<lAN^pART1> but the ones from ati are better
<mikedep333> if your cpu is 32-bit: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ati-driver-installer-8.24.8-x86.run
<apokryphos> sappy: an awful lot 8)
<lAN^pART1> i ask that drivers on ATI site
<mikedep333> if your cpu is 64-bit: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/64bit/ati-driver-installer-8.24.8-x86_64.run
<sappy> hehe
<lAN^pART1> :)
<lAN^pART1> thks
<mikedep333> np
<sappy> any of those which i can monitor syslog ?
<sappy> like who is trying to hack in
<Narfindoodle> anyone?
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: sec
<Narfindoodle> ok
<Grommet> insight's dhcp isn't working but if I steal an IP and gateway and stuff from someone else's dhcp offer, am I doing something illegal? It seems to be working.
<Ancient1_> I had this problem with Intellimouse Explorer. so I can give u links that solve that. but generally its about mapping the proper button's ZAxis and than doing Xmodmap OR creating autorun file that does that.
<Grommet> I wonder why it works for me when my mac address doesn't match the offer?
<Narfindoodle> yeah mine is a trackball explorer and its making a wierd button the right click
<Narfindoodle> so those links would be great
<Ancient1_> did u get the pvt chat ?
<Narfindoodle> no
<Meltir> hi ppl. im in a bit of a pickle: when doing 'yast2 -i ipw-firmware' i get a heap of errors (first ones about zypp::ZYppFactoryException). ideas anyone ? im pretty new to suse (it just handles hw better then debian, and the kernel in 10.1 can handle the laptops eth0 better)
<mikedep333> sappy:yast2 has a built in viewer for syslog, but just a basic one
<Ancient1_> hmm . new to kopete.
<Narfindoodle> im new to linux all together so i understand
<mikedep333> I don't know of any program that can monitor syslog or any other log for intrusion attempts.
<cenuij> mmm more coffee
<suselinuxp> moin all
<Ancient1_> me too ..
<mikedep333> but yast2's package manager lets you search through the packages very easily
<mikedep333> all 10 gigs or so that are available for each architecture, on the main release repository
<Narfindoodle> i asked this question in the ##linux channel and got told to **** off
<daPhoenix> Haha :D
<Meltir> anyone know whats the zypp::ZYppFactoryException error related to ?
<daPhoenix> Narfindoodle: That sounds pretty normal :-)
<Narfindoodle> kinda strange from the help channel lol
<mikedep333> here's a mirror for the main repository for suse 10.1 (coming out technically today) http://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/
<Narfindoodle> what is wrong with the people in there lol
<mikedep333> with 10 gigs, if there exists such a program for linux to do that in general, suse will probably have it.
<Ancient1_> KDE : xorg.conf : Section "InputDevice" ,Driver "mouse", Identifier "Mouse[1]" , Option "Buttons" "7",Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice",Option "Name" "ExplorerPS/2 on USB",Option "Protocol" "Auto" (or try USB ),Option "Vendor" "USB-Mouse",Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
<fsu> I couldn't get makeSUSEdvd working. should it even work with 10.1?
<Ancient1_> xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5",
<Ancient1_> or create textfile in home dir i.e /home/ancient1 with the name .Xmodmap and add the line : pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5
<mikedep333> narfindoodle: Suse's graphical session config tools, SaX2, has options for configuring mouse buttons like that.
<Narfindoodle> really?
<Narfindoodle> even the 2 that dont respond?
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: thats summerizing lots of pages and hours
<mikedep333> well, at least for configuring it in general
<Narfindoodle> thank you ancient
<mikedep333> I myself use a MS intellimouse explorer, 4 buttons and a scroll wheel
<mikedep333> when I setup 10.1, I will see how to make my last two buttons work
<mikedep333> my steps may help you also
<mikedep333> I did have trouble in the past
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: yes. you MAP the buttons correctly . than Xmodmap maually or autorun a KDE file
<Narfindoodle> 1,2,3,6,7 work
<Narfindoodle> it ignores 4 and 5
<mikedep333> sounds like mine (the wheel counts as 3)
<mikedep333> but im surprised 6 and 7 work
<Narfindoodle> yeah its odd
<Ancient1_> mapping is about their order
<mikedep333> narfindoodle: what version of suse are you running?
<Narfindoodle> 10.0
<Narfindoodle> open suse
<mikedep333> ok
<Narfindoodle> the free one
<mikedep333> well, if you want, I can tell you if my buttons four and five work in 10.1 within 24 hours
<Ancient1_> if u copied what i gave u u'll see that the sequence isn't linera. 45 switch with 67
<mikedep333> just give me your email or stay in this channel
<Narfindoodle> ok
<Narfindoodle> is 10.1 out?
<mikedep333> half released
<mikedep333> some mirrors have it, other's don't
<pingvin> half ?
