<0> hey I could make it where they can but only if they start offering ubuntu on their PCs
<1> its dapper available yet ?
<2> they are waiting for 0:00 gmt -12
<3> does anybody know that is apt-get update process will changing my edited script?
<4> majd just asked a good question: can you create restore points in Ubuntu? Or something like them?
<5> thug, not offically but we believe we've found it
<6> troy_s: It's all behind a hardware firewall - I'm just transfering over my LAN.
<7> troy_s, please look at this
<8> wow how leet.
<7> (--) PCI:*(2:0:0) nVidia Corporation unknown chipset (0x0185) rev 193, Mem @ 0xfd000000/24, 0xe8000000/27, BIOS @ 0xfeae0000/17
<5> thug, http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185570
<9> [1]Troy: You don't have to worry about me. I'm not gonna attempt it on my dialup. :P
<10> Hentai_Jeff: They almost did have it preinstalled on a laptop instead of XP
<11> troy_s: I lied. I just found a stream that doesn't do that. But I still wonder why some of the others are.
<8> joe: that's fine. just make sure 22 is open.
<12> lol viaken

<10> Hentai_Jeff: OOps that was HP
<13> Saj, not that I know of. I've looked and found nothing like it. I think something like this should be a standard program that comes with every distro.
<0> Dell thought about it
<9> jtd: You could probably just backup /etc/, or everything except /home/ and use that as a restore point.
<1> nbx909 what do you mean you belive you`ll find it ?
<14> in true fairness, they are waiting for all countries to p*** to 1st of June (just a guess)
<8> laf...
<15> DarkTower: I can't see them doing it though, they can't bloat Ubuntu as easily as they can XP with crap. :)
<0> their servers use fedora core too
<16> what are they waiting for?
<12> axion?? - you know torrent site for it?
<9> !dapper
<17> Ubuntu 6.06 LTS 'Dapper Drake' will be released in less than 24 hours, but not at 0:00 UTC! (NO, we cannot be more precise)
<8> uh ray: you will need nvidia drivers
<5> thug, we believe we have found
<13> Saj, I think qjoypad just needs to be promoted more.
<5> thug, it
<5> lol
<8> ray: you aren't using them are you?
<15> Wait.
<8> !nvidia
<17> Help about installing the nVidia drivers on Ubuntu can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia
<15> LTS is the final version of DApper?
<9> They'll be releasing whenever they ---- well please.
<18> screw the other countries I want it now!
<19> anybody know where i can specify for example alias 8139too eth1
<4> Viaken: that procedure sounds sketchy to me :)
<20> it's been the 1st here for 17 and a 1/2 hours. why are we wating for the slow people :)
<0> but M$ told Dell no
<7> troy_s, yes i am
<9> ~lts
<9> !lts
<17> well, lts is Long Term Support. LTS versions will be supported for 3 years on the desktop, and 5 years on the server.
<9> jtd: I'm all about sketchy. :D
<14> ray__: try this: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
<8> ray: and gl is working all well and good?
<1> nbx909 well give me the link then :)
<7> refer to http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/14943
<8> ray: listen to jose for a few...
<21> This is today's daily build torrent - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/dapper-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent NOT THE FINAL AFAIK
<10> rendo: haha. but i think HP really will, they actual made a version of ubuntu with supprt for all parts of that laptop available on their website in case you wanted to get rid of XP. Bet m$ put the pinch on em at the last moment
<4> heh.
<5> thug http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185570
<12> thx man.
<15> DarkTower: *shakes fist* Those bastards.
<6> nbx909: thanks, looks mega-easy
<22> nomin: true, i bet you can use it for remotely controling model aircraft:D via your linux box
<7> geez... what's gl?
<0> BTW is there anything different offered on the ubuntu server version then the text only install?
<3> does anybody know where to put the web folder ? i have installed apache
<19> anybody?
<21> Hentai_Jeff... u mean "other" than?
<10> rendo: how amazing would it be for a major vendor like that to be preinstalling ubuntu
<23> intelikey: my computer is connected to a network centralised to a server that registered all profile usine this computer... So my firefox doen't work.... Now my question is should i solve it localy on the PC, or I have to edit my profile on the server?????
<19> where can i add alias 8139too eth0
<15> DarkTower: It would be a dream come true to the community.
<21> yes, the link i posted is the daily build liveCD
<20> axion`: the desktop live CD has a graphical installer
<14> ray
<10> rendo: bill gates would cry lol
<14> ray__: did you get that?

