I came to bother you all with a stupid question: If a permanent magnet is attached, by its magnetic field, to the ferrous core of an electromagnet, and current is applied to the electromagnet's coil, will the electromagnet repel the permanent magnet in all instances, or must the electromagnets voltage be high enough to overcompensate for the field induced by the permanent magnet before it can repel said permanent magnet? .
