<0> What will it take http://rafb.net/paste/results/19IukR55.html to change the way postfix reports this bounce? IMO, I can dig through maillogs if there's really a question of what's going on. <1> hi. i have postfix totally (binaries too) chrooted in /chroot/postfix. then i have apache2 totally (binaries too) chrooted in /chroot/apache2. The problem is now, how to sendmail from apache2(+php) using postfix in other chroot. Do you know for any (working) sendmail wrapper which would forward every mail to localhost:25 ? <0> there are some simpler mailers that will do that job. haven't used them for a while now. <1> i believe there are but just cant find the right one..one which -you- know it works.. <2> postfix has a sendmail binary. Copy it into your apache chroot environ perhaps? <3> how can i put all mail to hold que ? <4> hey, I'm looking to create a 'spooling server'....anyone know of any good docs for such a beast? <5> lookup_sql: 2006, MySQL server has gone away <5> Hi all. I have postfix amavis clamav and I have the following errors in my errorlog: <5> 451 4.5.0 Error in processing, id=24112-04, creating_partsdir FAILED: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: MySQL server has gone away at (eval 38) line 238, <GEN16> line 93. (in reply to end of DATA command)) <5> But when I tried to start mysql, it was already runnning. <5> it says mysql is not running but it is. Any ideas? <5> errors are from amavis and postfix. <5> yes. <5> no, not really. <5> ok, I'll try that. Thank you.
<5> bye. <6> i cant get vacation to work with postifx.. <6> what do i need to add to transport <6> or whatever.. how do i set it uppp <7> I'm having a frustrating problem, frustrating bc the logs seem to indicate everything is working... I have a frontend postfix machine that is set to relay mail to other servers based on domain, I have the transports table set up, etc <7> when I try to send mail to one of the domains that is backed by a non-postfix MTA it works fine. When I try to send to the one that has transports pointing to another postfix MTA it says message is accepted for delevery (I get a 250 Ok msg on the relay host) and the log on the delivery machine (backend postfix + cyrus imap) shows the same log messages as when a delivery is successful, yet I never see these msgs in my imap box <8> can someone have a look at my mail log and mail response. It works fine when I mail to admin@mydomain.com, but doesn't work when I email to other@mydomain.com ??? ... it seems to be a procmail problem ... http://pastebin.com/724003 <9> anyone know an automated way to test that an email address to make sure its receiving everything it should be? ive been suspicious that it may be droping mail somewhere or rejecting it, but have no way to check really besides just doing test messages from hotmail/gmail/netscape etc <9> id like a more thorough test <10> check your logs? <9> MysticOne, i this is hosted elsewhere.... i run postfix for my own use but not for the ones im concerned about. <10> oh <10> I don't think there is any way for you to tell <9> its too bad there arent random servers set up to send an email to a given address on request... that would be nice <9> either no ones though of it or people think its not necessary <10> I' <10> I'd say it's not necessary ... you can send messages to it any time you want :) <9> yea but not from enough different servers to figure out whats going haywire.... im not sure if the mailserver im accessing is filtering mail it doesnt like for whatever reason, etc <10> that's always possible <8> Can someone have a look at a procmail/postfix error here for me pls ... :-) ... http://pastebin.com/724026 ... thanks ! <11> Hi at all, I have some problems importing qmail.schema in Fedora DS that I want to use with Postfix....How can I substitute MailMessageStore and AlternateMailAddress? <12> hello people <12> can you help me please i have this error in my log: verification failed name or service not known <12> where is a problem? <12> i think i found problem <12> dns... <13> is there a way in aliases to blacklist an address? <13> in exim I just put address@host.com: :blackhole: <13> i want the server to acknowledge the address (for noreply@, etc)... but not put the mail anywhere <13> blacklist=blackhole <14> Dreamer3: adress: /dev/null <13> hmmm <13> that works? :) <12> warning: 203.210.249.48: hostname adsl.hnpt.com.vn verification failed: Name or service not known <12> anyone can help me? <15> Antixrict, i also get that, think it might be a spammer or something...in any case a valid -propperly setup mailserver wont give you that i think, i havnt found a way to get rid of that in my logs, but i dont worry about it either <12> dsdg yes many spamers <12> but not all <12> :( <12> that is a problem <12> i need mail from one of this host <15> hmm, tricky man, as i say i have never been able to fix that error <15> if it is an error <15> postconf | grep verify <15> < --- i see that <15> address_verify_service_name = verify <15> i see that too, however im not sure if changing that value will help you much <12> no <12> i think i find it <12> smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks,reject_unauth_destination,reject_unknown_recipient_domain,reject_unlisted_recipient,reject_unverified_recipient <12> reject_unverified_recipient <15> reject_unverified_recipient <15> ? <12> but i test this <15> hehe <15> let me know man <12> :)) <12> ok <12> dsdg yes it work :) <15> youre a king man! <15> you added that to your main.cf file?
