<frb-work> if older hardware requires patches, and said patches are not actively maintained by the community, it is perfectly sane to "drop" support for them

<mrcranky> if the ID is the same as another device on the scsi chain then the drive wouldn't show up.

<mrcranky> well, it's possible you have the scsi ID of the drive set to the same ID as the controller card, which is usually 7
