<0> littlesniper, pretty much <1> djcronos: As with any repair, if you can backup the files first - it's most definitely adviceable. <2> wisecook: w8 im checking <0> littlesniper, thanks i appreciate it <3> daPhoenix - understood. I don't think that is what I want, and I think I know what I need to d, I just don';t know how to do it <3> When I upgraded my system with the YaST2 GUI, it asked me to specify where to download the items, I may have specified the wrong location <3> Or, better yet, can't I just symlink the library files? <1> djcronos: Can't really say - I've never used SLES myself. <4> hohoho <3> SLES looks identical to SuSE 9 <5> benJIman: I cant seem to get those repos into YaST installation sources for some reason <4> looks like dapper drake shipped with an svn CUPS that doesnt really work well ;) <4> thats an ooops! <6> kkathman: add the directory containing repodata directory <5> benJIman: i.e http://ftp.gwdg.org/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.0/ <7> is it possible to use suse rpm packages for opensuse?
<8> !notopensuse <9> "openSUSE" is the name of the community project (wiki, mailing-lists, IRC room, etc...) - the distribution itself is called "SUSE Linux" <2> wisecook: you didn't tell me on what is connected ur wan <1> It should really be Mono-SuSE GNU/Linux omgwtf. :p <5> benJIman: hmmm I added that /repodata/ on the end...still getting no joy <10> hello <2> wisecook: what port <11> daPhoenix: you forgot the yastbbq <6> kkathman: no don't put the repodata <1> frb-work: Apologies for that! ;) <6> kkathman: it will complain there's no yast metadata but should add it as a yum source <12> benJIman: you use two monitors right? <0> littlesniper, iive always had it automatically connect <10> when i was installing opensuse linux...during the network test...it was testing if it could connect to the internet but it said it failed and the log said something about dhcp already running or something...what does this mean? <5> benJIman: Im in the YaST installation sources screen <6> [mdevilz]: I do <12> benJIman: do you play games as well? <6> I do <12> like ut2k4? doom3? <6> indeed <12> how do you get them to play on one screen? <5> benJIman: and Im still on 10.0 btw <12> and not like try to take up both ... <12> heya [daemon]_ <6> [mdevilz]: either you can define metamodes to disable the second monitor, for the res at which you play games, or you can run them in windowed but no border mode <12> oh <12> will try that <10> anyone? <12> !notopensuse <9> "openSUSE" is the name of the community project (wiki, mailing-lists, IRC room, etc...) - the distribution itself is called "SUSE Linux" <13> bleh... the install has been 'evaluating package selection' for the past _hour_ <12> i just installed 10.1 in a matter of probably 90 mins <13> wait... it finally stoped... with the error message 'no proposal' <12> with over 3gb of packages <14> [mdevilz]: whats up? <12> but i am using the dvd hehe :) <12> the_dude: nothing really ... highschool commencemnt tonight <15> goddamn, doing large upgrades reminds me exactly why I looove smart <12> where is all the kontact ... calendar ... kmail stuff stored? <15> stuff? config files you mean? <2> wisecook: ?? are you still here ? <16> ahm .. anyone here familiar with ntop :D <5> apokryphos: smart? <12> apokryphos: data ... config <15> kkathman: oh yeah; /msg susehelp smart <5> apokryphos: must be in 10.1 :) <15> [mdevilz]: all in ~/.kde/share/config and ~/.kde/share/apps/ <2> wisecook: ??? you sleep ? <17> !smart <9> smart is a great package management frontend that supports many repository formats - more info on http://smartpm.org - The Guru build comes preloaded with Inst-Source, Non-OSS, Packman, Guru, and KDE supp repositories. Here is a spoon-fed howto: http://spinink.net/2006/05/20/installing-smart-package-manager/ <12> thanks apokryphos <15> [mdevilz]: same as it is for all kde apps <18> Hey buds I've got a CRAZY scenario for some people who really like Suse. Anyone ever messed with Vmware? Well, here's my situation. I've been trying to get a single installation of suse up and running on both vmware AND the physical machine simultaneously. I installed it on a physical partition, and everything went fine. It booted to the desktop within vmware. I then installed grub on the mbr of the physical drive. <12> apokryphos: :) thanks <12> can get all my kmail stuff now <15> kkathman: 10.0 too. Not on 10.1 yet? :O <12> hehe <18> All of a sudden, Suse's complaining that it can't mount the root drive when it's being booted on its own without vmware. Any ideas?? <18> This one's definitely a cookie :P <12> JetDog330: ya
