<0> hi..thr..anyone using hula ?? <1> prashant, I've played with it before. <2> is suse's package management usually this weird? <3> mastershake: it's somewhat broken in 10.1 <4> mastershake: its quiet broken in 10.1 <0> wickers > any good link to configure hula ?? <1> mastershake, drunken code-monkeys got a hold of it before the release, now SUSE has to pick up the leftovers. <2> why did they release it then? lol <5> hey, whats that little program that takes screen captures called <0> i got upto admin interface.. <3> SuSEhelp: ned <6> ned is Novell Entropy Dept <3> penguinplayer: ksnapshot <1> prashant, just wondering, but are you using this for a small business? or are you just playing around? <5> awesome, thanks <4> !screenshot
<6> to take a screenshot, press: ctrl prntscrn for the entire desktop desktop, and alt prntscrn for the active window. The screen shot is then in the clipboard and you can paste it on the desktop or into any folder where you have write permissions. You could also use KSnapshot if you need a delay or any other advanced screen shot needs. <0> wickers > yes playing around and want to use for a smallbusiness.. <4> wickers is resizing a window incredibly slow for you with xgl? <1> sPiN, it was on my 'intel extreme graphics' laptop... full screen was the worst. <1> sPiN, but now i don't use Xgl <4> quinn, who maintains a branch of compiz said it was an xgl issue where it redraws the texture constantly while it is resizing <7> mehh] <1> Basically if your driver does not do pBuffers or FBO, but supports hardware composing, things work but window resize, and anything rendered in the off screen buffers is very slow. <1> Which for example is the case with 'radeon', and 'i810'... <0> wickers > anygood link to furthrur play around with hula ?? <4> fglrx here wickers, and this bug affect nvidia users as well... <8> ati driver pixel shader does work <0> wickers > hula-project i seen.... <8> fgl_gears use that too test card <1> prashant, maybe check novell cool solutions. <9> jfhchrist.. anyone tried to yast2 remove beagle yet?.. like 50 freekn dep warnings.. omg <1> bill-barriere, with fglrx, not radeon <8> yeah <9> fuk <0> wicker> all links going to hula-project.. <9> so much for that ''' quaint ''' idea <1> prashant, well good luck... I played with it half a year ago and moved on.. <1> I think it's funny how hula is 'led by novell' but they don't have instructions to setup hula on SUSE. Most other major distros, but not SUSE> <10> hula looked kinda lame <7> rohan_: heya <1> Guess they don't want anything messing with their groupwise sales. <11> howdy fellows <11> cheese monkeys <11> !pin vlc <6> i-nZ: /suse/i586/kernel-source-2.6.13-15.i586.rpm See http://hitme.resetbutton.de/cgi-bin/pintest.pl?searchstring=vlc&version=10.0d_i386&type=cd&dl=ftp <12> Ancient1_: hiya :) <7> i-nZ: heya <10> !packman bin/vlc <6> frb: Error looking up results <3> !packman vlc <6> benJIman|tov: VideoLAN is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio andvideo formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs,VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server tostream in unicast or multicast in I..., see http://packman-test.links2linux.org/search/vlc <11> Where is the RPM for VLC for 10.1 ? <1> The only thing i like about vlc is it's client - server streaming <1> other then that, it's all about xine <3> there is no vlc rpm afaik for 10.1 yet <11> darn <3> vlc is an evil gtk app anyway <10> the only thing I like about VLC is that it runs on MacOS and Windows <11> **** off :p <3> and far slower than mplayer and xine <12> yeap <13> SuSEhelp: s/evil gtk/gtk/ <11> i like that it plays everything without me to isntall codecs and ****s <12> gtk is evil <12> gnome is evil <12> gk2 i evil <11> right right <6> madferret thinks benJIman|tov meant: vlc is an gtk app anyway <10> s/evil gtk/slow evil gtk/ <11> then ... what can I do for mp3 and mpeg and avi playbackin 10.1 ? <10> i-nZ: xine is fine <12> i-nZ: try playing a wma without codecs ? mpplayer, xine, vlc none will play <11> vlc plays wmv <11> i think :S <12> not without codecs <3> bot, in 4w me beats benJIman repeatedly until he fixes my database
