<0> grothesk: can you remind me the url?
<1> vwirem, for which packagemanager?
<0> ehm... for yast2 I suppose
<2> any body Khmer?
<2>
<0> grothesk: i think i found what I need. Thanks anyway
<3> GraveDigger yeah *rock* ^^
<4> :D
<5> gravedigger: be polite or die you smuck, who the f**k cares about your idiotic life too then, no need to offend; if breathing was not automatic you would have probably died at birth
<5> smuck
<4> lol
<4> nagulator: i love it when people get angry :D :D :D :D
<5> lol i do not get angry, I am efficient at leading you to suicide
<3> *pffffffffffff*
<4> no, and the sky is full of apple pie

<4> ... as always
<4> :D
<5> ok let's launch that totem fix I did now, see if those crappy files will play
<6> hi all .. i know im stupid but i dont get it .. im using yast / network services / ntp client .. i use "pool.ntp.org" .. test succeeds .. i finish .. he sets correct (!) time .. but then nothing .. my suse is running on some lame gsx machine so i have a drift like 10 hours a day .. so i NEED ntp .. but it does not auto-update - what do i do wrong ?! (manually setting all this in yast give me time)
<5> HE-AAC ADTS VBR x264 mkv
<7> _ita: did you set it to start at boot time?
<3> _ita think of a cronjob ^^
<8> Geeko, do you think it possible you could kick josh_curly
<4> josh_curly1: what about registering your nickname? that offers you the really great benefit tho have dead connections using *your* nickname killed at command
<4> datten_: erm, bad idea
<4> datten_: regular syncronizing with timeservers should be done with the ntpserver
<8> GraveDigger, josh_curly is registered to me, however, it didnt log out properly
<8> i ***ume
<4> josh_curly1: you can "GHOST" him, then
<8> how?
<4> josh_curly1: ask nickserv how its done
<3> ./msg nickserv help
<4> josh_curly1: /msg NickServ help ghost
<8> i figured that much
<8> yay!
<9> thankyou
<3> it works! *g* *headbang*
<9> what datten_
<9> !w32codec
<10> Rumour has it w32codec is not for music its for streaming
<4> :D
<9> !w32codecs
<10> Download win32 codecs from packman, here: http://packman-test.links2linux.de/package/Win32-Codecs - note that these only work on 32bit installations
<6> sorry i had a phonecall
<6> yes i set it to "on boot time"
<6> (alternative would be "never" so ... ) :>
<9> brb
<11> _ita: is ntpd running?
<7> so when you reboot (or even change init levels) does it show the correct time?
<6> KIVPLSUSELX:~ # ps aux | grep ntpd
<6> ntp 31236 0.0 0.3 2980 2980 ? SLs May12 0:26 /usr/sbin/ntpd -p /var/lib/ntp/var/run/ntp/ntpd.pid -u ntp -i /var/lib/ntp
<6> i think its running and yes it should but its a server so reboots are not common
<11> _ita: could you paste your ntpd.conf on a paste website?
<6> ok
<7> _ita: what I did with someone else's machine that was in a similar situation (except they often booted offline so they didn't want NTP to start at boot time)
<7> was I created a script that issued an rcxntp start and then an rcxntp stop and then added it to the crontab to run every 30 minutes
<7> in your case just putting rcxntp reload into your crontab would be sufficient
<7> yeah, it's a fudge, but it works :)
<11> SpooForBrains: if you use it like this you don't even need ntpd...
<7> nine: then how would you do it?
<11> Best would be to start ntpd on ifup, so it runs as just long as there is a network connection.
<7> nine: that's a good idea
<6> paste is at http://pastebin.com/720325 - i should mention i never touched this file i always used yast
<4> datten_test: sers
<11> Just drop a script in /etc/sysconfig/network/scripts and register it in the apropriate ifcfg file
<4> datten_test <- uses fedora core!!!!!!
<12> gday oO
<12> GraveDigger *pssst* only testin :p
<7> g'day, fedora user :)
<4> datten_test: wayne?
<13> meh
<7> one of our other technical guys wants to use SMEserver cos it's all nice and fluffy and cuddly
<7> however he's never successfully managed to get it deployed without having to ask us for help ... and we're SuSE people ... :)

<14> how i save new font for konqueror ?
<14> i changed it when i open konqueror, it changes back to default font
<7> [HW]Anonymous: Settings > Save Profle: Web Browsing
<7> I think
<11> _ita: the ntpd.conf looks good. Did you notice any messages in /var/log/messages after ntpd startup? I'd add an iburst to the server pool.ntp.org line, set the clock manually, so the difference is not too much (ntpd refuses to step more than 1 hour), start ntpd and do a ntpq -p
<14> :O.... will try
<14> meh lmao
<15> _ita: looks fine
<6> thank you .. but what does "add an iburst to the server" mean ?!