<12> change the lilo config to what ever hdx is <12> as it is nolonger hda or whatever <12> and good luck :) <18> lol <18> OAH <18> I just figured it out <5> apokryphos: nope...still hesitant <12> and than it "should" work <18> lol vmware shows up extended partitions DIFFERENTLY than your actual machine will <18> thats why it couldn't find root! <5> apokryphos: Im thinking my best shot is to back things up, and then just reinstall 10.1 then add back my HOME stuff <19> im being told fwiw kkathman .. <19> back 1st few days of .1 release in here.. <5> its what sPiN suggests also <19> one is begging probs by just using /home bits defacto on .1 <12> !guru <9> Guru is a great site to find extra RPMs (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/) <19> spin doesnt <12> thanks apokryphos everything works now :) <15> kkathman: heh, a 10.1 upgrade is just fine. I've done it on 7/8 systems here <15> kkathman: just (i) get aj's updates for package management; (ii) use smart <19> spin completes his fresh installs kkathman then just pulls over his .kde and bits pc by necessary pc <20> say what? <5> apokryphos: can you tell me what you did...link to site etc ?? <19> heya spin .. sorry.. didnt mean to ping ya mate.. <20> actually i especially dont pull over .kde as it is one of the most likely to get messy <13> ... damn this is ticking me off... with the time I've wasted trying to get netinstall working, I could have downloaded all 6 disks <19> telling kkathman bout how your not of the faith of just leaving 10.0 /home files upon fresh installs of .1 <12> lol YeTr2 :) <16> hey, anyone can help me configure ntop to show / machine graphs ? :D <12> are you using http or ftp source? <13> ftp <19> mea culpa n tx spin 4 squaring me.. <20> i just bring over stuff like .gaim and then a couple things from .kde like amarok and kmail settings <12> YeTr2: i never got ftp to work ... try a http <4> mmm my /home has been on its own partition or disk since oh suse 8 I think <12> i always get the no content thing ... w/ ftp's <20> !ftpinstall <9> Follow instructions at http://spinink.net/2005/12/18/suse-linux-network-install/ and also check out http://www.opensuse.org/Installation_Help <13> bleh... <19> see kkathman .. i always ***umed sep /home partition meant i could just leave status quo and fresh install.. s*pin of mind not good <13> [mdevilz]: I don't suppose there is a way I could restart the yast process w/o having to reboot and restart with the 73meg download <5> tech9iner: on his blog..thats what he says is the best way tho <19> moi k then.. heh <12> YeTr2: ummm not sure .. aborting might bring you to the blue setup thing ... and you can put it in there <12> but not sure if you will have to redownload or not <12> but probably :( <5> tech9iner: scroll up to see his link to his blog <12> any gaim 2beta rpms for 10.1? anywhere <5> tech9iner: http://spinink.net/2006/05/13/3-ways-of-upgrading-to-suse-linux-101/ <20> yeah kkathman, i dont copy over the entire /home, i just back it up and only bring over exactly what i need <12> !gaim <9> Rumour has it gaim is aweful period <13> [mdevilz]: I sorta got it... it's just really hard to see what I'm doing or what it's asking <19> fair nough kkathman .. not debating just trying to ***ure your .1 ride mobetta than mine chum ;]]] <21> gu al <6> [mdevilz]: yaloki has some I think <12> ok <6> !gaim2 <20> he hasnt built gaim2 for .1 yet <9> gaim2 is http://dev-loki.blogspot.com/2005/12/gaim-200-beta1-rpms.html <19> s pin just shared this with me during my .1 travials.. jus p***n it on kkathman <22> hey everone... is there any better way of upgrading my packages in smart other than upgrade all which wants to download a gig of updates, most of which i really probly dont need, is there any way I can just see security updates? <12> ahh :( <19> wow.. <19> major bell.. or was it a brick up me head <12> guess i will download the tar than <6> warrior520: hmm with rug you can do rug patches, probably something similar with smart <22> benJIman: rug is gone, it was nothing but problems for me <13> [mdevilz]: not too many http USA mirrors :( <6> works for me if not combined with yast <6> ie using yum sources <12> YeTr2: ya
