<0> hello everyone <0> what does 'Can't send mail: sendmail process failed with error code 244' mean? o_O <1> Where do I permanently set my Reply-To address or Return Path?
<2> in your mua. <3> hm. what process places files in /var/spool/mqueue-client? for some reason, not all of these files are made with the correct user/group & permissions. <3> sendmail runs as smmsp for example, and i see files created by users and having wrong permissions so sm-msp can't read them. <2> the sendmail binary places files into the client mqueue, usually named /var/spool/clientmqeueue. <2> sendmail and the directory permissions should be as discussed in sendmail/SECURITY. <2> -r-xr-sr-x root smmsp ... /PATH/TO/sendmail <2> drwxrwx--- smmsp smmsp ... /var/spool/clientmqueue <2> drwx------ root wheel ... /var/spool/mqueue <3> thats not the problem. directory permissions are fine <2> *shrug*
<3> 90% of the files are correct w.r.t. permissions and user/group <3> just a few arent, which pile up in time. <3> anyway i suspect its the website code that uses sendmail binary. made it so that it uses smtp to localhost now <3> shouldnt occur anymore. <2> then your binary and directory permissions aren't in agreement. <3> yes they are:) <3> thats whats so confusing. <2> oh well. <3> yep. :)