<15> smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks,reject_unauth_destination,reject_unknown_recipient_domain,reject_unlisted_recipient <15> like that? <12> yes <12> :) <15> your a king man! <15> im going to change mine now <16> can someone help me on this problem im experiencing? <16> ever since I changed the IP of my server <16> i get the error parameter inet_interfaces: no local interface found for 203.118.146.116 <16> whenever i try to mail <16> .116 was my old ip <17> how can i 'ban' some email address on my server? <16> and i changed it <16> now it doesn't work <17> i don't want to receive mail from that address <16> is there something i needed to change in the main.cf? <17> mutlun: check /etc/hosts <17> mutlun: or rgrep 203.118.146.116 /etc <16> okay thanx <16> i'll check <16> ahhhhhhhh <16> i c i c <16> me try try <16> hosts file hasn't been changed <16> still old address <16> cooool <16> works now <16> thanks a lot <18> k3mper: SMTPD_ACCESS_README.html , postconf.5.html#check_sender_address , access.5.html ("man 5 access"). <18> Note, most sender addresses you see are forged. It's not an effective nor an appropriate way to deal with spam. <12> rob0 hello <12> rob0 you know what this is : warning: 203.210.249.48: hostname adsl.hnpt.com.vn verification failed: Name or service not known <12> how i can fix it? <18> $ host 203.210.249.48 <18> 48.249.210.203.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer adsl.hnpt.com.vn. <18> $ host adsl.hnpt.com.vn <18> Host adsl.hnpt.com.vn not found: 3(NXDOMAIN) <12> rob0 ? <12> i know but in maillog see this .. <12> how i can fix this problem? <19> hi :) <19> is it possible to set different transport depending on the sender's domain ? <18> Antixrict: if 203.210.249.48 is your host, have your ISP set up proper rDNS (and make sure the forward lookup resolves.) If not, what exactly is the problem? <12> rob0 no it's not my host <18> endy`: I think that's a new feature in Postfix 2.3. <19> oki :) <12> rob0 i see many this warning in my log <12> and this is only one <12> rob0 maybe i can turn off dns checking? <18> Antixrict: or stop looking in your log. :) Which solution is going to do the best in the long run? rDNS checking is done for a reason. <18> If you don't understand something, don't break it. <12> rob0 ok.. it's not reject? <18> BTW probably > 90% of hosts with PTR not resolving in a forward lookup are spewing spam. Postfix logs them with the warning, and from then on, as "unknown[203.210.249.48]". A PTR record means nothing unless there's a corresponding forward lookup. <20> hello everybody <12> ok <12> thx <20> I'm just looking for some tools/sites to train my spam fliter <20> if possible chinese spam too <18> !cheatsheet <21> rob0: 'cheatsheet' : http://jimsun.linxnet.com/misc/postfix-anti-UCE.txt : A HOWTO for pre-DATA spam control. <22> hi guys... this is probably more of a general UNIX/linux question... But can I set up like a group that will be a single e-mail address to send mail to many recipients? For instance I make the user or group "Staff" so that people can send an e-mail to "staff@mydomain.com" to send a message to all the staff members? <18> JoKoT3: http://jimsun.linxnet.com/misc/postfix-anti-UCE.txt : most effective way to deal with spam. <18> toogreen: are you using Unix groups for this? <22> rob0 well I'm not doing it yet but that's what I want to know how to do yeah, If it's possible <22> rob0 right now I use regular Linux with postfix for my staff's e-mail <12> !pastebin <22> each users of the e-mail also has a Linux user account <21> Antixrict: 'pastebin' : a way to paste larger amounts of text so that other people can read it. Try http://www.rafb.net/paste/ or http://paste.debian.net/ - Do not forget to tell us the URL where you pasted it. <22> rob0, so I'm wondering If I can do something real simple like making a group "staff" and add all the staff users to it <12> rob0 it's normal for mailserver: http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/eD4TjQ66.html <22> rob0, so that I can tell my staff If they want to send an e-mail they can just send it to "staff@mydomain.com" <12> ? <18> toogreen: http://mryoung.soundbomb.net/b2evolution/index.php?cat=24 <18> toogreen: I haven't looked at that yet, but I think it's a good idea.
