<kinek> i see:)
<kinek> i hope this i not going to be much complicated.
<kinek> xen:"They have undergone very limited testing, are not supported in any way"
<kinek> what do you think of other simmilar products like vmware?
<pjv> yes
<kinek> what means "yes"?:)
<pjv> kinek: xen is good, vmware is good too, all depends which one works for you try them both
<kinek> ok
<Fred21> Hello
<Fred21> i see http://ftp.belnet.be/packages/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1-OSS-beta3/iso/
<Fred21> there is a mini.iso, what does it mean?
<ohgood> Fred21: net install maybe ?
<iKernel> I got tired of stupid unknown signituare errors with apt, so I'm getting source rpms XD
<iKernel> apt-get -b source audacity
<iKernel> and it didn't work.
<ohgood> why not just use yast ?
<iKernel> cuz i need newer pacakges than what that provides.
<buk> ohgood!
<buk> iKernel: installing the key-rpm might be a better idea
<ohgood> bukster!
<darkworm> anyone know if there is a way to change MAX ptys in a 2.4 kernel
<darkworm> I can't find it anywhere
<iKernel> buk: can't find
<iKernel> buk: installed a bunch of rpmkeys, still not working
<FaBBio> hi all
<iKernel> i wish i could just get it to ignore the fact that it doesn't know the key
<darkworm> iKernel, is this to install an RPM ?
<raddy> anybody know about good cron frontends?
<iKernel> darkworm: yesh
<FaBBio> i've a problem with suse 10.0 and hp, i've a scanner on a all-in-one hp. I ran ptal-init setup that found and configured the scanner, but xsane don't see the scanner. how can i fix?
<darkworm> iKernel, if it is not installing an RPM because it cannot find the signature, check the man rpm page, I remember there being something like --ignore-key that might help
<lslarry> ohhh
<lslarry> ERROR(You:RPM has invalid signature.) - wtf?
<darkworm> alternatively, although I wouldn't recommend it, use: rpm -ivh --force rpmname.rpm
<darkworm> could just be corrupt
<darkworm> try this on the rpm: rpm -qlp rpmname.rpm
<iKernel> darkworm: http://pastebin.com/546508
<darkworm> if you are using apt, check out what James is saying about signatures: http://www.usr-local-bin.org/rpms/apt.php
<iKernel> ok
<iKernel> hmm :)
<iKernel> it just installed a bunch of rpmkeys stuff
<iKernel> and doing other stuffs now
<iKernel> maybe it will work once it's fin?
<Hairulfr> Hey all
<Hairulfr> I want to add this command "xset -dpms" to my boot, so that it gets loaded every time I boot, but, I don't know how. Where should I add it, or should I do a script?
<iKernel> init.d
<iKernel> hmm actually
<iKernel> dunno
<Hairulfr> Hmm
<iKernel> get baseball bat in a minute..
<iKernel> apt is misbehaving
<comsa> never
<iKernel> there
<Hairulfr> You'll probably regret it
<iKernel> it work now
<Richlv> susehelp, sources
<raddy> iKernel : i want to put a command that must be started at boot, it must have network access, do you know any place?
<iKernel> must have spelt audacity wrong
<iKernel> raddy: don't look at me.
<Richlv> susehelp, installation sources
<Hairulfr> raddy: hehe, got the same problem :)
<iKernel> it is somthing to do with init.d folder, you put the script in there then you run some program... on debian it was update-rc.d, but suse... no idea
<Richlv> Hairulfr, does it need x running ?
<pjv> iKernel: chkconfig -add script
<Hairulfr> Richlv: Yeah, i think - or, no, i doesnt, it's text based, but it configures x
<Hairulfr> it's xset
<raddy> pjv : oh,
<iKernel> there ya go guys
<Hairulfr> pjv: chkconfig?
<raddy> pjv : i need to create script for ntpdate too
<iKernel> chuck your script in init.d fodler and run chkconfig -add <script name here>
<pjv> I'll make the script. how much? I have paypal :P
<Hairulfr> So, would it be enough to put just "xset -dpms"? in there, havent made a scrip for 10 years...
