how do i remove directorys even if they are not empty ? command line
<16> jaideep, wherever it occcurs