<pingvin> hehe
<pingvin> i just trying Xgl on kde 10.1 need kernel-source cd 5 20 min and test ! ;)
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: there are quite a few pages that deal with my problem (i'm sure you'll find for u'rs) . here is a few (they describe what i told u in short.
<Ancient1_> http://www.gloegl.de/30.html
<Ancient1_> http://ftp.x.org/pub/X11R7.0/doc/html/mouse6.html#28
<Narfindoodle> thanks alot man
<Ancient1_> http://home.exetel.com.au/cyberia/archives/60
<Ancient1_> you're welcome
<adrianS> me ? ;)
<Ancient1_> GL , as I have a hard time setting up suse
<Ancient1_> U2
<Ancient1_> :)
<Dynalon> is it possible to dl 10.1 at the moment?
<Ancient1_> well , you can log to the ftp lobby.. thats a start , ain't it :D
<Dynalon> Ancient1_: didnt find a working mirror from the mirror page
<Ancient1_> hmm . it isn't out yet afaik.
<benJIman|tov> http://bong.uwcs.co.uk/mirror/suse/10.1/
<pingvin> ftp://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/iso
<mikedep333> every single suse package is avialable on certain mirrors, it is only the easy downloadable dvd with FOSS and non-FOSS software that isn't available
<mikedep333> the CDs with everything and the big inst-source repository are available
<Dynalon> mikedep333: there will be a dvd??
<mikedep333> *the CDs with everything on the DVD
<mikedep333> yes
<mikedep333> it will be on a ftp.suse.com mirror
<Dynalon> mikedep333: today?
<Narfindoodle> xev doesnt even register that i am pressing the buttons when i do
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: that is a problem .
<Narfindoodle> ****ty
<mikedep333> Dynalon:Yes
<mikedep333> if you really are anxious, you can use makesusedvd on an existing linux box
<mikedep333> with the CDs
<mikedep333> to make a dvd
<mikedep333> *with the CD iso's
<mikedep333> http://en.opensuse.org/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: there is also the issue of the device definition , in Protocol and vendor .
<mikedep333> I really should have checked out the mouse buttons 4+5 bug during the beta phase
<Narfindoodle> im sorry but i dont know what that is ancient
<mikedep333> Suse was very good at fixing minor bugs that I reported.
<fsu> there is problem with makeSUSEdvd and 10.1. boot loader is different directory on 10.1 than 10.0. in 10.0 it was in boot/loader, but on 10.1 it is in boot/x86_64/loader. I don't know about i386-cd's. There was also some problems with mkisofs-parameters. -L and -P does something else on newer mkisofs.
<Ancient1_> there is a way to see what boot proccess discovered .
<Ancient1_> in Xorg.conf
<Narfindoodle> ok
<Narfindoodle> how do i do it?
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: i mean these ption i just gave
<Narfindoodle> ah
<Dynalon> hm whats about the nonfree cd ? cant see it on switch mirror
<benJIman|tov> mikedep333: what bug is that?
<mikedep333> in previous versions of suse at least, mouse buttons 4 and 5 not being usable
<Ancient1_> i told u u have to edit xorg.conf . red few pages i sent you for better explanation.
<mikedep333> at least on my MS intellimouse explorer and narfindoodle's trackball
<Narfindoodle> ok
<mikedep333> I used to run a script after in the X session to make them work, but I think I lost that.
<Ancient1_> but there is a command to see what mouse boot proccess discovered, or look at Yast hardware info
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: i have the intelli explorer and solved it . sec
<mikedep333> great
<mikedep333> mine is a 3.0 over USB btw
<Hendikins> ThePizzaKing: I'm surprised you never noticed me being around here :P
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: exactly like me
<Ancient1_> create textfile in home dir i.e /home/ancient1 with the name .Xmodmap
<Ancient1_> and add the line : pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5
<ThePizzaKing> Hendikins: I just didn't realise you were in all these places, I just knew there was a guy called Hendikins somewhere
<Ancient1_> asuming u set xorg.conf properly
<Hendikins> ThePizzaKing: Check my wikipedia user page for a list of my best known haunts (this isn't it)
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: you should run xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" before putting that into an autorun
<Ancient1_> into THE autorun
<[miles]> morning
<mikedep333> the autorun?
<mikedep333> I wish I was more familiar with setting stuff to automatically run in KDE or Gnome, but I think I found out how to do it in the latter.
<Ancient1_> Narfindoodle: the command to see boot msg is DMESG
<benJIman|tov> go -> autostart in konqueror
<mikedep333> oh, thanks
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: i told u to create a file named .xmodmap = autorun
<mikedep333> ok, thanks
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: its the same as the command xmodmap , but the file will run auto ..
<Narfindoodle> brb guys gonna restart X
<Ancient1_> mikedep333: just that u want to see if it works properly before commiting it to file