<11> _ita: if you didn't know: ntpq -p shows you which servers ntpd is connected to, the connection state and the offset
<14> i didnt look hard enough, i found "Save as default" command haha XD
<11> _ita: server pool.ntp.org iburst
<7> YOU should have an option for Skip Patch, not just one big Abort option
<11> which means "initial burst" so ntpd starts using a higher update frequence and after initial synchronization reduces the package rate
<11> Oh and take a look at /var/log/ntp. This and ntpq -p should tell you what's wrong or right
<15> probably bad servers
<15> pool.ntp.org is a mess
<14> !nvidia
<10> If you are not using YOU - Yast Online Update to setup your card, read carefully: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html
<14> !kde
<10> http://susewiki.apanela.com/tutorials:updatekde
<16> why doesn't suse use propriaty drivers ??
<14> how i update kde to 3.5.2 with suse 10.1 thru repository ???
<16> doesn't that defeat the whole newbie thing?
<11> lss: they are not allowed to distribute the proprietary drivers
<15> lss: the whole newbie thing is worth nothing without the kernel/GPL
<16> nine, Mepis is allowed. so is ubuntu
<15> they are not. they infringe the GPL license
<11> See http://lwn.net/Articles/183639/ for what could happen
<17> lss: Where do you live?
<16> uk
<16> why?
<17> lss: Great, write to your PM and tell him to change the software IP patent system.
<17> lss: When they do, Novell and other companies will include binary drivers.
<17> lss: Until then, "hands are tied".
<14> dude, i forgot how to install nvidia thru YOU or something like that again :S
<17> Or better yet, we'll get real Open Source drivers.
<7> daPhoenix: we have enough trouble making sure our PM doesn't start another war and scrap all the human rights legislation :(
<16> daPhoenix, is this recent this thing?
<7> hey, lss, does Windows include drivers for NVidia and ATI cards?
<16> yes infact.. i bought this laptop and it was installed
<7> lss: your OEM put those on. Not Microsoft
<17> lss: That's because the provider put the drivers in there - not because MS did.
<7> they're not included as part of a Windows installation
<7> the OEM has paid licensing fees to the various hardware companies to include the drivers
<7> do you want to pay licensing fees for SuSE?
<16> SpooForBrains, So, will there be a paid version of suse which include propriaty drivers?
<16> I'd buy suse if it had drivers like that already in there
<15> you guys are getting it all wrong
<15> it has nothing to do with patents or license fees
<15> binary only drivers are infringing the kernels license
<15> kernel developers obviously dont want that
<15> novell does respect that and wont **** binary only drivers
<15> ship
<17> Here's one case where I'd want Novell not to give a **** what the kernel developers want :P
<7> henne: but if they included the binary drivers on the installation media that wouldn't violate that, would it?
<15> SpooForBrains: sure. bundled work
<15> daPhoenix: well good luck without linux...
<17> henne: How about an FTP/HTTP repository - that would not be bundled work.
<7> how is that different to having a YOU patch to install them?
<15> daPhoenix: novell will not aid you in infringing the license of the kernel. not in any way
<18> libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.0.2/../../../libstdc++.la' <-- Getting this building amaroK-svn (SUSE 10.1). It's installed. The problem seems to be in the path. "4.0.2" doesn't exist, 4.1.0 does. Any ideas on where to change this?
<7> HairMetalAddict: make a simlink?
<18> Well, I thought of that too. ;-) But I was figuring there's some wrong setting somewhere that's making it look at a non-existent gcc 4.0.2 dir instead of 4.1.0
<19> Hi, in Suse 9.3 ssh-agent got automatically started on each login. With Suse 10.1 this seems to be disabled. Is there an option to reenable ssh-agent again? Or do I have to do it manually?
<7> ln -s /usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.1.0 /usr/lib/gcc/1586-suse-linux/4.0.2 ?
<20> hi
<21> hi le paper
<16> i think the solution would be, if suse included a central driver base, where they cannot control the content over. For example, it would be like synaptic in debian where they have no control over what repositories people put in them instead.
<17> henne: I find the stance a little.. retarded. No offense towards SuSE but you guys are making the end user suffer for it.
<15> daPhoenix: we guys dont do anything except respecting the guys that make it even possible that there are end-users dude...
<18> No. Nvidia and ATI and so on are making the end user suffer for it.
<7> henne: have Novell stopped offering a YOU patch to install proprietary drivers?
<15> SpooForBrains: yes
