<0> Who here is NOT using Firefox?
<0> Get the PHP search engine plugin...
<1> AbuHurayrah: http://www.php.net/function-name :)
<0> It's outstanding for development.
<0> My way's faster...;)
<2> codergeek42: You don't even need the first 11 characters
<1> AbuHurayrah: I don't. (I use Epiphany, which is Gecko-based but thankfully *NOT* Mozilla/Firefox)
<3> php will amaze and confound you with inconsistencies. step right up and see the amazing 14 dash function, yes and over here we have a similar function in camel case, yes ladies and genetlemen you won't find these kinds of anomalies anywhere else. Do I have ten dollars? ten dollars over here, twenty, do I hear twenty...
<0> codergeek42: THANKFULLY?!
<1> AbuHurayrah: Yes.
<0> Shadda: PHP is a concatenation of MANY extensions...this is why.
<0> PHP6 is supposed to fix some of these...
<4> AbuHurayrah...well... there's nothing for just "mail"...no variable or anything like that at all
<3> AbuHurayrah, not just that..the core functions
<3> array/string functions
<0> Shadda: Touche

<3> take array_reverse for example
<3> then look at shuffle()
<5> hy
<0> Okay, Shadda, just send us your patch to fix the function names, and we'll start compiling them in...;) j/k
<5> someone is there
<5> I am looking for some tester
<1> rapsys: Yes, we are here.
<5> codergeek42: great ;)
<3> AbuHurayrah, simple! namespaces. All they need is to transfer these functions to a proper collection of namespaces. Then, then...if their precious backwards compatibility is so important to them, they can create a *special* global namespace that aliases these functions and loads them as neccessary.
<6> Shadda, array reverse doesnt keep the keys properly?
<4> *sigh* Okay... if the mail function will not work for sending emails from a form, is there any other way I could send an email from an HTML form using PHP?
<3> devians, if you want to maintain key ***ociation, use array_flip()
<0> Shadda: It's not backwards compatible if you have to do something to make it work...:-p
<3> er, rather, key position
<0> Shadda: BUT, I like your idea.
<6> no...
<7> being backwards compatiable is where all the **** bits in php are from anyway
<3> AbuHurayrah, they've demonstrated in the past their overwillingness to put this sort of thing as a default parameter in php.ini
<7> and is why we are still stuck with ****ing register_globals
<3> I see no reason why they couldn't add a namespaces.backwards_compat = true; option
<0> lol
<7> which should never have been there in the first place
<6> i just want to reverse the array for a foreach so im essentially going back through it while maintaining key ***ociation
<1> flashwerk: that is removed in PHP6, IIRC
<1> (thank $DEITY)
<7> yeah no kidding
<7> 2 versions to ****ing late
<8> php used to not have register_globals, it was just on, always
<0> PHP bash all you want, but it still does what it does incredibly well...
<3> reg globals wasn't all that bad...looking back, you know how much money I've made rewriting **** code written with em?
<1> AbuHurayrah: yes. :)
<3> Truely, register globals has made me a lot of money.
<1> Shadda: HAHAHAHA
<0> Shadda: Yeah, that's what I get to do at work too...I'd rather focus on writing new code, though...
<7> what so because of that people shouldnt suggest ways to make it better?
<2> devians: Unless your array is numerically indexed, the array should be treated as though unordered.
<3> AbuHurayrah, oh, I don't mean *fixing* them
<8> and the reason to not have another ini option is there are too many
<3> I mean rewriting them
<3> from the ground up
<7> we should stop improving now
<0> Shadda: Or even make compliant HTML output a priority...
<3> and charging extra for the effort
<6> the array order does matter TML
<2> devians: Is it numerically indexed?
<6> no
<0> devians: Do you want a custom function to do it?
<2> devians: Then you need to maintain two seperate arrays, one of keys, one of values, so that you have reliable ordering.
<6> no no... i just have to figure this out
<6> hrm
<2> devians: ***ociative arrays should not be considered sorted.
<0> devians: I always end up writing a function if it takes too long to figure something like this out...
