<fluxdude> and visudo: "domain\ admins ALL=(ALL) ALL", then only the first user on the line of getent can sudo su? <Solaris444> Spoo... do you know how long it will take after release for a boxed version of SuSE 10.1 to arrive? <woodefec> mischko : you can run yast <woodefec> and there it is <woodefec> Yst Online Update <woodefec> that is YOU, its one of the modules <woodefec> its fully interactive in textmode <mischko> woodefec, I'll look into it. It's been about a year since I touched the box in an admin capacity and I use Debian most of the time so I'm real rusty on yast. <SpooForBrains> Solaris444: I'm afraid I have no idea! I always ended up marching down to MicroAnvika to get the box sets, usually late <woodefec> mischko - you interact with some keys like tab etcetera - the text yast is quite useful, especially for YOU, which you need to run <SpooForBrains> mischko: ***uming you have SSH access to the box, and you have another machine on the same network running X, you can use X forwarding to run full YaST <SpooForBrains> user@flibbly:~>ssh user@server -X <SpooForBrains> you can run any X application that way. YaST being just one <SpooForBrains> you do need to install the YaST QT package, though <mischko> SpooForBrains, I dont' have X available on that network. I'll use ssh. <SpooForBrains> OK. Well, curses YaST is nearly as good <mischko> I can select only ssh (and dependencies) for update right? I don't really want to touch anything else. <mischko> The box will be replaced in the near future and I don't want to create any trouble for myself on it in the meantime as I don't have time to deal with problems. <SpooForBrains> mischko: yes, you can do that <mischko> k <sPiN> an aol user.. the poor bastard <Grommet> my sister uses aol <SpooForBrains> If there was no AOL, I wouldn't appreciate how great my cable internet connection is <Grommet> :) <SpooForBrains> like if there was no evil in the world, we'd never appreciate things like fluffy puppies ... and Linux ... <SpooForBrains> and Mars drink ... and Serenity ... and Mandalas ... and home knitted scarves ... <bill-barriere> long life aol ****er ! <fluxdude> Arrrrggg. I'm going to kill suse!!!! Why is there version of winbind so much harder to get working than gentoo's! <aka_druid_> *** newbie detected *** <fluxdude> i now have some bug where only the first user in the domain admins group can sudo via the %domain\ admins ALL=(ALL) ALL line in sudoers <SpooForBrains> Do any of you guys have the Capital One ID theft commerical running in your countries? <Grommet> I'm glad my sister has aol, I don't have to clean spyware and viruses when I visit :) <SpooForBrains> Grommet: because AOL is so **** the effect of the spyware and viruses is negligable? <fluxdude> when I do getent group and see Domain Admins:blah:testuser,Administrator <fluxdude> only the testuser can sudo and I get admininstrator not in sudoers file <Grommet> no it comes with virus scan and anti spyware now and it has been working pretty good <fluxdude> when I remove the testuser in AD, administrator is the only member and can sudo fine <Grommet> aww, I just got a badwindow error :( <SpooForBrains> Bad window. Stole a biscuit <Grommet> just one so far, much better than before <i_is_cat> i'm thinkin about adding a wireless card to my opensuse box is there any list of supported cards i can look at before i make a purchase? <aka_druid_> http://opensuse.org/HCL <i_is_cat> hmm <SpooForBrains> prism54 cards rock in my experience <i_is_cat> well i work for futureshop and we pretty much have only dlink, linksys, usrobotics or some crap and trendnet in store <i_is_cat> so i'm wondering if its worth it to buy one there at a discount or go for something better <i_is_cat> unless one of them works well <i_is_cat> then thats cool <SpooForBrains> chipsets vary so wildly between cards that you have to get specific model numbers and look em up <i_is_cat> kinda weird how ms usb wireless card works "out of the box" on that hcl <sPiN> people have HELL with usb wifi <sPiN> its a stupid product to begin with <i_is_cat> lol i know i deal with a lot of it at work <sPiN> get a pcmcia if its a laptop, or a pci if its a desktop... <fluxdude> sPiN: i got it working via ndiswrapper without too much trouble <i_is_cat> ya i was thinkin pci <sPiN> the only reason people by them is because the dont have to open their case <fluxdude> but then that was debian, on suse I'd probably have to spent 3 times as long... <i_is_cat> lol dont forget small and cute <i_is_cat> one customer the other day was like oh so i can just stick it in the back and forget about it? how convenient <i_is_cat> its like sure buddy lets see you set it up :/ <SpooForBrains> the thing with SuSE is that when the YaST install scripts and stuff, it's a beautiful thing to behold. And when they don't, it <SpooForBrains> s a bastard <i_is_cat> i always have to deal with the complete morons <i_is_cat> well i installed ogle yesterday with YaST and it worked soooooooooo nicely <i_is_cat> i was much impressed <aka_druid_> fluxdude: do you need help installing debian? Its very easy and straight forward, and then you wouldnt have to bug us with that, but bug #debian <i_is_cat> which is why i want a wireless card even more now <sPiN> yeah installing them is by far the easy part <aka_druid_> i_is_cat: isnt that d-link g122 supported? <aka_druid_> or 232, cant remember <satsu> I just used a knoppix live disc and parted to move my swap to the very end of the drive, hoping to expand my suse reiser partition (/dev/hda2). It seems that parted does not resize reiser, so my question is, what should i use to resize the reiser