Tried --root and --buildroot, but it still complains about /usr/src/redhat/? <2> http://users.tkk.fi/~tkarvine/rpm-build-as-user.html <4> Thanks. Got at least a bit further now :-) <4> harsha, is it practical to do this? Can I e.g. build binary RPMs without root access? <4> (I cannot write to /usr/bin, for instance) <2> kzm: You'd need access to priviliged directores only when you want to install a package. <4> I guess I shouldn't use 'rpmbuild -ba' then? <4> How does rpmbuild know which files to include? I thought it had to %install them, and get them from %files <2> kzm: Everything is mentioned in the spec file <4> Hmm...I tried specifying a new %_bindir and mandir in .rpmmacros.
<4> It's only the installation that fails atm. <4> I specified an alternative bindir and mandir, however, those paths get hardcoded into the RPM. Is that correct? <4> If I distribute this, will it try to install into my home dir, or in /usr/bin? <4> apparently, it wasn't going to be that simple.. :-( <5> trying to su to a normal user <5> but I get the message cannot open session <5> anyone know how to fix that? <6> : RH9 (Shrike) Fedore Core ? <7> denic: no, that is Red Hat Linux 9 <6> .. Fedoru? <8> hi <8> why is the Backspace key code reported as "^[[3~" instead of "^?" ??? <9> I'm going mad. After ripping my hair I'm getting bald. Harakiri will be next. My problem is: I've got a Phoenix BIOS that wont recognize either the floppy or the cdrom - so I can't boot from them. Since I can boot up an old win98 I do that just to see the OS that was planned to vanish from this computer - with win98 the cdrom/floppy works fine. No loose cables or whatever, that one might have expected. I'm been jerking around wi <9> th BIOS but can't find no solution. HELP! <10> got a service listening called ipp on tcp 631. anyone know what it is or how to shut it off? <11> hi all, can anyone point me to the directory that holds the sounds played by gnome upon system boot?