<Hairulfr> pjv: Prayers for your greedy sould :)
<pjv> Hairulfr: crontab not good enough for it?
<Hairulfr> *soul
<Richlv> pjv, if chkconfig is used, can it be made to start after x themselves ?
<pjv> hehe
<Hairulfr> pjv: Crontab?
<Richlv> why crontab is it must be run only upon boot ?
<Richlv> if
<iKernel> ok
<pjv> Richlv: all depends on the script settings
<iKernel> i install limewire witrh -nodeps option
<iKernel> it work fine
<pjv> if it is set on init 3 or init 5
<iKernel> but rpm think it broken
<Hairulfr> Screw it, I'll just type the command in each time
<pjv> night guys i gotta get some sleep
<pjv> Hairulfr: set it on your bashrc
<Hairulfr> pjv: Yeah, bashrc, but wheeere?
<Hairulfr> (is BASHRC)
<pjv> if you need it after x set it with sleep()
<pjv> Hairulfr: .bashrc
<Hairulfr> Ill try and find it
<pjv> Hairulfr: cd ; vi .bashrc
<pjv> night
<iKernel> i like audacity
<iKernel> nice little program
<Hairulfr> oh, btw, how do i make the login screen and KDE prompt for p***word when asked to restart? I had it before, but now i forgot how tro do it
<Hairulfr> *to
<iKernel> no idea
<Wuffi600> hi.
<iKernel> hmm?
<iKernel> hi
<iKernel> k bed time
<iKernel> way past
<iKernel> night
<tyler_> can vmware be used on pc with only 233mhz and 64mb ram?
<Wuffi600> could you help me solve a special problem: /dev/syslv/sambalv has run 100% full. if i do a "ls /sambalv_mountpoint/" the shell hangs. in yast->lvm no vg is shown. Could you help me extend the lv.
<Richlv> wuffi, which lvm ?
<Richlv> anyway, maybe this helps : http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/
<Dale> whats the easiest way to take screenshots in suse
<Dale> print scrn button doesnt seem to work
<Richlv> particulary http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/extendlv.html
<Richlv> dale, ksnapshot if you are using kde
<Richlv> additionally, ctrl+prntscren and shift+prntscreen will take screenshots of current window & whole desktop
<Dale> cheers
<Richlv> ksnapshot is pretty functional, i use it myself :)
<minciNashu> HELP: can linux mess up my ntfs drive ?
<Richlv> of course =)
<minciNashu> this is how fstab looks like: /dev/hda1 /media/c ntfs nls=utf8,umask=0222 0 0
<Richlv> though mounting it read only should not mess anything
<Richlv> and that's the default, i think
<minciNashu> how can i make sure its read only
<Richlv> mount it ;)
<minciNashu> i mean in fstab
<Richlv> or, to be completely sure, add "ro"
<Richlv> like, nls=utf8,umask=0222,ro
<minciNashu> ok
<minciNashu> oh, and when it starts up it says something like ntf, rw, ...
<minciNashu> wht does that rw mean ?
<Richlv> what starts and says where ?
<Richlv> in boot messages ?
<minciNashu> when suse start up
<Richlv> what does "mount" say ?
<Richlv> for ntfs partition
<minciNashu> says ntfs rw nls=utf8,umask=0222 0 0
<minciNashu> or something like that
<minciNashu> im sure it says rw
<minciNashu> does it mean read- write ?
<minciNashu> or rewrite
<minciNashu> the thing is that i know linux cant write ntfs (not well, at least)
<minciNashu> and i just found a lot of errors on the c drive
<minciNashu> the ntfs drive
<minciNashu> missing files
<minciNashu> corrupted dlls
<minciNashu> im worried cause i wanna use suse linux but i also have important stuff under windows
<netbix> exit
<Wuffi600> how can i force a sles8-box to reboot if "reboot", "shutdown -r .." fails?
<Wuffi600> 1