<6> grrr i hate it when i have to deal with ****ed up logic like this
<0> devians: Are you doing it for money or for another reason?
<0> Anyone here worked with Moodle?
<6> money
<6> well, partly personal too
<6> it will be some nice code when i figure it out
<3> heh

<5> hi
<0> devians: It's going to be a long road ahead for you...;) It's ALWAYS like this...
<5> I am back
<3> rapsys, HI!
<5> may you test this upload form plz : http://upload.moonhub.be/upm/
<8> why don't you test it? :)
<5> I am prety close to have finished it, plz try upload something and send back your comment
<3> doesn't work.
<3> atleast, there's no meter.
<5> philip: I tested it with konqueror and ie, I need safari and other client/config test
<2> rapsys: ##PHP is not a distributed testing center.
<3> Imma guess he didn't write it, either.l
<5> 80.86.187.237 == upload.moonhub.be
<2> Anyone here have access to a Solaris 10 box they can provide me with a temporary account to poke at some compile bugs?
<5> plz set it in your host, I have few pb with my ****ing dns cache
<2> rapsys: ##PHP is not a distributed testing center.
<3> We are, however, a speakeasy, lumber mill, automuseum, and family fun center.
<3> rapsys, besides...mine actually works in *all* browsers :) http://mycrap.carbonix.us/uploadProgress/
<0> Do any of the PHP core developers hang out on here?
<3> AbuHurayrah, I believe pollita does, but most of them hang out on efnet
<2> AbuHurayrah: A few do.
<0> Then what the heck is freenode all about?
<3> They don't hang out in #php on efnet
<3> anymore
<0> Oh.
<2> AbuHurayrah: I'm pretty sure www.freenode.net answers that.
<9> in php
<2> AbuHurayrah: Most of the core developers don't IRC at all.
<0> Hmmm...
<0> Then how can I flame them?
<3> TML, actually, they do. I talk to rasmus all the time :)
<3> the .pecl channel
<10> AbuHurayrah: freenode is about love
<2> Shadda: Do tell. Rasmus himself is the one who tells people he has completely given up IRC.
<0> I didn't mean to start a war, guys...
<2> Shadda: But I hold to my position that it's still a minority.
<0> Let's forget I even brought it up!
<11> yours makes crash my konquror !!!
<10> where love is there is no war. :)
<0> What's with all the mode changes?
<2> AbuHurayrah: I muted him, he attempted to avoid it, so I banned him.
<1> TML++
<3> AbuHurayrah, hormones. mode changes, facial hair, you name it...
<3> :)
<0> Shadda: I didn't make a typo...
<0> :-p
<3> neither did I.
<12> TML: is +b ban?
<12> i thought it was mute
<13> it's ban
<2> itrebal: +b %foo mutes foo. +b foo bans foo.
<0> Well, it's been fun, folks...I'm gonna head off to bed.
<13> but banned people are mute
<12> oohk
<13> oh
<0> It's nice enough that I might come back here...:-D
<0> g'night y'all!
<14> is it possible to accept both GET and POST at the same time?
<2> itrebal: I actually issue "+q foo", but the server sends it as "+b %foo" because of some issue with clients and the "+q" mode.
<2> IdahoEv: I forget the details.
<2> excelblue: Sure
<15> TML: gotchya
<14> so, can I submit a form with POST, and have the GET stuff hardcoded into the target?
<2> excelblue: It's sort of a grey area in regards to the HTTP spec, but it's certainly do-able with nearly all major HTTPDs
<1> excelblue: yup
<16> TML: ??? (I haven't said anything in days)
<14> is it possible with the fastcgi setup?
<2> IdahoEv: [itrebal_sleep] changed his nick right as I hit <tab>, causing "i<tab>" to find you as the first match
<3> excelblue, get/post are interpreted by the underlying webserver as part of HTTP protocol, so, yes
<15> ooh
<14> was wondering if they'd get messed up in PHP
<14> or is it clear in the CGI protocol that GET is GET and POST is POST?