<8> joetheodd: it doesn't matter if it is secure or not. learn ssh - it is an amazingly useful too.
<13> Saj, there's probably quite a few uses people can get out of mouse and keyboard emulation.
<8> joetheodd: tool.
<24> !runlevel
<17> mikedep333: Not a clue. Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<25> be nice if HP contributed patches
<24> !runlevels
<17> mikedep333: Huh? Try searching at http://ubuntu.cc.com.au/
<15> DarkTower: And it would all be caught on tape, and it would be the most downloaded torrent in history. :P
<10> hehehe
<26> ubuntubes, after installing apache you should create public_html/ in your home directory for a web folder
<27> wow. Dapper still doesn't autoload kernel drivers for PCMCIA cards
<1> nbx909 thanks you ... its that the official release ?
<28> Why does Ubuntu seem to be a m***ive target for hatred?
<0> hmm I just remembered a cosplay skit from a few years back
<7> yes, josestefan. i've run that earlier today actually when i installed this nvidia card
<0> has anyone seen chobits?
<22> dapper out yet?
<18> i am working on clearing out my computer to do a fresh install right now
<25> read the topic
<9> Not yet, Saj.
<7> troy_s, what is gl?
<21> CHodapp, because of its potential for greatness, and the normal troll hatred of things that are popular
<22> viaken: :(
<25> gl = opengl, a graphics system
<29> 69_@ yahoo.com
<8> ray: opengl. do you get the nvidia boot logo when it loads?
<30> Hey, someone wanna help me with vnc and an ubuntu>XP connection? pm me
<31> CHodapp: because it's more successful than others
<3> Unenvarjo : is that all so anybody can access to my web?
<1> nbx909 hope you didnt give me the beta release ;)
<14> ray__: alternativly, you could do it without the -phigh paramter, and it will ask you a lot of questions, i suggest using the "nv" driver instead of "nvidia" for the time being
<7> troy_s, yes i did until i turned it off
<28> It's certainly been getting a lot of publicity for being apparently a lot more easier than Windows to install and set up
<31> trolls like to go wherever the people are
<9> CHodapp: No matter what it is, you'll always find someone who hates it.
<32> doesnt dapper come out today? (tommorow, whatever you wanna say)
<31> of course
<0> Chodapp:it has?
<2> !dapper
<17> Ubuntu 6.06 LTS 'Dapper Drake' will be released in less than 24 hours, but not at 0:00 UTC! (NO, we cannot be more precise)
<31> to remind them that cthulhu is coming
<26> ubuntubes, yes. It shows as http://yourhost.yourdomain/~youraccount/ when using a browser
<4> fiendskull9: should do, yes.
<33> thug: nbx909 gave you the latest daily build, which some people here think will be identical to the same release.
<32> yayaya
<32> i cant wait
<8> ray: ok well then you are def on the driver...
<0> most ppl don't even see windows geting installed
<28> Hentai_Jeff, relative to other distros, at least.
<24> can anyone tell me how to check what runs on what runlevels in dapper?
<34> i've seen that message 15 times in the last 2 minutes lol
<7> josestefan, i'm currently having no problems on my desktop, i just can't get svideo out to work on TV
<28> Hentai_Jeff, nope, they don't.
<4> I should have had a Dapper release party :)
<0> so they don't really know
<8> ray: do a little hunting under dual head mode. twinview is some driver mod by nvidia.
<32> probably around 8-9 am CST?
<23> kbrosnan:my computer is connected to a network centralised to a server that registered all profile usine this computer... So my firefox doen't work.... Now my question is should i solve it localy on the PC, or I have to edit my profile on the server?????
<8> ray: dual head mode is the more x-windows pure way of doing that sort of thing.
<15> I wonder how pissed my wife would be if she woke up to Ubuntu as her OS.....
<10> will the official ubuntu book be coming out in print??
<3> Unenvarjo : no I dont want ~ , I just want it to be on root
<25> heh
<14> ray__: oh, i thought you had X starting problems :S
<2> rendo, how good is she with comps?
<4> rendo: back it up first, then upgrade her to Ubuntu :)
<30> Hey, someone wanna help me with vnc and an ubuntu>XP connection? pm me
<25> my wife thought it was cool when she'd wake up without windows on her pc
<25> long as it booted
<7> sorry, josestefan. i should have specified
<2> is there anything she does that she cant possibly do on nix
<15> grv: She's an idiot. :P