partition? <aka_druid_> just plug in usb and its good to go <sPiN> you just slide it in, but configuring it is another story <aka_druid_> satsu: resize_reiserfs or sysresccd.org <i_is_cat> the g122 is usb isn't it? <satsu> aka-rgr that thx :) <i_is_cat> my usb keys work really well with this box but its 1.1 and that ****s <i_is_cat> that netgear wg311tgr looks promising <ramz> I know this system is way behind the times, and I will at some point in the very near future upgrade it, but does anyone know if pam modules exist for suse-9.1 that support functions like common_auth common_session, etc.? <MrKane> Hi <ramz> hi back <MrKane> I have a small question I hope someone can help me with. I did a System Upgrade from 9.3 to 10.0 and is ok except for Online Update. Online update still believes it is 9.3? Where can I change that? All sources are 10.0? <benJIman|tov> you have to edit the product id, bill-barriere had a howto <benJIman|tov> SuSEhelp: seen bill-barriere <SuSEhelp> benJIman|tov: Sorry, no such luck! I don't remember seeing bill-barriere! <MrKane> Should not that be done by Yast during the upgrade? <benJIman|tov> if you boot off cd and upgrade it is <MrKane> This is on an old laptop , it's CD drive is dead :-( <benJIman|tov> system upgrade isn't a good way of updating, because there are inherant problems with upgrading while system is running <benJIman|tov> can't remember bill's link, and don't have X on here atm, maybe someone can dig it out of their logs for you <MrKane> Yea, I hva found one. You must not have mounted home directories while doing it. <MrKane> I'm googling for it..... <satsu> when i run resize_reiserfs -s +15GB /dev/hda2 i get an error that says "/dev/hda2 is of 24416784 blocks size....You are trying to expand reiserfs up to 28348955 blocks size. you probably forgot to expand your partition size." How do i expand the partition to prepare for expanding the reiserfs? <ramz> I know this system is way behind the times, and I will at some point in the very near future upgrade it, but does anyone know if pam modules exist for suse-9.1 that support functions like common_auth common_session, etc.? <netmask> satsu: use parted to expand the partition, then expand the filesystem <ramz> The resize_reiserfs program does not manipulate the size of the device. If you wish to <ramz> enlarge a filesystem, you must make sure you expand the underlying device first. This can <ramz> be done using cfdisk(8) for partitions, by deleting the partition and recreating it with a <ramz> larger size (***uming there is free space after the partition in question). Make sure you <ramz> re-create it with the same starting disk cylinder as before! Otherwise, the resize opera <ramz> tion will certainly not work, and you may lose your entire filesystem. <ramz> (from man resize_reiserfs) <ramz> (sorry about the linewraps) <satsu> netmask - parted&qtparted don't support reiserfs when i try to resize it <benJIman|tov> resize it all with yast <benJIman|tov> yast -> system -> partitioner, or boot off the cd and use the partitioner there <benJIman|tov> it will do both for you <netmask> satsu: I thought it did... at least I read it did last time I use <satsu> benji-yast will do this for me? ok i boot to the rescue disc (from my suse 10.0 install dvd??) <netmask> benJIman|tov: does it do everything? <benJIman|tov> SuSEhelp: fixboot <SuSEhelp> boot the install CD, select installation, when you see this screen: http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=464&slide=5, select .Other. then click .repair installed system., then choose either automatic or expert tools and use the boot loader module to re-install grub <benJIman|tov> ok do what it says there, but expert tools -> partitioner <benJIman|tov> then you can resize partitions and filesystems <satsu> ok wow...thx benji ill gigve it a try <benJIman|tov> don't forget to backup first <benJIman|tov> resizing a filesystem is obviously somewhat risky <satsu> yah, guess i'd better..... <ramz> anyone have any ideas about my question about pam updates for suse 9.1? <htodd> would this be where I ask about sles10 libraries? I'm looking for a libGLU.a and can't find it. <ramz> htodd: hitme.resetbutton.de <ramz> (***uming it's a library that's packaged with the OS out of the box) <htodd> ramz: thansk <ramz> np <htodd> thanks, even <brainiac_ghost> hi <brainiac_ghost> 32 or 64 bit <brainiac_ghost> ? <ramz> cause... one of these days, someone is going to tell me where to get updated pam for suse-9.1 <ramz> brainiac_ghost: uhhh... what? <brainiac_ghost> ramz, 32 bit suse or 64 bit suse <ramz> brainiac_ghost: do you have a 32 bit or the 64 bit cpu? <brainiac_ghost> i have a opteron (supports both :P ) <ramz> brainiac_ghost: then I'd suggest 64-bit <ramz> < shrug > <brainiac_ghost> ramz, why, speed <brainiac_ghost> ramz, 64 is less supported <ramz> brainiac_ghost: might check to be sure that the 64-bit arch is supported that the opteron uses, though... <brainiac_ghost> ramz, same one that an athlon64 uses <brainiac_ghost> :D <ramz> brainiac_ghost: not really... almost every app I've seen that's still maintained has 64-bit or 32-bit+64-bit compatible versions... <brainiac_ghost> ramz, flash <ramz> brainiac_ghost: okay... no idea, personally.. I'm still in a 32-bit universe... <brainiac_ghost> :D <benJIman|tov> brainiac_ghost: you can run 32bit apps on 64bit system <P-Luc_Auclair> hey, I have a /music/ directory that is shared by all users on my network, users all put stuff in there. Is there a way to have all the folders created in /music/ to be RW to users group? <brainiac_ghost> benJIman|tov, ,ultilib <brainiac_ghost> :D
