Hello? <nXOR> show me the config file <nXOR> rafb.net/paste <Solaris444> Do you want to know or not Sakuya? <Solaris444> rafb.net/paste? <nXOR> yeah .... <Sakuya> Thanks lol <Sakuya> i figured out <nXOR> how are u mounting this directory ? <nXOR> manually via cli or via some graphical UI <Solaris444> in konq. <Solaris444> its not for me, <Solaris444> its for a customer. <nXOR> did u share this directory with guest access ? <nXOR> or does it have to have authentication of some sort ? <Solaris444> they are your standard family of "well, if you say this is better, we'll trust you, but we don't know much about pcs" <Solaris444> its just a regular folder in their home dir. <nXOR> so theres no need for authentication fo any kind ? <Solaris444> not especially. <nXOR> let me show u an example config file <Solaris444> they are behind a firewall. <Solaris444> ah ok, so have to edit config files then? <nXOR> ull work from there, but itll require u to dig into config files <Solaris444> I can if thats what needs doing. <nXOR> because i dont like GUI for setting up services <Solaris444> ok. <Solaris444> np. <Solaris444> they just need to be able to use it obviously. no config files or command line for them. <nXOR> yeah theyll be able to use it <nXOR> but ull set it up from cli <Solaris444> ok thats fine. <nXOR> http://rafb.net/paste/results/qBECcp23.html <nXOR> now only fill in the blanks <nXOR> backup ur old smb.conf file and paste this into the smb.conf <nXOR> also to avoid any other possibe complication <nXOR> s* <nXOR> set permissions on shared folders like this <iKernel> If I get libpng: read error whilest running noteedit or some other app, could this be an error message from the png library saying that some file does not exsit? Or could this be noteedit saying that it can't find libpng? From an strace of noteedit, it seems that the first idea is probably correct... <nXOR> chown -R nobody:nobody /home/whoever/shared_folder <nXOR> chmod -R 777 /home/whoever/shared_folder