<1> GTK is not slow... <3> oops i'm not identified <11> do I need special repo for the 10.1 xine stuff? <3> i-nZ: it's on packman <10> wickers: try this: Firefox native <12> wickers: well, like gtk is not slow on gnome .. firefox usually starts faster on gnome than kde <3> wickers: it is <10> wickers: then run FIrefox in Wine <12> i-nZ: packman <11> !packman <6> i-nZ: Error looking up results <12> strange .. <12> !guru <6> Guru is a great site to find extra RPMs (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/) <10> Firefox in windows on my P4-1.6 Mobile laptop is faster than my P4-3.2GHz hyperthreaded 1G SATA desktop <12> !packman <6> rohan: Error looking up results <11> !yast_sources <10> that is, linux on the P4-3.2 <13> !whatis packman <6> packman is a site (http://packman.links2linux.org) where you can find lots of packages to suse. It can be added as yast source (ask me for packman-yast). <11> !yast-sources <6> For more information about YaST sources and how to add them, check http://susewiki.apanela.com/goodlinks:yast_sources or http://wiki.suselinuxsupport.de/wikka.php?wakka=HowToAddReposandSoftwarewithYastcli * Make sure to only refresh sources that will actually change, as depicted in this screenshot: http://spinink.net/images/screens/yast.jpg <1> .. <10> perfect thing to do while waiting for firefox to start up <1> frb, you can preload firefox. <3> wickers: that just makes booting slower <10> I don't preload Openoffice, but it starts almost as fast as Firefox now <3> wickers: and you could just use konqueror, and not have a problem <1> benJIman|tov, but you only boot once. <1> ;) <14> only kill firefox when it takes >60% of your memory. and only reboot when you need a kernel update ;) <3> wickers: and I only start firefox never :p <12> yeapp, konqi starts 10 times faster than FF <1> I like gecko over khtml <3> or you could just not use firefox <12> wickers: specific reason ? <12> gecko doesnt even p*** acid2 :P <10> the only reasons I use firefox are Firebug and the other developer extensions <12> "If it weren't for grits, there'd be a hell of a lot more Indians." --> what the **** does he mean ? :P <10> if I weren't a webdev, I don't think I'd use firefox nearly as much <3> rohan: hmm i've wondered that <3> what are grits? <12> benJIman|tov: well, i am indian <10> grits are a disgusting grain <12> gotta bash spin next he is on <1> rohan, and since when has p***ing standards compliance tests ever effected browser marketshare? ;) <14> rohan: a different kind of idian :) <12> sarnold: heh <3> !tell sPiN what does your quit message mean? <6> benJIman|tov: Okay, will tell upon next speaking. (Sent to 1 person.) <12> wickers: who is talking about market share here ? <14> rohan: the "hey christopher columbus was an idiot' kind of indian :) <10> take a kernel of corn, now take the little yellow dot that falls out, now boil those until they have the consistency of wallpaper paste <12> sarnold: lol ok <2> is there a good repository ? like i'm looking for lame devel packages and libiec61883? <3> lame is on packman <1> rohan, I'd use konquror if I could swap out khtml for webcore. <3> as is libiec <12> wickers: and use gecko ? then whats the use of konqi ? lol <10> webcore doesn't really have any advantages over khtml <10> rohan: webore isn't gecko <3> frb: well it has nicer javascript <1> rohan, no, webcore <1> not gecko <12> oh, i didnt know that :( <2> hmm can you packman as yum? or won't it work <12> i thought you meant any core <2> i have it in my setup <11> is the invalid signature for packman for 10.1 okay ? <11> yast complains ? <13> y
